me procrastinating my fics
I do not write to be the greatest writer out there. I write because...
I LIKE it
someone else might LIKE it
it is FUN to do
I get those THOUGHTS out of my head
it's fun to look BACK on
have I mentioned it's FUN?
it's CATHARTIC
it's nice to see what I CAN DO
And also because I just like it.
non-writers will never understand the mental illness of writing an entire conversation in your head while doing dishes and then forgetting every word the second you open a blank doc
Too true😅

A New Dawn
Sergei's in London for one of his yearly visits to see Dmitri, and tonight, the boys are headed into their father's club.
Dmitri: *checks watch* "Oh, hey, we're just in time."
Sergei: "In time for what?"
Dmitri: *smirks* "You'll see."
As they walk into the main room, Sergei's eyes drift from Dmitri to the stage, specifically the woman standing onstage as the band starts playing.
Liliana:
Birds flyin' high
You know how I feel
Sun in the sky
You know how I feel
Breeze driftin' on by
You know how I feel
It's a new dawn
It's a new day
It's a new life
For me
And I'm feelin'...good
I'm feelin' good...
Sergei notices Liliana's subtle smirk as the club's regulars cheer and whistle for her, like she's fully aware that she's had them hooked from the start, and loving every second of it.
Sergei: "Who is that?"
Dmitri: "Liliana, one of Papa's best singers, and my best...Well, my only friend."
Sergei glances at Dmitri with a smile, glad that his little brother has someone to turn to when he can't be there, which makes him feel a little less guilty for leaving all those years ago.
Dmitri: "She usually performs after me, or on nights when I can't, or just whenever she feels like it.-*chuckles*-Not that Papa's complaining."
Sergei: *scoffs* "That's a first."
The brothers chuckle in agreement as Liliana glances at them, flashing Dmitri a smile in silent greeting before turning to Sergei with a sly smirk.
Liliana:
Dragonfly out in the sun
You know what I mean, don't you know?
Butterflies all havin' fun
You know what I mean
Sergei lightly chuckles as Liliana tilts her head while singing, as if she's genuinely asking/talking to him.
Liliana:
Sleep in peace when day is done
That's what I mean
And this old world is a new world
And a bold world
For me
For me
Sergei: "Well, she certainly knows how to keep 'em entertained."
Dmitri: *nods* "Might explain why she's one of the highest paid performers here. She sometimes talks to Papa afterward, but she's never told me what they talk about. Whatever it is, it involves an envelope, and by the end, she kind of looks...afraid, which, if you know her like I do, is pretty rare."
Sergei: "Well, he has a way of doing that to people."
Dmitri: *nods* "Yeah. But when she's onstage, it's like she's the boss and not him."
And that's what impresses Sergei even more. It almost reminds him of him, how he's the one calling the shots instead of his father ordering him around.
Liliana:
Stars when you shine
You know how I feel
The crowd, specifically the men, practically swoon and wolf-whistle as she places a hand over her heart and slightly bends her knees, lowering herself to enunciate the emotion behind her words.
Liliana:
Scent of the pine
You know how I feel
She then resumes her perfect, straight posture as she belts the next verse and reaches out, as if grasping for any sense of freedom she can get.
Liliana:
Oh, freedom is mine
And I know how I feel
It's a new dawn
It's a new day
It's a new life
It's a new dawn
It's a new day
It's a new life
It's a new dawn
It's a new day
It's a new life
A new life for me
For me
Dmitri: "Ah, here she goes—the grand finale, the big crowdpleaser."
Liliana:
And I'm feelin'...
This is the part where she winks at one of the audience members. Usually, she does it at random, but tonight, something within her tells her to make Sergei the lucky recipient. So, she looks right at him, locking eyes with his, as her grin turns to a smirk, and she winks while delivering the next note.
Liliana:
Good
Now, Sergei's more than just hooked. She's drawn him in--hook, line, and sinker--and that doesn't happen to him often, or ever. Usually, it's him drawing in the prey, but now he is the prey, and to his surprise, he's ok with that.
As the song ends, Dmitri smirks as he glances between his best friend and his brother, knowing that this can only lead to good things for both of them. Then, as usual, she walks off the stage toward Nikolai's booth. Their conversation is brief, and as always, he hands her an envelope before waving her off, which slightly confuses Sergei. How and why would his father act so dismissively toward his best performer? Then again, even though Sergei is his favorite, he has a funny way of showing it. So, when he looks at it like that, it makes sense why Nikolai treats her like that, and why she and Dmitri get along so well: They do everything Nikolai asks, but it's never enough for him.
She then walks over to Sergei & Dmitri, who greet her with almost identical smiles.
Liliana's POV:
Dmitri: "Lovely as always, Lil."
Me: *shrugs* "I do what I can.-*to Sergei*-Hello. Sergei, right?"
Sergei: "Uh, yeah. Hi. How do you...?"
Me: *waves hand* "Oh, Dmitri talks about you all the time. 'Sergei's the best. Sergei's awesome. Sergei this. Sergei that'. If you weren't brothers, I'd be worried for you, what with Mr. Obsessive Stalker here."
Sergei: *laughs* "I appreciate it, but you don't have to worry about me. I can handle myself."
I look Sergei up and down.
Me: "I see that."
Sergei chuckles and smirks, and I smirk back before glancing at my watch and Nikolai's booth. From the look in his eyes, I know he's waiting for me to wrap this up.
Me: "Well, if you'll both excuse me, the night is young, and I still have some work to do."
With that, I slip past the Kravinoffs and walk out the door.
{Time skip}
I'm sitting on a rooftop, kneeling to avoid being seen as I aim my long-range rifle at my first target of the night.
Sergei: "Come here often?"
I flinch in surprise as I lower my rifle and turn to see Sergei leaning against the wall across from me.
Me: "God! You nearly made me misfire!"
Sergei: "And that's a bad thing?"
Me: "It is if your father finds out. You might be the favorite son, but that won't change what he'll do to me because of my first-ever screwup."
Sergei seems confused, then concerned, as if he's put the pieces together in his mind.
Sergei: "And what might that be?"
Me: *sighs* "If he's true to his word, forget being fired. I'd be history. I doubt I have to explain what that means."
Sergei nods, knowing that 'being history' is another way of saying Nikolai would kill me if I failed. He then nods toward the envelope next to me, the same one Nikolai gave me earlier.
Sergei: "That envelope. It has names, right? People he wants you to 'take care of' for him."
Me: "Targets and money. The usual."
Sergei: *nods* "Dmitri says you sometimes walk away with this look, with fear in your eyes."
Damn, I'd hoped no one would notice, especially Dmitri.
Me: *shakes head* "Neither of you needs to worry about that. Like you, I can take care of myself."
Sergei looks me over, glancing between me and my gun with a knowing smirk.
Sergei: "I see that."
I chuckle at his callback to what I said to him earlier.
Me: "Besides, D's got enough to worry about, especially since your father doesn't seem to care if anything happens to him, despite him being the only one left to inherit his business since you're usually MIA."
Sergei's look turns defensive.
Me: "I'm not judging. God knows if I had a choice like you, I'd be doing this on my own terms. Free of charge, sometimes, but I wouldn't mind a little nest egg or whatever to keep me afloat."
Sergei: "Who says you don't?"
Me: *scoffs* "You mean besides your dad?"
Sergei: "He doesn't own you, not entirely. Besides, I'll talk to him, and I'm sure Dmitri would, too, if he knew that's what you want."
Me: "All right. And where does that leave me, besides without a job or a steady income rate?"
Sergei: "You could come with me. I do what you do, sort of, but I do it for free, and I have my own list of targets. Plus, I live where no one would be able to find us, and I visit Dmitri every year. Still, it's your call."
Me: "What are your terms?"
Sergei: *shakes head* "I don't have any. This is completely up to you. Your life, your rules, your decision."
Me: "And you trust me enough to consider working with me, even after only knowing me for one night?"
Sergei: "Dmitri trusts you. That's good enough for me."
I look down in silent consideration of Sergei's offer before looking up at him.
Me: *nods* "Deal."
Seems like this really is a new life for me, and I am indeed feeling good about it.
Only For You
{A/N: Fair warning, this is a little long, and Jess might act a bit OOC}
Jess's first few weeks in Stars Hollow have been a bit of an adjustment, but there is one bright side to his sudden relocation, not that he'd ever admit it: Emma Jones, the town songbird. Depending on the occasion, whenever the town needs live music, they turn to Emma. You can usually find her at the bookstore with Rory, the music store, the Gilmore house, or Luke's for her daily breakfast that consists of coffee and a blueberry muffin, except for when Luke makes her blueberry pancakes for her birthday. She's usually a customer at Luke's, but she's more than happy to work a few shifts at the diner when Luke needs an extra pair of hands.
Jess first noticed Emma when he passed by her and the Gilmore girls and heard her laugh, though he didn't know who she was since he only saw the back of her head. He might've asked the Gilmores or Luke who this mystery girl was, but that would imply he cares and is starting to like it here, and he's not willing to admit that yet, if ever. Later, when Emma showed up for a quick cup of coffee before her shift at Luke's and saw Jess wearing clothes similar to Luke's, she couldn't help but laugh while apologizing to Luke for doing so, not noticing the faint look of recognition on Jess's face. From there, though he didn't realize it at first, he was hooked.
