It's the year 2039, decades after the outbreak of the Cordyceps virus. Humanity is slowly dwindling, as the Infected only grows in number. There is no cure, there is no vaccine, there is no hope. There is only the endless struggle for survival.
We are The Last Of Us
We have struggled for a long time and did our very best to breathe new life into this universe. But as most of you noticed, there was not much we could do to get out of this downwards spiral where we had so little members that the ones that did join got discouraged very easily and the ones that were still here had no plots to keep themselves active or busy. .
Two weeks ago, we asked your opinion on our current situation and the future of this RP. Most of you understood our struggles and agreed (though very sad) that there is no way to revive this universe. So (we all hate this moment, but we have to be honest with you and ourselves), this is the time where we have to announce the end of TLOU-KRP. We really tried everything to keep it alive and find it really hard to say goodbye to the universe where (for me) it all started, but it was not meant to be.Â
We would like to thank all our members for all the lovely moments and awesome plots that we shared and we hope that we will see you in another roleplay universe.
Scary, right? A sudden announcement after such long silence. Iâm afraid itâs sort of what youâre thinking too.
As you have all noticed, our rp isnât doing so well. We have had no new members since our revamp, and many that have joined then are no longer active (or were, indeed, active at all.) We are sorry that we as an admin team have not been able to achieve a certain activity level on this rp. Weâre caught in this spiral were we have so little members that the ones that do join get discouraged very easily and the ones that are still here have no plots to keep themselves active or busy.
We think our time has passed. We have tried to create a new and fun environment with our revamp, but it hasnât really helped much. We are sorry to have failed our members, we really are.
However, as we have mentioned in asks and to our members personally, we will keep our promise. We are not closing The Last of Us down just like this. Instead, we are asking you.Â
What do you think is best?
All we want is your genuine opinion. You donât have to feel guilty if the answer is âclose it downâ. You donât. Our members are the reason we kept struggling on with this universe, and you are the reason we want to continue should you wish so. We, as an admin team, have a responsibility towards our members and we do take that seriously, even if the results arenât always there.
So what do you think we should do? Should we close our blog down? Should we put it on a hiatus of X amount of time? Change certain things?
Talk to us on IM, send us an ask, talk to us however you like, we will be awaiting your opinion. If we receive no replies after two weeks, The Last of Us roleplay will unfortunately be closing down. Weâre not going to be coy and pretend itâs an hiatus, because it wonât be. Again, thatâs perfectly fine if the time for the universe has come and itâs not anyoneâs fault, but we think itâs best to be honest. Regardless of the answers, Admin Cathe and Admin Jazy are dropping their characters for this rp until further notice, but both are still willing to be admins for the blog if our members should wish to see it continue.
So, with this we leave the decision with the people who should make this kind of decision. We leave it with our dearest members.
No one is as pure as you think they are. there is something there, something behind everyoneâs eyes that proves theyâre not. donât believe me? you donât have to. the night will prove enough to you. in fact, they will prove to you themselves that they donât regret the mistakes theyâve made
When you walk by every night, talking sweet and looking fine
I get kind of hectic inside
Darling, if you only knew⊠All the things that flow through my mind
Images of rapture creep into me slowly
As youâre going to my head and my heart beats faster
When you take me over, time and time again

KairĂłs (ÎșαÎčÏÏÏ) â (n.) The fleeting rightness of time and place that creates the perfect moment. opportune, spontaneous; timely.
Time is as forgiving as it is wicked for it bottles up the essence of a God and unleashes it upon the world. An organization of justice, to keep the peace and train the strongest
Chaos fell upon Earth and the Shadow Realms, as meisters and demon weapons started to hunt witches to consume their souls and become more powerful. The thirst for souls caused the two main organizations, the Shibusen Organization and the Magic Order to declare war against each other. The war lasted for four years, a group of people from each race ended it and meister rose to power, ending everyoneâs misery and establishing truce within the Magic Order.
Shibusen Organization and the Magic Order came to an understanding. Both decided to create a place where meisters, demon weapons and witches/warlocks could live a life in peace, learning how to fight and how to increase their power to become skillful warriors and SHIBUSEN ACADEMY WAS BORN.
Meet 21-year-old Bandit Go Sanggil. He is currently living in the Free Zone and is active as a Hunter in order to survive. How will your paths cross theirs? Continue reading to learn more about this survivor.
