VIDEO PREMIERE! Tjaere+Fjer's brand new music video for the song Any Second Now is out. Any Second Now is the second single from Tjaere+Fjer's latest album Voliere. It was one of the first songs I wrote for the album. It instantly shaped the direction for the concept, mood, and sound of the entire album. The video was made by Danish actor/director/screenwriter Jacob Teglgaard and myself. Jacob and I met in Berlin 4-5 years ago when we both lived in the German capital. I was always impressed by Jacob’s eye for strong images and interesting narratives. We immediately connected for this video in terms of balancing the claustrophobic feel, psychological drama, and musical energy of the song - and Voliere as a whole. Feel free to share the video. Please feel free to join :-). / Jens --- „The Real Estate Show Extended/Berlin“ 03. 06. – 24. 06. 2017 Opening: Fri. 02. 06. 2017, 19:00 KUNSTPUNKT BERLIN Schlegelstr. 6, 10115 Berlin Öffnungszeiten / Opening hours: Mi.–Sa. / Wed.–Sat., 14:00–18:00 How do Berlin artists deal with the changes in their city, the changing living and work habits? Many are losing their studios because real estate owners are targeting higher rents and more lucrative contracts with new paying tenants. Enough new affordable studios are simply not available. Artworks done in the last few years is generally disposed of quickly, because space – even storage space – is not affordable. The nomadism of artists reaches its limits, because even in the outer districts of Berlin alternative real estate has already been taken. How does this external pressure manifest itself in the work of the artists? The exhibition series starts with an example from New York City in the early 1980’s. In New York’s speculator-eldorado Lower East Side, artists occupied a storefront at the beginning of the 80’s to stage an exhibition on the topic of real estate speculation titled “The Real Estate Show”. This was cleared shortly afterwards by the police. Documentation of that exhibition provides an introduction to the series, followed by the group exhibition “The Real Estate Show Extended/Berlin” which refers to Berlin and a further four individual exhibitions with Berlin-based artists.