Since then, he's gotten to know Emma personally at school, over coffee while studying, at work, and through hearsay from Luke & Rory: Emma has been taking singing and piano lessons with Miss Patty since she was 5, adding guitar lessons to the mix when Lane got her one for her 13th birthday. Her favorite color is red. Her favorite soda is Cherry Coke. Her favorite food is cheeseburgers and cheese fries. She's smart, kind, loyal, funny, caring, passionate about music, etc.
And when Rory told Jess that Emma spoke up for him at the town meeting set up to basically trash him, arguing that everyone seemed to like her mom before she left, Jess was both grateful and surprised that anyone would do something like that for him. He then asked what Emma meant about her mom, so Rory explained that Emma lives alone since her dad left when she was born, and her mom moved out of town last year, having never told Emma about the promotion she recieved over a week prior, which is how long it took her and her new boyfriend to pack up her stuff when Emma was at school, the Gilmores', Luke's, or asleep. She then explained that Emma's only allowed to live alone since her mom gave consent in a note, and Lorelai signed on to be her guardian.
Jess sympathized with her, of course, but he also couldn't understand how or why anyone would willingly leave Emma, the girl who always smiles, helps everyone in town with anything and everything without being asked, and rarely ever has anything negative to say about anyone or anything--Except for the time she told him that she thinks 'Pride & Prejudice', despite its intriguing premise, is too much of a slow burn and swore him to secrecy, else she'd never hear the end of it from Rory--behind.
Then, he remembered that she sometimes stays even after her shifts or their study sessions at Luke's end. He never knew why, but now he does: She's surrounded by her surrogate family all day, but at the end of the day, she has to go home to an empty house. Maybe he isn't the only one who puts up a front to keep people from seeing the harsh reality of one's life or pitying one for it. And yet, despite knowing practically everything about Emma, he's never heard her sing, and after hearing Rory's praise, he's practically chomping at the bit to see if Emma lives up to the hype.
Today, Jess is walking along the very same street where he first heard Emma's laugh, and as he comes up to the gazebo area, he hears guitar playing from afar. At first, he assumes it to be the town troubador until, at long last, he hears Emma singing.
Emma:
Wise men say
Only fools rush in
But I can't help falling in love with you
Shall I stay?
Would it be a sin?
If I can't help falling in love with you
Like a river flows
Surely to the sea
Darling, so it goes
Some things are meant to be
So take my hand
Take my whole life, too
For I can't help falling in love with you
For I can't help falling in love with you
Jess is stunned, frozen on the sidewalk in complete shock and admiration. Rory said Emma was good, but she never mentioned how good, and if she did, either he wasn't listening or she seriously downplayed it. And the look on Emma's face--focused on properly positioning her hands for each chord, yet relaxed as she plays a song she must know by heart to not miss a beat--makes Jess smile. Then, Emma looks up from her guitar, spots Jess, smiles, and waves him over, so he walks over to the gazebo.
Emma: "Hey, Jess."
Jess: "Well, aren't I lucky? Front row seat to the Jones concert. Though when I heard the guitar, I was expecting--"
Emma: "The troubadour. Yeah, well, sorry to disappoint--"
Jess: "Who says I'm disappointed?"
Emma smiles and chuckles, and Jess could swear that, now that he has something to compare it to, her laugh is almost as melodic as her voice. Dear God, what is this girl doing to him?
Emma: "Well, anyway, he doesn't usually perform here in the gazebo and I know better than to intrude on the troubadour's territory without running it by him first, unlike the last guy."
Jess: "Well, lucky me. So, this is, like, your secret spot?"
Emma: "It's hardly a secret when anyone walking by can easily see and hear me. You, for example."
Jess sits next to Emma as she sets her guitar aside.
Jess: "You come here often?"
Emma: "Yeah. I usually come here whenever I feel like it. Plus, playing out here is better than playing at home, where both the guitar and the loneliness echo and make the latter feel that much more isolating. Although at least when I come out here after a nightmare or when I can't sleep, no one's up late worrying about me. One of the perks of being independent, y'know?"
Jess gives her a sympathetic look, knowing she's trying to play off how alone she really is and how it affects her, just like he does.
Jess: "Yeah. So, how often does it happen? The nightmares."
Emma: "Not that often. Just when I have a bad day, or at random."
Jess: "Anything specific?"
Jess sees a flicker of something in Emma's eyes as she glances away and shrugs it off.
Emma: "Uh, nope, just your average bad dream."
But Jess knows better than that. He knows when someone's clamming up, having done it countless times before, so he knows how to keep this casual.
Jess: "Look, I know I'm not...y'know, the sensitive talkative type, but you could talk to me. If--If you wanted to."
Emma looks at Jess with a slightly surprised look. True, she likes him and wants to get to know him, but she's always had a hard time talking about her past. She only brought her mom up at the meeting because she thought it would help Jess's case, which Luke greatly appreciated. Plus, he's not usually this forward, so maybe she can help make it easier for him by stepping out of her own conversational comfort zone.
Emma: "Sometimes, I wonder what would've happened if I'd been there when my mom left or if my dad had left with her then instead of when I was born. Like, if I were sitting up in my room and saw her walking to his car with a suitcase or something. I wonder what they might've said, if anything, or what I might've done to stop them."
Jess: "Yeah, I get that. I used to ask myself the same thing about my dad. Though I don't know if I'd have tried to stop him from leaving. I used to, but..."
Emma: "Yeah, I get it.-*smiles*-You know, for someone who claims to be the closed off loner type, you're a pretty decent conversationalist. One might assume you like me."
Jess: *chuckles* "Only for you, Songbird."
Emma: "I don't hear any objections to the 'liking me' part."
Jess pauses as Emma teasingly smirks at him. Normally, he'd clam up and offer some lame excuse for why he has to go now. But at the same time, he doesn't want to leave her alone, especially after she opened up to him. So, he might as well give in.
Jess: *shrugs* "Guess I'm not objecting then, am I?"
Emma briefly pauses in surprise before smirking.
Emma: "So, you're saying...?"
Jess chuckles at her attempt to get him to actually say what he's hinting at, and it works like a charm.
Jess: "I like you, Emma. More than I thought I would and probably more than I should."
Emma: "Well, I like you, too, probably more than I should, so maybe that's not such a bad thing."
Jess: "Ok, but I'm not the easiest guy to put up with."
Emma: "Jess, if I can survive loneliness, I can survive you."
Jess leans forward just enough to kiss her, but lets her close the gap. In that moment, Jess vows to do everything he can to not screw this up for once in his life and to make sure Emma never feels alone again, not if he can help it.
{Time skip}
Emma walks into the diner to check in on Rory & Jess' study session, and maybe help/join them, but no one's there. So, she heads outside, spots Luke wandering around, and when he notices her, he rushes toward her with a panicked look.
Luke: "Emma, have you seen Jess? Has he called, stopped by your house, anything?"
Emma: "No, I just got here. What's going on?"
Luke: "Rory & Jess got into a car accident."
Emma: "Oh, my God! Are they--?"
Luke: "They're fine, sort of. Rory has a fractured wrist, Lorelai's at the hospital with her, but Jess is MIA."
Emma: "Do you need me to help look for him?"
Luke: *sighs* "Yes, thank you. I'll look around town, you go to whatever places you think he'd go to be alone."
Emma nods before she and Luke split up to cover more ground. Emma can't find Jess anywhere, but then she gets an idea and heads down to the lake where they had their first date, and others. When she gets there, she finds Jess sitting on the edge of the bridge staring at the lake. Emma cautiously approaches him in case he's jumpy or tense from the accident, thanking God that he seems to be unharmed. Emma walks over and sits next to Jess, and wraps an arm around him.
Jess: "I made sure she was ok."
Emma gently pulls Jess closer to her and kisses his temple.
Emma: "I know."
After staying like that for a while, Emma slowly pulls away and calls Luke to let him know that she found Jess and that he's ok. When she hangs up, Jess stands and speaks up.
Jess: "I can't stay here."
Emma: "Ok. Well, we can go to Luke's and--"
Jess: "No, I mean I can't stay here, in this town. Everyone's gonna hate me for this."
Emma: "Wait, what? Jess, come on. Let's just go back to the diner, talk to Luke, and then he can talk to--"
Jess: "They're not gonna listen to him. Em, they already think I'm the Anti-Christ, and Luke defending me would only make things worse for him."
Emma: "So you're just gonna leave? No note, no explanation, nothing?"
Jess: "He's better off without me."
Emma: "Well, I'm not."
Jess pauses, remembering the promise he made in the gazebo.
Jess: "Come with me then."
Emma: "I can't."
Jess: "Why not?"
Emma: "Jess, these people have given me everything. A home, hand-me-downs, clothes, food, music lessons, birthday parties, holiday gatherings, family, everything that matters to me. I can't just leave them out of nowhere."
