Choosing Reality Over Tradition

During this unprecedented time in the Catholic Church, there is an opportunity for their leaders to do something unprecedented. Will they? This is my argument why I believe they must. The seat is what it is...it is what holds "the power" and whose hands that power is in is imperative to the survival of it. Their organization has almost zero credibility with millions around the world, even those of their faith. Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of devout who are faithful yet disgusted by the actions of their leaders, but there is also a large portion of their believers who feel the Church is outdated and does not address the issues they're facing in their daily lives. Continuing to treat women as lesser than, when even Jesus himself had female disciples, is egregious. This is the 21st century and now is the time for another Pope Joan. If the 115 men of the papal conclave cannot see past their scepters to who their followers truly are today and choose reality over tradition, that power will diminish even more in the next 50 years.