Residence: Home Sweet Home isnât that sweet for Sang Gil. He pretty much just sleeps there. Back in the days, if he remembers well, it might have been a placed called a loft, nestled between the second and third floor of what was probably a tall tower of technology, elevator, and protected doors. But now, plants have reclaimed this building as their own, and only the stairs are useful. Sang Gil found a little corner in the flat to sleep and kicked away his inanimate roommates back in the forest to make up some sort of living space. But he is a mover and never really stays at the same place for more than a year, even if moving sometimes just mean to climb to the next floor.
Weapons: Bow and Arrow, Hunting Knife and a simple Revolver
Personality:Happy is not a word often used to describe Sang Gil. Smiling isnât something natural for him and he doesnât do it often. Few lucky ones saw it. A good word for him might be determined. Once he got an idea behind his head, heâll do everything he can to succeed. He never liked being close to someone in an emotional way; because of the Cordyceps, he learned quickly that anyone could become an enemy, even the closest friend, resulting in him being almost scared and getting close to other human beings. He learned quickly how to build a façade, a shield to hide his true feelings. Not that he is mean with others, but he can seem cold and distant and not really kind. But when someone gets over that self-made barrier, theyâll meet with an extremely kind and gentle young man. Sang Gil is an incredibly courageous man, almost too much. He can think fast, make a plan from absolutely nothing but might get his ass kicked a couple of time and end up in need of a nurse before succeeding, but heâll never give up. Quick on his feet and light as a feather, he is hard to track and very hard to hear walking, as if he was born to be a spy. Incredibly curious, he knows a ton of things and loves to learn more. To befriend him, the best way would be to teach him something new.
Although being a kind soul, Sang Gil still has many flaws. He gets angry quickly, especially at people who are against him or not here to help. And let me tell you he is not pretty once he is angry. As described earlier, he can seem really cold with others, talking as less as possible and avoiding eye contact. When he opens his mouth, he always seems annoyed to answer to people or even make the effort to talk to them. Some think itâs because he is better than them. He never knows when itâs time to stop and even if never giving up can be seen as something good, not accepting his defeats is a real problem with Sang Gil.
Background:Life wasnât kind to Sang Gil. Actually, life wasnât kind to anyone since the last couple years in Korea. Born in 2016, he had a small chance to see some of the â then ending â glory of the race before everything went downhill. He was raised by a single mother, conceived from an unknown man who he thought might be part of the military. He spent his twenty-first years on their territories, almost on the border between Zone 3 and Zone 4. His mother was a scientist and, to his eyes, the best one around. As a kid, he kept asking her question about everything. About the color of the sky, the reason why his hair was brown while hers were dark, why some things tasted sweet while others tasted salty. Slowly, question after question, Sang Gil learned more and more about a little of everything. His favorite things to ask were about the night sky.
But his most serious question, the ones that made him talking slowly, clearly and listening carefully to his mother were always the ones about the world around them. About the problem human beings were facing right now. And as his mother tried desperately to find a way to cure people and to end this nightmare, Sang Gil was beside her, giving ideas he thought were good, trying to help and growing into a man that would want to help people and help save the human race.
But all this would have been a bit too easy.
Working on a cure was hard and dangerous. Trying to survive was an everyday challenge. Researching remedies were terrible with a half-empty stomach and the risk of getting sick growing every day. And one day, she got infected. And he had to get rid of her. He couldnât stay there. He refused to. Sang Gil felt betrayed by his own kind, by people around him, by the scientists. Something changed inside him. If these people couldnât change the world, heâll find people who would want to do it more than them. But nothing ever works as expected. Joining the opposite camp never felt right either. The rivalry between the military and the Firefly just felt wrong on too many levels for the then-teenaged Sang Gil. Seeing how his mother used to love humanity so much, he couldnât believe that humans would stand against each other in such critical times. Without saying his goodbyes, he left the Firefly without looking back.
How can one even unite humans when they are so far apart and nothing is working between the two clans? Unaware of the Society that formed somewhere in the mountains, Sang Gil simply chose to live by himself, refusing to join the Crimson Raiders or any other clan of bandits - and probably they even never heard of him. His best way of surviving hid in the sole act of hunting.Trading sure is an option and Sang Gil does it some time, only when he really needs it. But most of all, he tries to find a way to continue his motherâs research and end this all by himself.
Meet 38-year-old Bandit Tezuka Ayumi, also known as Woman. She is currently living in the Free District and is active as a Gatherer and Spy in order to survive. How will your paths cross theirs? Continue reading to learn more about this survivor.