Jess: "So you'd rather stay and be berated and get side-eyes and thinly-veiled 'I told you so's for having dated me, for having trusted me?"
Emma: "Yes, because that kind of thing never lasts long. I mean, I'd hate it, but I can think of a feeling that hurts a lot more and lasts a lot longer."
Jess: "And isn't that feeling only gonna get worse while they treat you like an outsider, however briefly? Maybe not Luke or Rory, but generally everyone else."
Emma doesn't answer right away because deep down, she knows he's right on some level.
Jess: "Look, I have to get my stuff anyway, so we can go back to Luke's and I'll explain everything to him. He'll probably tell everyone tomorrow anyway, but if it makes you feel better, you can write a letter for everyone else. I just...I don't belong here, but I don't wanna leave you behind."
Emma takes a moment to consider her options, factoring current and hypothetical future circumstances, before nodding. After all, he's not willing to leave her alone, nor is she willing to do so to him.
Emma: "Ok. I just need time to pack."
Jess smiles, walks over to Emma, and pulls her into a loving kiss. Afterward, Jess & Emma head back to town, splitting up so Jess can explain and pack up at Luke's and Emma can pack up and write her letter at her house. Once she's done, she heads out to the bus station to find Jess & Luke waiting for her. Jess smiles upon seeing her, glances at Luke, and steps back so they can say their goodbyes.
Emma: "Can you give this to Lorelai and the others for me?"
Luke looks down at the letter as Emma hands it to him and nods.
Luke: "Yeah, sure. No problem."
There's an awkward pause, Luke not being the talkative type either, so Emma hugs him.
Emma: "Thanks for everything."
Luke: "Anytime, Jones. Thanks for looking out for him."
Emma: "Of course."
They pull away as the bus pulls up.
Emma: "I promise I'll come back and visit ASAP."
Luke: *nods* "See you then."
Emma softly smiles and nods before retrieving her suitcase from the ground and boarding the bus. She walks to the back row and sits in one of the window seats, with Jess boarding the bus and sitting next to her not long after.
Jess: "So, ever been to New York?"
Emma: "No, but it is on my bucket list."
Jess: "Good, 'cause that's where we're going. We can stay with my mom till we figure out what to do going forward."
Emma nods as she looks out the window at the town she used to call home. To her, it always will be, but soon, she'll have a new home in New York. Jess takes her hand in his and gently squeezes it.
Jess: "I really appreciate this, Emma."
Emma: "I know. I'm fine, really. Just..."
She doesn't finish her sentence, lost for the right words to say, but Jess nods in understanding, lifts her hand to his, and kisses it.
Jess: "I know. Don't worry. We'll be ok, and everything's gonna be fine. We can come back after this blows over."
Emma: "You don't have to come back."
Jess: "What, and leave you to fend off those gossipy vultures--minus Lorelai, Luke, & Rory--alone? Not a chance. We're in this together, Songbird."
Emma smiles and leans her head against Jess's shoulder as he releases her hand and wraps his arm around her. After riding in comfortable silence for a while, Jess speaks up.
Jess: "Y'know, some might call you a lovesick fool for doing something like this after knowing me less than a year."
Emma: "Well, it was a pretty eventful year, and they don't know you like I do."
Jess: "Fair enough. And the 'lovesick' thing?"
Emma chuckles as she lifts her head from his shoulder and gently turns his head to face her.
Emma: "Only for you, Handsome."
Jess smirks as she pulls him into a loving, longing kiss, hopeful that everything will work out in the end.
Donnie vs Witch Town Imagine
Y/N's POV:
You know how everyone says their preteen years were 'so awkward and weird'? Well, imagine if you're best friends with four mutant turtles who learned ninjitsu from their actor-turned-mutant rat father. But it's not all bad. None of it is. I get to learn how to cook and do art from Mikey, Leo comes to me to test out his one-liners, Raph comes to me for advice, April helps me out with whatever 'human' stuff I need help with, and Splinter's become a surrogate father to me. Plus, I get to help Donnie with his incredible inventions.
I wouldn't say I play favorites, but Donnie & I have gotten the closest to each other out of everyone. For one thing, he asks me for help with picking up social cues, tuning into his emotions, and always helps me with my homework. At first, I didn't think we'd get along very well since our personalities are different, with me being more outgoing and him being socially awkward. But after a while, we started to get to know each other, and now he's my closest friend in the world. So close that I've started noticing these little things about him, which has inevitably led to my crush on him. I want to tell him, but I've never found the right moment to since he's so cool, confident, and cute, and I'm...me. But enough about all that.
Right now, the six of us are at the center of the Hidden City and looking at a map to find all the places we want to go to today. April wanted to come, but she's helping Sunita study for an upcoming test at school.
Mikey: "Hidden City Zoo?"
Leo: "Ooh, luxury resort."
Donnie: "Battle Nexus!"
Me: "Witch Town!"
Raph: "Alright, we've narrowed down our list to 200 activities. I don't wanna spend my whole day in the Hidden City voting. So I say we each do our own thing."
All: "Bye."
Me: "Have fun, guys!"
Everyone else takes their leave while Donnie & I stay behind to decide what we should do first.
Donnie: "Battle Nexus, here we come! Rumor has it that Shadow Fiend is quite a fierce champion."
Me: "I'd love to go, Tello, but I need to stop by Witch Town for that project I told you about yesterday."
Donnie: "What? You're asking a witch for help on your science fair project?"
Me: "Donnie, listen-"
Donnie: "But why not ask me? Mr. Science!"
Me: *smirks* "Hmm, let's see. There's the Condiment Corruption Incident, the Floor is Lava Incident, and don't even get me started on the 'Mind Controller' Incident."
Donnie: "Hm, that must have been the work of another Teenage Mutant Ninja Donnie. You know what they say. Pics, or it didn't happen."
Me: *chuckles* "Pics like the ones April sent me when I told her I was coming with you guys?"
Donnie: "Touche. Still, mystic powers could never be more tingly than my sweet sweet science."
Me: "Even so, try to let to go, ok?"
Donnie: "Let it go? Do you even know me?!"
Me: "Better than anyone else, I imagine. Look, Donnie, you're the best scientist in the world, and I appreciate all you do for me, but I want to explore my options. It doesn't mean I value your science skills any less, but can you trust that I know what I'm doing?"
Donnie sighs with a small smile.
Donnie: "Fine."
Me: "Thank you."
So, we walk toward a town filled with multiple magic houses, Yokai wizards, and magic.
Me: "Wow! There's so many witches to choose from."
Donnie: "Hate to disagree. Oh, who am I kidding? I'd love to disagree. So to reiterate, not a fan of mystics."
Me: *mutters* "At least try to be more open-minded."
Donnie: "Sorry. What was that? I was too busy stewing over how everyone needs to be more like me."
Me: *laughs* "Wouldn't that be something?"
Donnie smiles as a witch, and her ghostly cats approach us.
Mira: "What a joy, strangers. I'm Mira, Mayor of Witch Town. Welcome welcome, welcome."
Cats: "Good day, hello. Please sign our visitors' log to stay, don't go. We pledge not to turn you into a frog."
Me: "Wow! Now that's a cool greeting."
Donnie: "Smoke & Mirrors."
Me: "Sorry about my skeptic friend."
Mira: "Not to worry. Today is all about making peace, even with our crankiest of neighbors. For today is our Peace Offering Festival, started 600 years ago by our esteemed founder, Abigail the Good. So you two kids go. Go have some merrily mystic fun."
Donnie: "You know, the feeling of fun is a chemical reaction in the brain, so mystic fun will always be science fun. Zing!"
Me: "Donnie, don't zing the nice witch lady."
Donnie: "Come on, Y/N/N. You know I never pass up a good zing."
While we're arguing, Mira and her ghost cats walk away with nervous looks.
Me: "Play nice, D. I really need their help. I don't ask you for much, so can you please be less judgmental?"
Donnie: *sighs* "Fine. For you, for one day only, I will just let something go."
We then turn to see a nearby witch use her magic to summon giant red worms from underground.
Gentry: "From soil to sky, I summon the beasts of the underworld."
Me: "Whoa! That was so cool!"
Donnie: "Oh, yes. Very cool, says Donnie as he quietly lets something go."
I place an arm on Donnie's shoulder with a grateful smile, which he reciprocates before the witch tries and fails to catch the creatures.
Gentry: "Darn! Missed another one."
Me: "It was still cool. You're a pretty powerful witch."
Gentry: "Thanks. I've gotta collect the yannis worms for tonight's peace offering potion. They're so hard to catch, and I'm, like, totally behind."
Me: "I get it. I have a project on chairs that I'm way behind on too. I was hoping to find a spell to give it some razzle dazzle."
Gentry: "I don't have much time, but in honor of Peace Offering Day, I'd be happy to help you out. Would something like this work? Let the sedentary sparkle!"
With a wave of her hand, Gentry surrounds a nearby Yokai sitting in a chair with fireworks.
Me: "Awesome!"
Donnie: *clenches teeth* "Ooh, fireworks. Science never would've thought of something it was the original inventor of."
