Watching 3x03 and I am HAUNTED by Carlos’s face as he starts to really comprehend how serious the situation is.

Just look at it hitting him as the doctor explains things:

“We could lose him.”

And then Tommy and Nancy try to comfort him but he just stares into space:

Whatever he’s thinking about here makes him suddenly need to get up and go somewhere he can be alone.

Is he thinking about how it’s been months since the last time he touched TK?

Is it hitting him that, even though he professed that you have to know when a thing is over, he’s actually been believing all along that they would find their way back to each other at some point (they’re soulmates, after all!) but now he might be about to lose TK permanently and irrevocably?

Is he remembering waking up next to TK…the early morning sunlight peeking in through the window and illuminating TK’s rumpled hair and adorable face, creating the most beautiful sight Carlos has ever seen, TK rolling towards him and snuggling sleepily against his chest as Carlos breathes in his scent and feels so right and whole and at peace…and realizing that he will never have that feeling again?

I love the moment in 2x08 when TK, in the midst of being held at gunpoint and kidnapped, reached into his pocket and pulled out his sobriety chip and dropped it on the ground.

It was so smart to do, but it also shows how much trust and faith he has in Carlos (and his dad, the 126, etc.) because a random person stumbling across that chip wouldn't think twice about it. The coin isn't custom made with his name on it - anybody could have accidentally dropped one in a parking garage. But Carlos knows as soon as he sees it that it's TK's and what it means.

and TK dropped it because he knew Carlos and his family would be looking for him. TK knew that once he was late enough and didn't check in, it would be Carlos who would go searching for him.
