#RunCOLFAX ANNOUNCEMENT

I am so happy to announce I have been selected again to be a Colfax Marathon Series Ambassador! My Colfax Training will start again next week for the race in May of 2017! Join me on my training journey! I will be running as many small races as I can find time for to prepare myself again!

misadventures in healthy eating. First let me preface my blog post by saying I stopped for fast food because I was famished and it was near midnight. In an attempt to each cheap and eat quick and healthy after a 14 hour day I stopped at Wendy's in my neighborhood. The staff was lovely and explained it would take a little longer to make the 2 grilled chicken wraps. I was very impressed since having worked in fast food at one point in my life I know it's not uncommon to say we can't make that at this time at night. I obliged and waited with baited breath and once again was happy about my healthier late night meal. The wrap in theory would be a wonderful somewhat healthy option however took a bite and the chicken was like rubber. I thought maybe in my exhaustion my sever underbite was acting up so I tried again and still a inedible rubbery grilled chicken. The second wrap (btw from what I can tell they take a whole chicken breast and split it for the wraps) was just as texturally unappetizing. I'm really exhausted and not one to really turn around and re-enter the drive through to say something. I was actually more disappointed that the people behind me were held up because of me. The tortilla and the dressing and the lettuce were actually very tasty just better because it was sans the rubber chicken. I am giving this 2 out of 5 possible rainbows as a tasty healthy food option. Rainbow Rating 🌈🌈☹️☹️☹️ @wendys

Okay I am sure you just snickered a bit, and truthfully we do to, but before you think this is all a word made up on the school grounds by some hyperactive kids, let me introduce you to what Fartlek actually means. From our friends at Runner’s World Magazine: Fartlek is Swedish for “speed play,” and that is exactly what it’s all about. Unlike tempo and interval work, fartlek is unstructured and alternates moderate-to-hard efforts with easy throughout. After a warmup, you play with speed by running at faster efforts for short periods of time (to that tree, to the sign) followed by easy-effort running to recover. The Fartlek 5K brings the “play like” attributes of this long and well known running jargon/training term into a fun family oriented 5K. The event will feature a 5K Run/Walk and a Fartlek zone (where we will capture the fastest speed play participants) and a fun post-event expo. Produced by Hallucination Sports, the Fartlek 5K benefits the Precious Miles Program at Kuamini, Inc. a 501©(3) Charity.