Witch: "What was that? Did I hear thou doth need dazzle enhancements? Perchance this."
The witch then uses magic to make the chair levitate in the air.
Me: "Nice! You guys are amazing!"
Mira: "Oh, how lovely. We're helping our guests dazzle up some chairs. I love it! Splendid! Come one, come all, let's show our guests what we witches can do."
Then, more witches gather to make the chairs float in bubbles, grow wings, and be set on fire.
Me: "So many choices. It's hard to decide."
Donnie: "Oh, that's it! No more! I'm unclenching my teeth. Your mystic magic is not amazing. It is simple and soft. There, I said it."
Mira: "You slight us on Peace Offering Day?"
Me: "Of course he didn't. He promised he wouldn't. And he's never once broken a promise to me. Right, Donnie?"
Donnie: "Y/N, I'm sorry. I can stay quiet no longer. You should've selected me to help you on our project. Science is king, and I shall prove it through a scientific combination of biology & physics that I call song!"
Me: "Wait, what?"
Donnie:
Let me show you the things that science can do
It's good for me and it's good for--
Before Donnie can finish, he accidentally blasts a nearby statue to pieces.
Donnie: "Ooh. Uh, you know what'll fix that? Science."
Mira: "Out! Away! Be gone! You are banished from Witch Town! Gentry, remove these outsiders."
Me: "Wait, you can't!"
Then, Gentry teleports Donnie & me to the gates of Witch Town.
Me: "So much for being open-minded. Now I'll never get help with my project."
Gentry: "Your project? I'm the one who's behind. If I don't catch enough worms in the next hour, the town can't make the peace offering potion, and that is so not good."
Donnie: "Behind, you say? So not good, you say. Light bulb! I have a solution. All right, Gentry. Science and I can help you get you worms, but only if you give Y/N some mystic bling for her project."
Me: "You mean it?"
Donnie: "My offering for not listening to you earlier and breaking my promise."
Gentry nods in agreement and hands us the list of ingredients needed for the potion. Then, Donnie turns his staff into a jackhammer to drill into the ground and retrieve the worms.
Donnie: "Yes! Ha ha!"
He then uses a drone to scan the worms. Meanwhile, Gentry has me sit in a chair to see which mystic effect I should use for my project. We finally settle on a bouncy charm as Donnie presents Gentry with a jar full of worms.
Donnie: "Science. The bad boy of academic disciplines."
Gentry: "Ew, what's up with those worms? They look way off."
Donnie: "Oh, they're fine. They were just looking a little small, so I speed-aged them with--Say it with me, now--Science! You did not say it with me."
Gentry: "Well, they look weird, but we're out of time, so they'll have to do. Hurry up!"
With that, the three of us rush to the center of the town as Gentry pours the worms into a cauldron.
Donnie: "Ah, will you look at that? Banished and I still saved the day."
Me: "Wait, that's why you did this?"
Donnie: "No, it's because I was sorry about being so close-minded about how wrong they were."
Mira: "As Peace Offering Day ends, our old friendships are renewed."
Then, a giant monster-like Yokai stomps toward us.
{A/N: In this context, Morgan is pronounced 'More-gahn'}
Mira: "Oh, the great Morgan. Accept our offering and leave us in peace for another year."
Morgan drinks the potion as Donnie shoves his way to the front of the crowd.
Donnie: "Ha ha! Your mystic potion was brought to you by science! How do you like them worms?"
Then, Morgan changes color as he roars.
Mira: "Something's amiss. His orange hue points to worms improperly aged!"
Me: "Uh oh."
Donnie: "I don't know. He looks fine to me."
Morgan then starts destroying the town.
Donnie: "So, you guys got this? I'm sorta late for a thing."
Witch: "Seize him! Seize the scientist!"
I grab Donnie by the arm and yank him away from the crowd as the witches use their wands to open fire at us. We manage to lose them as they divert their attention to fighting Morgan.
Me: "We've gotta help them!"
Donnie: "Yes, we cannot let that thing destroy their town."
Me: "That's the spirit!"
Donnie: "Because when I defeat him with my tech, they will have to admit science is better."
Me: "Donnie!"
Donnie: "Occam's razor!"
With that, Donnie flies into the air and uses his tech bo to hit Morgan repeatedly, but Morgan grabs the mallet and shoves Donnie away, causing me to drop the charm Gentry gave me as Donnie crashes into me. The charm's magic is then absorbed into my katana, the signature weapon that I keep onhand in case of an emergency.
Me: "Look out!"
I raise my katana to deflect a blast of magic.
Me: "Man! Witches got game!"
Donnie: "Lucky mystic swipe."
Me: "Oh, admit it already. Sometimes mystic powers aren't all that bad."
Donnie: "I will not."
Me: "Why?! Why are you so obsessed with proving me wrong on this?"
Donnie: "Because I'm the science guy.-*sighs*-If mystic powers can do everything I can do but better then why would you guys even need me?"
I don a sympathetic look as I gently punch Donnie's arm.
Donnie: "Ow! What?"
Me: "Do you honestly believe the only reason you're part of this team, and my best friend, is because of your tech?"
Donnie: "Well, no, but-"
Me: "Donnie, your tech is amazing, but that's not why I love you. I mean, it's a perk, but--"
Donnie: "You love me?"
I pause as Donnie looks at me in amazement. Well, now is as good a time as any.
Me: *chuckles* "Of course I love you, dummy. How could I not? You're kind, brave, strong, funny, intelligent, and so much more. But if you're not ok with that, we can still be--"
Before I can finish, Donnie pulls me into a hug before pulling away, tucking a strand of my hair behind my ear, and caressing my cheek.
Donnie: "I love you, too."
I don a surprised look, and before we can seal the confession with a kiss, Morgan roars with fire coming out of his mouth.
Donnie: "To be continued."
Me: "Agreed. Mystic-science slingshot?"
Donnie nods with a confident grin as he lifts me into the air and flings me toward Morgan as we attack him with his staff, my katana, and the literal kicking of his shell.
Me: "Thanks for the accidental power up, Gentry. You da witch!"
Donnie: "Witches of Witch Town, hear me. I was wrong to not be more open-minded. It's just that mystic powers are the one thing I have not been able to solve. As a man of science, it is maddening to finally come upon something you do not understand. Especially when your dum-dum brothers totally do, and then wave their dum-dum weapons in their dum-dum hands all the dum-dum time! But that is just a long way of saying, I am sorry."
I smile with pride as I take Donnie's hand into my own and grasp it as he turns to me with a loving smile.
Mira: "Seize him!"
Witches: "Seize the scientist!"
Donnie: "Perhaps you do not appreciate how rare a heartfelt moment is for me."
With that, the witches seize us and throw us into the same prison cell as Raph. Donnie then leads me over to a corner for some privacy.
Donnie: "So, what are you going to do about your project?"
Me: "Well, now that the magic plan's backfired, I was hoping my strong, intelligent, scientist boyfriend could help me."
Donnie: "What did you have in mind?"
Me: "How about some fireworks with a dash of chemistry?"
Donnie: "I don't know. Maybe a beta test would persuade me."
I smirk as Donnie does the same before pulling me into a longing, lasting kiss.
Leo: "Finally!"
Donnie & I pull away as Leo enters the cell with a cocky grin.
Leo: "We were starting to think you'd never admit it. On that note, Mikey & Dad owe me $10 each."
Oh, brother. Why couldn't we be put into separate cells?

Morning Routine OVA Imagine
{Then; WIth Adam; A/N: Just to be clear, Adam & Gabi don't live together, but Adam has conditioned her to follow the same schedule as him to prepare her for what life will be like once they're married. At first, he made a list for her to review, memorize, and follow, but by now, she's practically hardwired to follow it without even looking at it.}
Time: 5:30 AM
As always, I get up with the dawn, stretch, make the bed, and head into the bathroom to freshen up and shower.
Time: 6:05 AM
I get dressed and open the curtains to let the sunlight in and brighten the room.
Time: 7 AM
I head out to the garden to have breakfast and coffee with my father in silence while he sips from his cup and reads his morning paper. Not long ago, I used to try to make small talk with him, and Adam, if and when he stopped by for an early visit, but by now I've learned to let them be. It's not so bad, especially with such a nice view of the flowers and fresh air, but I'd still like someone to talk to at times like this. Then again, I'll have plenty of time to do so at and after school with Joe & Cherry.
Time: 9 AM
While Adam and I share some classes, most of them are separate, so I have some time away from his repeatedly glancing up from his schoolwork to check and make sure my posture and etiquette don't falter. Now and then, I stare out the window, imagining what I'll be doing at this hour once school's over--Probably sitting silently beside Adam while he handles business in his office, only ever speaking if Adam ever asks me about something, which rarely happens even now. At the same time, I daydream about what life would be like if the engagement ended or never existed. I'd be free to do what I want, live my life on my terms, maybe even find someone who doesn't have me on a leash, no schedules to follow except my own. But, as my father's only child, I have a legacy to uphold, and merging with Adam's family is the best course of action, at least that's what my father says.
