Absent But Not Forgotten || Jinki & BoA
Boa did her best to be silent as she opened the window on the third floor of the apartment building she was in. This was new territory for her and she had been prepared for the worse case scenario but, bursting inside a building full of spores from the very first floor and up while having to be as silent and sneaky as she could with all the damn Clickers wasn’t what she had expected. Thought, at first she though she could handle it but, as she made her way to the second floor, and then the third floor, she knew it was way too much of a risk without a plan or help. It was a shame, however. As all those infected crawled around the building, it was for sure unexplored by survivors. Or, at least, any who got out alive.
Once the window slipped open, she slid outside and onto the emergency staircase. The rusty old metal clanked and creaked under her weight; she cursed under her breath as she heard a Clicker get closer. She quickly closed the window and hurried down the stairs as fast as she could-- Boa was not in the mood to get chased by a whole pack of Clickers so early in the morning. Her boots thudded on the pavement of the alley beside the building as she jumped over the handrail. Not even taking a moment to adjust her duffel bag, she ran out to the street. Maybe that wasn’t the best course of action since there could be runners anywhere-- she had definitely seen a few as she passed through the streets earlier-- but, right at that moment, all she wanted was to get away from all those clicking noises. God, she hated Clickers.
The light of the sun blinded her for a second as she came out of the alley, making her shield her eyes only to remember she still had the mask on. She ripped the mask off her face and took deep breaths as she leaned against the wall of another building. Her eyes scanned the area, now that her head cleared out of the danger, to make sure there weren’t any more infected-- or none that had detected her in her outburst to get out of that place. That had not been a fun expedition at all.
Making sure that the coast was clear, for now, she let herself close her eyes and lean her head back. Her hands were still a bit shaky and her heart felt like was about to burst out her chest. It took her a few more seconds than she would have preferred but, she pulled herself together again. Pushing herself off the wall, she walked around the building and titter at her luck. Right there, a big signed read “Mini-Market”. Boa stepped closer and looked through the ceiling to floor window, looking for any sign of movement or spores inside. There wasn’t much to see, not even for supplies but she could tell there were a few goodies in there. At least her trip wasn’t going to be a complete waste of time.
She raised her hand and knocked on the glass hard twice. A few seconds passed but nothing happened. Taking her knuckles back to the glass, she knocked a few more times but nothing came out running towards the noise. Shrugging her shoulders, readjusting her bag, Boa looked at the side of the building and saw an emergency exit there. Two ways out and one of them was made out of pure glass, easy to break. Taking out her hunting knife, Boa forced the door open before stepping inside. Hopefully, there would be no more surprises like the last one.