Residence: a home built with blood, sweat and tears: ayumi continues to reside in the tree house that she and her partner had built together. itâs secluded enough and stabilized on the branches of a huge treeâ the way up to it an actual hassle for someone that has never been there before. it is her safe haven and has enough room to offer more than the necessities, it was built for two people after all.
Weapons: 9mm pistol, machete, bow and arrow
Personality: cold-hearted and indifferent to life as a whole, ayumi goes about her days wandering around the free districts with no destination in mind. she really couldnât care less about the survivors or the infected, both an inconvenience to her really. she tries her best to stay away from the military, fireflies, and other bandits alike. however, when duty calls, she gets the job done. ayumiâs also quite reckless, the danger of being bitten or targeted by others no longer a fear of hers. theyâd actually be doing her a favor, if she were ever to be honest. sheâs lived her life, thereâs nothing for her anymoreâ but she would never dare take herself out. she would feel guilty for doing so, as it would be against her partnerâs wishes.
Background: ayumi had everything when she was younger. kind parents, a cozy household, many friends and good grades. her childhood was practically a dream and to many, they thought it was nothing but that. a simple dream. yet it wasnât, the woman had really lived through itâ experienced the wonders and curiosity of a child completely untainted. because unlike the newer generations, she had been lucky enough to not worry about death 24/7 and actually had the time to simply live.
she had also taken a lot after her parents. in school, the girl was very hard-working and ambitious, while also taking the time to be kind to those around her. if there was anybody bullying a child from her class, ayumi would be the first one to say something and offer to join the child for lunch. thatâs actually how she had come to meet the one who would be the love of her life. tezuka hiro had been his name, and to put it nicelyâ wasnât the best looking at the time.
that, however, didnât deter the girl from attempting to get to know the boy a little bit more. it took a short while, but by the time they both entered the second grade, they were practically inseparable. and while her association with âthe ugly ducklingâ of the school, of course, attracted her own bulliesâ itâs not like she minded. she welcomed the harsh words to turn them into an open dialogue of why their actions were wrong. some brushed her aside, others learned to respect her.
people were amazed at how mature ayumi really was for her age, and her parents couldnât be any prouder.
it wasnât shortly after that that both their parents met for the first time. his parents thanking hers for protecting their son when they couldnât. the two families grew rather close and for the next few years, were rather active with each other when it came time to celebrate holidays and the likes. eventually, both decided it would be best for them to take a family trip to south korea when it came time for both ayumi and hiro to graduate elementary school. it was intended to be a fun summer for all to enjoy, itâs not like anybody had a clue that once they stepped on the plane they would never be able to see their homes again.
but, thatâs how the story began. both the families remained clueless to the cordyceps outbreak until they stumbled upon a crowd gathering around at the entrance of the airport. they had just landed in the foreign country and none of them knew any korean, so they walked right by the televisions announcing what would be rather live changing for everybody around the world. it was only when they read the subtitles that both families held on tightly to their children and each other. if what was being reported was true, then their parents knew they had no hope. but their children would, and thatâs what kept them going. for now, though, they kept both hiro and ayumi ignorant to what was going on and pretended as though nothing had happened.
yet, they could only keep the outbreak a secret for so long until the military began to march onto the streets. not even covering their eyes would prevent the children from being exposed to what was essentially the end of the world. never in a million years would they have ever thought that they would be the lucky ones to experience such natural disaster. it was absolutely astonishing and for a meanwhile, both the kanoâs and the tezukaâs decided to hide out in their hotel room. itâs not like anybody would knock on their door for payment when the dead never needed any money.
slowly, food became something that was a luxury, and they had no choice but to begin searching for it. both of the childrenâs fathers were now responsible to feed their families and the mothers stayed behind to care for them. it went on for a solid month before hiroâs father simply never came back. they said it was because he was still looking and that he would return someday. but hiro knew better than that. ayumi knew better than that. and so they comforted one another, clinging on to their mothers as any scared child would. then, the military arrived unannounced to re-locate all of them somewhere else.
for the rest of their childhood, they would spend it in a place only known as zone 5. hiro and ayumi would go on to attend school in a language that they did not understand. but, they would learn and they would do it the hard way. ayumi struggled to keep up with her other classmates but hiro didnât seem to have a problem. it was when they would graduate what would be their second year of middle school before hiro was enrolled into the academy infamous for making âlittle soldiersâ. their separation was incredibly difficult and hiroâs mother obviously did not agree with the new information. yet itâs not like she had the power to do anything. and so she fell into a depression.