After a while, I lose track of where the teacher left off pre-daydream, nervously glancing between the chalkboard and my notebook. I can't slip up, especially not in school. If my grades slip, my dad will kill me, and Adam...Adam wouldn't like it much either, though I'm hoping it wouldn't be as bad as what he does when I 'slip up' according to his standards. Then, a paper airplane lands on my desk. I unfold it to find notes on what I missed, not one detail missing. I glance around the room to find the source and eventually catch Joe smiling and winking at me. I smile back and nod my thanks before slipping his notes into my notebook and flipping to the next page to write down the rest of the teacher's explanation.
Time: 15:28
After school, Adam invites me over for afternoon tea, which I accept since it's less of an invitation and more of an obligation per his and my schedule(s). Much like breakfast with my father, we drink in silence.
Time: 16:30
After an hour or so of discussing hypotheticals regarding my/our future with Adam and his aunts, I'm finally allowed time off, so to speak, unless Adam calls on me again later. I text Joe to see if he and/or Cherry are free, which they are, so I head out to meet up with them at the skate park. Between practicing for 'S' and freestyling, we catch up on what we've missed in each other's absences and what we might do over the weekend besides racing at 'S'.
Time: 17:30
After a while, as the sun starts getting lower in the sky, I say my goodbyes and head home, glancing back at them with a smile, only to find Joe doing the same to me. Much as I love honoring my family legacy, and supposedly my family itself, I like it when it's just me, Joe, and Cherry. It's the only time I have where I can be me, the real me, not what everyone else, AKA Adam and my father, need me to be. No rules, no expectations, just me and my best friends, living as freely as we can.
Once I'm home, I head to my room, having nothing else to do except homework, practicing piano, and horseback riding once the homework is done.
Time: 19:05
Now that I have some me time, I start on my nightly routine, which mainly consists of a silent dinner with my father, as usual, then off to my room.
Time: 20:20
I head into the bathroom to shower, change into my pajamas, brush and floss my teeth, and do my skincare routine.
Time: 20:50
Then, I sit down in one of the armchairs in my room to watch TV, but not much is on, so I decide to read instead.
Time: 21:30
Finishing the chapter I've reached in my book, I leave my bookmark in it, and slip into bed to get some sleep and dream of the life I want instead of the life I have. Maybe someday, it won't just be a dream.
{Now; With Joe; Most of this will resemble the schedule listed in Joe's character wiki}
Time: 7 AM
I get up as Joe's alarm goes off, which doesn't bother me since we generally have to get up at the same time anyway. After getting dressed, he kisses me goodbye before heading out for his morning jog while I make the bed. When he gets back, he kisses me in greeting before starting on his strength training.
Time: 7:30 AM
While Joe showers, I prepare a healthy, well-balanced breakfast, with Joe's half consisting of the food(s) in the diet he follows to keep in shape and keep his muscles at peak condition--his words, not mine. Once his shower's done, he heads into the dining room to sit across from me. While we eat, we engage in small talk here and there, mostly discussing ideas for new recipes for the restaurant. At first, it was a little unnerving, or rather, surprising, when Joe wanted to talk to me while we ate, given that I'd grown used to eating in silence. Eventually, I got used to it, better yet, I enjoyed it, and I still do. After all, silence always makes me feel kind of lonely, especially back then, but with Joe, I don't feel that way as often anymore, if ever.
Time: 8 AM
Joe & I stock up the restaurant and prep the kitchen and dining area for when we open up.
Time: 9 AM
Once the early morning shift ends, it's time to prep for the lunch rush.
Time: 12:00-15:00
We open the restaurant and let the arriving customers in, mentally preparing for the inevitable rush of orders we'll get, though sometimes even the lunch 'rush' is pretty chill.
Time: 15:00-16:00
By now, the lunch service is reaching an end, and it's almost time for us to close the restaurant so we can prep for the dinner service.
Time: 16:00
Usually, while Joe & I prep for the dinner service, Reki and the others show up, and we'll end up feeding them whatever's available at the moment.
Time: 18:00
We re-open the restaurant and welcome guests who have come for dinner.
Time: 23:00
We close the restaurant, clean up the kitchen and dining area, and set up for tomorrow.
Time: 24:00
Once home, Joe starts his usual evening workout while I sit on the couch and read. Eventually, Joe heads upstairs to shower, so I bookmark my place in my book before heading into the kitchen to prepare his protein drink and my smoothie.
Time: 25:00
Once his shower's done, I hand him his smoothie, receiving a 'thank you' kiss before we each drink our drinks. Then, we head up so I can shower and get ready for bed. Eventually, I climb into bed beside Joe, kissing him goodnight before finding my usual place lying on and cuddled into his chest while he wraps one arm around me, while the other traces patterns on my back to help ease me into sleep.
Joe: *kisses my temple* "I love you."
I smile, keeping my eyes closed before softly kissing his skin in response.
Me: "I love you more."
Joe: "Not possible."
I softly chuckle, and as I drift off, I think back on my life then and now, how much it's changed for the better since Adam left and Joe & I got together. Back then, this kind of thing--genuine TLC, love, and affection--was just part of a daydream. Now, it's my reality, and I owe it all to my husband, the one person who knows and loves me for who I am beneath the surface, something for which I love him all the more.
Love Born Anew
Summary: Gabi has known Adam, Joe, & Cherry for a few years, having known Adam the longest, given that their fathers are business partners who arranged for them to marry eventually. Adam agreed, merely to keep up appearances, and it saved him the trouble of finding an 'Eve' himself. With the engagement, he could create his own Eve from scratch, so to speak. Gabi was and still is against it, but she knew there was no point in going against her father's wishes. So, until she could figure something out or find an alternative, she went along with the charade. Since then, she's grown closer to Joe & Cherry, especially Joe. Now, she thinks she's finally found a way out of her father's and Adam's shadow, but Adam isn't letting her go without a fight. Literally.
3rd Person POV:
Adam is about to get into the limo that's taking him to the airport where he'll be flying off to live in the US for the foreseeable future.
Adam: "Oh, and you might want to check up on Gabi. She seemed a bit fragile when I last saw her at the hospital."
Joe's head jerks up to look at Adam at the mention of Gabi being in a hospital. He then realizes that Adam called Gabi by her real name and not his pet name for her.
Joe: "What happened?"
Adam looks back at Kaoru & Joe with a wickedly sly grin.
Adam: "She was a bad Eve."
Kaoru & Joe's eyes widen as Adam gets into his car, and Joe races to hop onto and ride his bike to the hospital. When he gets there, after asking the front desk for Gabi's room number, he dashes into the room and freezes in place at the sight of her. She's lying in a hospital bed, covered in cuts and bruises, some bigger than others, her left leg in an elevated sling, a black eye forming and swelling around her right eye, and a red mark on her face, presumably from when Adam slapped her. Her body isn't covered head to toe in injuries, or at least not entirely, but it's hard for Joe not to look at how badly his ex-friend hurt her. How she can sleep peacefully, or at all, is beyond him. Still, her eyes are closed, so she must be asleep. Joe slowly approaches the bed and moves the chair to sit on her left side since her left eye is unharmed and more accessible for her to see through. He then gently takes her hand and looks up at her face, still as beautiful as always in his eyes, even with the black eye.
Joe: "I'm sorry."
Gabi: *groans* "Joe?"
Gabi's POV:
I open my eyes to find Joe sitting to my left with my hand in his.
Joe: "Hey, Princess."
I smile and slowly try to sit up but wince, still sore from everything.
Joe: "Easy there. How do you feel? I mean, besides the general 'ouch'."
Me: *chuckles* "I'm ok now. The doctors said I can go home within a week or so. But my knee is pretty banged up, so I may never skate again. Where's Che—I mean, Kaoru?"
Joe: "He's on his way, I think. I don't really know. I came as soon as I heard about you."
Me: "From whom?"
Joe: "Adam."
I cringe at the mention of my now ex-fiancee, the reason I'm here to begin with.
Joe: "He's leaving if that helps anything. Heading out to live in the US. Good riddance."
Me: "You don't have to say that. Adam's your best friend besides Kaoru."
Joe: "He was my friend. Not anymore."
Me: "Joe—"
Joe: "He left you here, alone and hurt, without so much as a 'goodbye' or an explanation for why he did this or why he left. I mean, how did he make bruises that big?"
Me: "Technically, he didn't. His skateboard did."
Joe's eyes widen at the idea, shocked that his ex-friend could be so violent with the thing he loves most and use it against the person he was 'dating', if you can call it that.
Me: "Kept going till it snapped in half. Then, he started using his hands, or rather, fists."
Joe gently squeezes my hand in his as his look changes from shock to sympathy.
Joe: "Why? What happened up to that point?"
Me: "First, I told him to stop calling me 'Eve', then I said I wanted out. Out of the arrangement that I never even wanted in the first place, out of his trying to mold me into something I'm not, just out."
Joe: "And that's when...?"
Me: "No. His first reaction was to argue against it, but I held my ground this time. Then he asked why I asked to get out of the arrangement 'all of a sudden'. Honestly, I'd always wanted out, but I figured that if I wanted out, it was now or never. God forbid I went to the US with him, and this happened later where you couldn't—I mean, where I wouldn't have help."
Joe looks down at the ground, then back up at me.
Joe: "I'm sorry. I'm so sorry this happened, especially to you. If I'd known, I would've come sooner or stopped him."
Me: "You couldn't have known. I didn't know it was going to happen until it did."
Joe: "Actually, I kind of did. He's been causing accidents for other skaters in and out of 'S' for a while now."
Me: "Still, you didn't know he was gunning for me next. If it wasn't me, it might've been another skater. I mean, I'm glad it wasn't, but still."
Joe smiles slightly at that before it fades.
Joe: "What did you say when he asked, 'Why now?'."
Me: "Nothing, which only made him angrier. He kept asking, and then, he jumped to the conclusion that I'd found someone else."
Joe: "But the only other men you know are Kaoru and...Me."
Me: "Joe."
Joe: "This is my fault."
Me: "No, don't say that."
Joe: "It's true."
Me: "No, it isn't. Adam did this, so it's his fault, not yours."
Joe: "But he hurt you because—"
Me: "Because he thought I had done something wrong, which I kind of did."
Joe: "You? What could you have possibly done wrong?"
Me: "I fell for someone that isn't him."
Joe: "Who?"
I hesitate to answer, but he seems to take my silence as an answer, more specifically, he takes it as my way of saying...
Joe: "Me?"
Me: *smirks* "Who else?"
Joe: "Well, Kaoru."
Me: "Kaoru is one of my closest friends, but that's it. He's more like a brother to me."
Joe: "But he's smarter, more financially stable, and better suited for you."
Me: "Joe, I've spent my whole life doing things according to what someone else, be it Adam or my father, decides would be best for me. Now that I'm free of them, I'll do what feels right according to me. No one else. I want what I want, and that's you."
Joe's quiet for a while before gently pulling me into a lasting, loving, passionate kiss. He then takes my hands and locks eyes with me, our foreheads leaning against one another.
Joe: "I promise, from now on, no matter what happens or where I am, I will always be here for you. You're so beautiful, inside and out, body, mind, and soul, and I love you so much."
I smile and place my hand on his cheek. Joe closes his eyes as he smiles and leans into my touch.
Me: "I love you more, Kojiro Nanjo."
Joe pulls me into another kiss before caressing and stroking my face with his thumbs.
Joe: "Call me Joe."
The Spiderhead Effect
{Warning: Mild references of violence; Viewer discretion advised}
Elena's POV:
{Then; Years Ago}
I don't regret what I did. I may feel slight remorse, as any human would, but I'm glad to be out of that house. However, there are some things I'm having second thoughts about, like voluntarily living in a state-of-the-art penitentiary while being subjected to random drug trials daily. On the bright side, it is state-of-the-art, I have a much better room than my old one, and I have space to roam around without supervision. Plus, the guy in charge is nice and even when I'm in the testing room or just talking with him in the kitchen or wherever, he makes this feel less like a prison and more like a home, a real home, one that I almost hate to imagine leaving once my time here is done. But, at some point, they'll have no use for me anymore, and I'll have to figure out what it's like to live alone for the first time, first in prison and then the outside world post-release, if ever. Till then, I might as well make the most of it.
Steve: *via microphone* "Alright, Elena, you are an incarcerated volunteer in the Spiderhead clinical trial program. Up for another round?"
Me: "With you, always. But let's start with the trial(s) first and see where the evening takes us."
Steve: *laughs via microphone* "Never a dull moment with you, Sunshine. Ok, before we begin, I need your permission to administer B-15. Drip on?"
Me: *nods* "Acknowledge."
Steve: *via microphone* "You should be feeling the effects right about...now. So, how have you been?"
Me: "Good. A lot calmer than I was when I arrived here, content even."
Steve: *via microphone* "Good, that's what we're going for. Ok, uh, are you uncomfortable in any way or experiencing any side-effects?
Me: "No, nothing aside from the need to speak when spoken to, but whether that's from the drug or basic manners is up to you."
Steve: *via microphone* "One way to find out. How did you feel before, during, or after your double homicide?"
Me: "Before, I was...Afraid."
Steve: *via microphone* "Ok, that's understandable. Can you tell me why?"
Me: "I wanted a way out, but I could only think of one way, and I didn't know if it would work. Would I get away with it? Would they fight back? Would he hit me again? During--I mean, it was over as soon as it'd started--But during, I felt brave, I guess.-*chuckles*-Maybe powerful is a better word."
Steve: *via microphone* "Your words, your choice. And after?"
Me: "Free, at peace, excited. I could finally be something other than what my father made me."
Steve: *via microphone* "And what was that?"
I know I need to say more, but part of me still feels reluctant.
Steve: *via microphone* "Ok, maybe a little G-46 will make this easier. Drip on?"
There's a slight pause.
Steve: *via microphone* "Remember, this is all part of the process to help you get better and make your life easier."
Me: *slightly nods* "Acknowledge."
Steve: "Ok, let's try that again. What, in your own words, did your father turn you into?"
Me: "A prisoner, servant, bartender.-*giggles*-I make a mean Moscow Mule."
Steve: *via microphone* " I'll bet. And what about the other person, his girlfriend, I take it?"
Me: *chuckles* "Oh, please. My dad could barely hold down my mother, let alone a girlfriend.-*laughs slightly harder*-I'd feel sorry for 'em both if they weren't technically cheating."
3rd Person POV:
Steve swipes his finger across the device that controls Elena's MobiPak, which makes her less inclined to laugh.
Elena's POV:
Steve: *via microphone* "Cheating?"
Me: "My parents were separated, somewhat legally, but she didn't stick around long enough to file for a separation or divorce, so they were technically still married afterward, but that didn't stop Dad from heading out to bars and clubs and coming home late with what's-her-names practically every week."
Steve: *via microphone* "So, if you hated your father so much and he was such an awful person, why stay?"
Me: *shrugs* "Moral obligation. And I feared what would happen if my dad ever found me. I mean, he'd been rough before, but I didn't know what he might do if he found out I'd left and thought I'd betrayed/abandoned him. And frankly, I didn't want to find out, so I stayed and did what I could to take care of him, to survive."
Steve: *via microphone* "Ok, and how did you feel when the police arrived and arrested you?"
Me: "Pissed."
Steve: *chuckles via microphone* "Why's that?"
Me: "They took away my freedom, the only thing I'd ever wanted, the only thing that kept me going or made any of it worthwhile until now."
Steve: *via microphone* "And what's changed since then? Like, why do you say, 'until now'?"
Me: "Because during my arrest and trial, I felt like a prisoner even still, even with him gone. Now, it feels less like imprisonment and more like a home. And I haven't had that in...I can't even remember how long."
Steve stares at me, sympathetically, with a hint of something else before increasing my dosage or possibly adding a new one to my MobiPak.
Steve: *via microphone* "Now, after everything, how would you describe your life?"
Whether it's the drug or the relief of getting all this off my chest, I feel the urge to smile as my vision somewhat brightens, like suddenly it's prettier, brighter, nicer.
Me: "Paradise. I mean, the food's good, I'm allowed to leave my room for something other than dragging a drunk off the floor and into bed or serving his 2nd or 3rd beer of the evening, and the company here is much better than that of my previous 'home', if you could even call it that."
Steve: *via microphone* "Well, the feeling is mutual."
At that, I chuckle and smile.
Steve: "And how do you feel right now?"
3rd Person POV:
Just this once, Steve forgoes the verbal consent and increases Elena's dose of N-40.
Elena's POV:
Me: "Safe, and happy, more so than I've ever been."
Steve: *via microphone* "Well, let's hope we can keep it that way."
{Now}
I'm sitting between Steve & Mark as we prepare to start a G-46 test on one of our volunteers.
Steve: *via microphone* "Ok, Ray, you are an incarcerated volunteer in the Spiderhead clinical trial program. Before we begin, we need your permission to administer G-46. Drip on?"
Ray: "Acknowledge."
So, I use the controller for Ray's MobiPak to add a standard dose of G-46, AKA Laffodil, into his MobiPak, nodding for Steve to proceed with the next part of the usual G-46 procedure.
Steve: *via microphone* "What was the ghost's favorite fruit?-*pauses*-Boo-berry."
Ray: *snickers* "No shit, that's funny."
Ok, so far, so good.
Steve: *via microphone* "What did the magician say to the fisherman?-*pauses*-Pick a cod, any cod."
Now, Ray's laughing hysterically.
Steve: *via microphone* "What do you call cheese that isn't yours?"
I bite my lip mid-smile, and Steve glances at me and smiles back, knowing that I love when he tells this joke, cheesy as it is.
Steve: *via microphone* "Nacho cheese."
Ray's hysterical laughter increases, but now the real test begins.
Steve: *via microphone* "Alright, Ray, Ray, these next ones aren't jokes, more just facts, ok?"
Ray: *laughing* "Oh, yeah?"
Steve nods as Mark relays random facts to see if Ray will still be laughing by the end.
Mark: *via microphone* "In the 1994 genocide in Rwanda, over 800,000 people died."