ayumiâs parents both tried their best to look after their dear friend despite the fact it was really no use. the moment her husband had died, they all knew she was a lost cause. the fact that her son was barely even present didnât help at all either. so, when the day came to say their final farewellsâ hiro didnât even bat an eye. this caused ayumi to worry, making the promise to him that she would never ever leave his side. now the kano family was working hard to support both hiro and ayumi, and it was only when it was discovered that the government was going to take hiro away for good that they decided it was time they left.
both of ayumiâs parents tragically risked their lives to escape zone 5 and its oppressive culture. the teens at the time wouldnât realize both the blessing and the curse that it was escaping from that place. but ever since, they both held hands and never looked backâ their destiny was set. now, they really did only have themselves to rely on. and that only made their bond even stronger.
they both kept each other sane the rest of their years together. ayumi was his rock and hiro was her anchor. they were so incredibly overprotective of each other; not because they had to be, but because they wanted to. they could have easily parted ways once they had reached the forest. yet they didnât. he made her days brighter and she made it possible to smile again in the cruel world that they lived in. they moved around from place to place before deciding to settle down in one spot. it was a rather large tree and the task that they set on themselves would take a year or two to complete. though that didnât stop them from realizing their dream of owning a house together, and soon enough, the want to start of family of their own only grew.
yet they knew that in their current condition, that would be nearly impossible. so they settled with what they had and hoped that maybe during easier times, they could try.
life after that was rather uneventful ( or as uneventful as life could be in a post-apocalyptic world ) and both hiro and ayumi grew well into their thirties. life before the outbreak now seemed nothing but a distant memory that was nearly too good to be true. and apparently, there was a new group of people that called themselves the fireflies that had been targeting the military for a long while now, and whether or not they should join their ranks was often a subject of discussion during nights when they had too much on their minds and they needed to vent. but sources through the grapevine say otherwise, so they never bothered to cross their path. if they werenât bothered by the fireflies, then they werenât going to act on them. same went for the crimson raiders and the society. they were doing just fine with each other. they didnât have to make any association when it wasnât needed.
then, before she knew it, she was turning thirty-seven and time was running out to get started on that family they had both planned on long ago. but because it was a subject that he didnât seem to be very keen to listen on anymore, ayumi didnât say much about it. she hinted at it a few times, but either he truly didnât catch it or he didnât want to catch it. eventually, ayumi couldnât hold it in any longer and she came out with her wish. her wish of being a mother of her own.
hiro was enraged.
never in her thirty-two years of knowing him has she ever seen him with such fury. It was spontaneous, or so it seemed, that it came out of nowhere. it caused ayumi to apologize for bringing such topic up, but it was too late. the damage had been done, and hiro got up and left.
now, he didnât leave forever. he was gone for only a week before he appeared in their tree house again. that week, however, had been hellish for ayumi. she was worried sick that something may have happened to him. that he may have done something reckless. but he reassured her otherwise. infact, he acted as though he had never lashed out at her only days before and was rather clingy the night he came home. so clingy infact, that he even asked her to marry him.
this came as a huge shock to her since his behavior had been so drastically different the last time she saw him. this raised some huge red flags, but in the heat of the moment, she couldnât say no. because at the end of the day, he was the love of her life. they were each otherâs ride or die and she could never be mad at him. so, from that day onward, she would call herself tezuka ayumi with pride.
but itâs not like she knew that she would be a widow only a few days later.
hiro knew he couldnât hide his bite forever, not when it would begin to take a toll on his health. but, he tried for ayumi and he fought hard. he lasted a solid three days with no sign of the infection before the fever took full effect. understandably, ayumi was upset that hiro would keep such a thing from her and she was practically uncontrollable as he died in her arms. it was incredibly dangerous but itâs not like she cared. if anything she invited death to take her as well, because she did not want to see a morning without him by her side. and if it werenât for him, she would have already outed herself. but he made her promise that she would continued to live on for the both of them. and to save her the pain of seeing him turn into a monster, he gave her one last kiss before he left. for good this time.
the night hiro left was the night a large part of herself went with him as well, and she had never been quite right ever since. to put it bluntly, she went mad. she was now all alone in the world, but itâs not like she could help it.
she would just have to go on living alone, like he made her promise. because for him, she would do just about anything.