Ray tries not to laugh, but due to the G-46, it still comes out as a snicker.
Mark: *via microphone* "You are serving--You are serving 4 consecutive life sentences without the possibility of parole."
Ray continues laughing, seemingly unable to stop, earning satisfied smiles from Steve, glad to know that the test was successful, taking note of the results in his notepad.
Steve: *via microphone* "Ray, thank you. You are free to cruise, buddy."
Ray remains in his seat, still laughing, as Steve high-fives Mark and kisses me, smiling. I'm just happy he's happy. I'm glad the trial worked, but as a former trial subject, I'm more interested in what it means to Steve and how happy it makes him. After all, what's the point in being married to a successful businessman, the very man who gave me true freedom, if you can't share in the successes and the happiness it brings him?

Forbidden Love
Mutants are real. I know New York is full of weird stuff, especially on the news, but this is...beyond weird. Let me back up for a second. First off, I'm nothing special. I go to an ordinary school; I have two ordinary heart surgeons for my parents, and lead an ordinary life. Yet, here I am, hiding in the janitor's closet with a 5'3" talking turtle with a purple mask and hoodie, a staff, and goggles. After about two minutes, he leans his ear against the door.
Donnie: "Ok. I think they're gone."
Y/N: "Who's they?"
Donnie: "The Purple Dragons."
Y/N: "The tech geeks?"
Donnie: "Geeks, maybe. Criminals, definitely."
Y/N: "Criminals? Wait, who are you? 'Cause for someone who, to my recollection, doesn't go to this school, you know an awful lot about my classmates."
Donnie: "Oh, right. I'm Donatello, but you can call me Donnie. I don't go here, but my friend, April, sometimes asks me to help her with her schoolwork, like today. I know about the Dragons' life outside of school because I've stopped them from robbing a tech company and a drone race."
Y/N: "So, you're like a mutant cop or something?"
Donnie: "I prefer 'vigilante' or 'genius', but I'll let you be the judge of that. And it's not just me. My brothers and I are a team of ninjas who fight crime by night. And day. Really, whenever."
Y/N: "Cool."
Donnie: "And you are...?"
Y/N: "Oh, right! Sorry. I'm (f/n), but my friends call me (n/n)."
Donnie: "Well, hopefully, I can call you that, too."
Y/N: *smirks* "Depends on how well the rest of this day goes."
Donnie: *chuckles* "Right."
Y/N: "Maybe we can continue this somewhere less crowded?"
Donnie nods with a smile and opens the door, revealing the now-empty hallway. We walk through the halls, Donnie peeking in and out of the shadows, earning a laugh from me at how sneaky he's being, even though there's no one here but us. I know we just met, but something about him makes me feel like we're connected, even if only by chance, assuming said connection is mutual and not just part of my imagination. Maybe with time, we could become more than friends.
Once we near the library, Donnie takes my hand and leads me around the room.
{A/N: The 'Ohh's and 'la la la la's are part of the background music for this}
Donnie:
I know it might be crazy
But did you hear the story?
Y/N:
I think I heard it vaguely
Donnie:
A girl and a genius
Y/N:
Oh, tell me more, boy
Sounds like a fantasy
Both:
Oh, what could go so wrong
With a girl and a genius
Donnie:
You're from the perfect paradise
And I'm living on the darker side
Y/N:
Ooh, I've got a feeling
If you get to know me
Donnie:
Right from the start you caught my eye
And something inside me came to life
Y/N:
Ooh, I've got a feeling
If you get to know me
Both:
Someday
This could be, this could be ordinary
Someday
Could we be something extraordinary?
Donnie:
You and me side by side
Both:
Out in the broad daylight
If they laugh, we'll say
We're gonna be someday
We're gonna be someday
We're gonna be someday
We're gonna be someday
Donnie:
Girl, you're pizzalicious
Oh, I mean gorgeous
Y/N:
*chuckles*
Well, now you're getting fearless
Donnie:
No, I'm just rooting for us
Y/N:
If different was a superpower
Both:
We'd be so flawless
Yeah, we could make these two worlds ours
I'm rooting for us
Donnie:
Two lonely hearts meet in the dark
Imagine it now they start a spark
Y/N:
You got my attention
What happens next, then?
Donnie:
Movies and long walks in the park
Hanging out anywhere we want
Y/N:
I like the way you're thinking
I can almost see it
Both:
Someday
This could be, this could be ordinary
Someday
Could we be something extraordinary?
Donnie:
You and me side by side
Both:
Out in the broad daylight
If they laugh, we'll say
We're gonna be someday
Someday, someday
Y/N:
So let them talk if they wanna
Let them talk if they're gonna
We're gonna do what we wanna
Let them talk, let them talk
If they wanna, they wanna
Both:
Someday
This could be, this could be ordinary
Someday
Could we be something extraordinary?
Donnie:
You and me side by side
Both:
Out in the broad daylight
If they laugh, we'll say
We're gonna be someday
Y/N:
Someday, someday
Donnie:
We're gonna be someday
Y/N:
Someday, someday
Both:
We're gonna be someday
Donnie spins me out and back toward him as I instinctively place a hand against his chest to keep myself balanced. He traces the outline of my face as he tucks a strand of hair that came loose mid-twirl, locking eyes with mine before pressing his lips against mine. For a second, I freeze in place before kissing back, wrapping my arms around his neck as he wraps his around my waist and lifts me slightly off the ground. We stay like this, wrapped up in each other's embrace, lips locked against one another's, before pulling away.
Donnie & Y/N: *breathless* "Whoa."
Donnie: "That was..."
Y/N: "Ingenious."
Donnie: *chuckles* "Yeah."
Y/N: "So, can we expect to do this again?"
Donnie smiles as we exit the library and walk towards the school's front entrance.
Donnie: "Definitely."
Me: "Great."
Once we reach the doors, Donnie steps ahead of me and holds the door open.
Donnie: "After you, milady."
I giggle at his sweet yet chivalrous gesture, walking past him with a quick kiss on his cheek. Donnie's smile changes to a look of surprise, rubbing his cheek before rushing to catch up to me so we can exchange numbers and keep talking along the way. All in all, it's not a bad way to spend the end of a long day, especially in the company of such a gentlemanly genius.
Wondrous Ways
Rise!Donnie x trans!reader
{A/N: Pronouns for reader are 'they/their/them'}
Y/N awoke from their sleep with a jolt and tried to catch their breath after the dream they just had. Once they have, they try going back to sleep with no avail. So, they walk to the window, leaving it open in case one of the turtles drops by after their patrol, and climbed up the fire escape to the roof of their apartment building.
Ever since they could remember, they came up here for a view of the city and the cool breeze that always seemed to flow by at the perfect time. It helped them calm from nightmares, anxiety, or anything else they stressed over. Tonight, it was their insecurities swarming around in their subconscious, everything they ever disliked about themself voiced aloud in their head till they finally woke up. Occasionally, the turtles, or at least one in particular, made his way into said thoughts.
But Y/N always knew, or at least hoped, that part was just in their head and not what he actually thought about them. They also depended on their happy memories with the turtles, especially Donnie, whenever they needed to keep their nerves at bay. In fact, there was one memory in particular Y/N held dear to their heart.
{Flashback}
Not long after his visit to Hidden City's Witch Town, Leo and Donnie ended up in yet another skating competition. This one, in particular, involved one or two more crashes than usual, and Y/N was treating any scratches, cuts, etc. that Donnie had received afterwards.
Y/N: "I don't know why you let Leo get to you, D. You know Leo's all bark and no bite. What drove you to pick a fight this time?"
Donnie: "Nothing, just basic sibling rivalry. It was bound to occur sooner or later."
Me: "Uh-huh. So it has something to do with a previous fight?"
Donnie: "Not a previous one. Just one that was presumably inevitable. I'm the only one of my brothers with a non-mystic weapon. They can do all these cool, awesome, 'better' things, and all I have is a metal stick. If mystic powers can do everything I can't, what's the point of even having me on the team?"
Me:"Well, for starters, mystic powers don't have half the brains, heart, or talent for fighting that you do. And that 'metal stick' was the start of a technological minefield of possibilities for future weaponry. Also, your technology isn't what makes you important to us, it's the fact that you're always there for us when we need you. If you weren't on the team, the guys would be lost without a clue of how or what to do when the going gets tough."
Ok, so maybe this stuff was from the long list of traits for which Y/N had always admired Donnie.
Donnie: "Yeah, maybe you're right."
Me: "Maybe?"
Donnie: *chuckles* "Ok, you're definitely right. Thanks, Y/N/N."
Me: "Anytime. Just try not to call Leo out on whatever he says when he gets cocky. Deal?"
Donnie nods with a smile, the very same one that could power the city for centuries from the sheer sincerity of it alone. Plus, though he hides it well, maybe he and Y/N aren't so different after all. Maybe, just maybe, a relationship between the two could work out. But that's just wishful thinking, right?
{Present time}
So tonight, Y/N decided to use a combination of both coping mechanisms, with one other they used from time to time. As the breeze blew, they closed their eyes, took deep breaths, played the memories in their head, and let one of their favorite songs echo through the sky as they sang.
Y/N:
I've been watchin' you for some time
Can't stop starin' at those ocean eyes
Burning cities and napalm skies
Fifteen flares inside those ocean eyes
Your ocean eyes
No fair
You really know how to make me cry
When you gimme those ocean eyes
I'm scared
I've never fallen from quite this high
Fallin' into your ocean eyes
Those ocean eyes
I've been walkin' through a world gone blind
Can't stop thinkin' of your diamond mind
Careful creature made friends with time
He left her lonely with a diamond mind
And those ocean eyes
No fair
You really know how to make me cry
When you gimme those ocean eyes
I'm scared
I've never fallen from quite this high
Fallin' into your ocean eyes
Those ocean eyes
No fair
You really know how to make me cry
When you gimme those ocean eyes
I'm scared
I've never fallen from quite this high
Fallin' into your ocean eyes
Those ocean eyes
Y/N opened their eyes with a calm smile, their nerves now fully at rest, until a voice spoke up from behind.
Donnie: "Wow."
Y/N turned to see Donnie standing at the center of the rooftop, his eyes wide with surprise and admiration.
Donnie: "You sure you're not an angel in disguise or something?"
Y/N smiled with a soft chuckle, glad that he always had a way to make their nerves wash away. Donnie walks to sit next to Y/N with a kind smile, as always.
Me: "Yeah, pretty sure. So, you liked it?"
There's a brief pause before Donnie decides to answer honestly.
Donnie: "Nope."
Y/N dons a confused look, but widens their eyes when Donnie pulls them into a longing, passionate, loving kiss.
Donnie: "I loved it. And I love you, my Angel."
Y/N's look remained shocked before melting into a lovingly grateful smile.
Me: "I love you too, my Hero."
As they shared another loving kiss, Y/N knew one thing for sure in every part of their mind and heart. No matter how hard life gets, love always has wondrous ways of making things better.
Why Not?

Y/N/N = Your Nickname
Donnie, Leo and Y/N have been thick as thieves since they were little. They've always done everything together. Birthdays, lab experiments, movie nights, sleepovers, skateboarding, you name it. In that time, Leo's noticed little things about the relationship between Y/N and Donnie, and so has everyone else. They've also noticed that their friend has quite the gift for singing and songwriting. So today, April and Mikey are gonna help bring this duo closer together than ever before.
Y/N:"I don't know about this."
Y/N and April are standing behind separate microphones in a recording studio while Mikey sits on the other side of the two-way glass mirror. April had an idea to put Y/N's newly written song to music with a sort of remix-like rhythm.
April:"Oh, come on, Y/N/N! It's fun! What's the worst that could happen?"
Me: "Oh, I don't know, technical difficulties, mic trouble, someone in particular could recognize me by my voice."
April: "Hence the use of a unique username and instead of an actual video, it'll be your voice with colorful backgrounds drawn by Mikey. Speaking of which, 'Dr. Feelings' asked me to give you this before we start."
April hands Y/N a small card with writing on both sides.
Front of Card:
Dear Favorite Patient (Don't tell the others),
I understand you might be feeling some mild anxiety about publicly announcing your secretive feelings for my 2nd eldest (and second favorite) brother. But trust me when I say this is all for the best. So, instead of asking 'Why?', you need to be asking...
(See back of card for answer)
Y/N flips the card over and smiles at the question she 'should' be asking. She takes a deep breath and nods to April to confirm that she's ready. April winks towards the two-way mirror, earning a slightly confused look from Y/N, before the music starts.
Y/N (April):
You like New York city in the daytime
I like New York city in the nighttime
You say you like sleeping with the air off
I don't, I need it on
You like the light coming through the windows
I sleep late, so I just keep 'em all closed
You ignore the music on the radio
I don't, I singalong
I don't ask for you to change, baby no no no
And you don't ask for me to change
Tell me how we're not alike
But we work so well and we don't even know why
Funny how the stars crossed right
'Cause we work so well and we don't even know why
You can call it fire and ice
But we work so well and we don't even know why
We don't even know why, no no
We don't even know why, no no no
We like it in the daytime
We like it in the end of time
We like it in the daytime
We like it in the end of time
Cold outside and you're just in a t-shirt
I have cold blood even in a sweater
You start your night typing' on the keyboard
I don't, I know you know
I don't ask for you to change, baby no no no
And you don't ask for me to change
Tell me how we're not alike
But we work so well and we don't even know why
Funny how the stars crossed right
'Cause we work so well and we don't even know why
You can call it fire and ice
But we work so well and we don't even know why
We don't even know why, no no (no no no)
We don't even know why, no no no
No no no no
We like it in the daytime (we don't even know)
We like it in the end of time (we don't even know)
No no no no
We like it in the daytime
(We don't even know, know, know, know, know, know, know, know, know)
Somehow we end up on the same side
And you wouldn't think that we'd be alright
Even our eyes are different colors, but we see fine
Somehow we end up on the same side
And you wouldn't think that we'd be alright
April:
Think that we'd be alright
Y/N (April):
Even our eyes are different colors, but we see fine
Tell me how we're not alike
But we work so well and we don't even know why ('cause we work so well and we don't even know why, why)
Funny how the stars crossed right 'cause we work so well and we don't even know why
You can call it fire and ice
But we work so well and we don't even know why ('cause we work so well and we don't even know why, why)
We don't even know why, no no
We don't even know why, no no no
No no no no
We like it in the daytime
We like it in the end of time (we don't even know why)
No no no no
We like it in the daytime
We like it in the nighttime
April motions with her hand for 'Mikey' to cut the feed before walking through the door to stand on the other side of the mirror. After about a minute passes by, Donnie walks into the room with a smile.
Y/N: "Donnie! What are you...?"
Before Y/N can finish, Donnie pulls her into a lasting, longing, loving, passionate kiss. Thinking of nothing else to say, Y/N smirks and leans her forehead against his own.
Y/N:"Took you long enough."
They share a chuckle before sharing yet another loving kiss. Meanwhile, on the other side of the glass, April calls Mikey on her phone.
Mikey:"So?"
April: "Mission accomplished, doc."
Mikey cheers loudly over the phone, so April pulls the phone away from her ear until he's done.
April: "I know, Mike. I'm excited, too. Hey. I didn't look 'cause I thought it was for Y/N's eyes only. But what was on the back of that card?"
From the other side of the phone line, Mikey dons a confident grin as he replies to April's question with what's written on the back of the card word for word.
Mikey & Back of Card: "Why not?"

This was it. The night the turtles & April would get the chance to meet their favorite singer, Y/S/N AKA Y/F/N. Somehow, Donnie had managed to get the five of them backstage passes, as well as front row seats to her latest concert. No matter how much the others persisted, the tech genius refused to give up how he had gotten the tickets, or how it was so easy for him to do so. Regardless, they couldn't be more grateful to him for a kind gesture such as this. Little did they know, they were not only in for the time of their lives, but for the surprise of their lives as well.
Leo: "Donnie, this is incredible!"
Raph: "Yeah, thanks for getting us these VIP passes & tickets. Grateful as we are, you're still not gonna tell us how you got such great seats?"
Donnie: "Worry not, dear Raphael. By the end of the night, questions will be both answered and revealed, & fun will be had by all."
April: "Come on, D. One scientist to another, this is all legal and not at all incriminating for any parties involved right?"
This question raised some worrisome suspicion for the other three turtles. Donnie could be quite secretive, but that sometimes meant that there were some strings attached to his methods. While Donnie understood their concerns, he couldn't help but laugh at such a theory.
Donnie: "I say again, fear not. Everything that has & will occur within the last 48 hours was completely legal, non-incriminating, and somewhat intentional for any and all 'parties' involved."
That last part was a bit confusing for the others, but before any other questions could be asked or answered, the lights went out before a bright spotlight shone on the person these five would soon get the chance to meet.
Y/N: "Good evening, fellow New Yorkers. Everybody good, we having fun tonight?"
The whole crowd, turtles & April included, cheered in response, their excitement increasing with every passing minute.
Y/N: "Alright, well then, let's get this show on the road. Tonight, me and my back-up singers would like to open with a song that's very near and dear to me personally. It's dedicated to a very special person who's been the light of my life this past month. If he's out there somewhere listening, wish me luck babe. You're my lucky star, and this one's for you."
As the music began, the fangirls in the audience aww'ed at such a sweet gesture, Meanwhile, unbeknownst to anyone, Donnie gave her a warm, loving smile, his heart warmed at the idea of some lucky guy getting such special attention from such an incredible person.
Y/N:
Do you ever feel like a plastic bag
Drifting through the wind, wanting to start again?
Do you ever feel, feel so paper thin
Like a house of cards, one blow from cavin' in?
Do you ever feel already buried deep?
Six feet under screams, but no one seems to hear a thing
Do you know that there's still a chance for you?
'Cause there's a spark in you
You just gotta ignite the light
And let it shine
Just own the night
Like the Fourth of July
'Cause baby, you're a firework
Come on, show 'em what you're worth
Make 'em go, "Oh, oh, oh"
As you shoot across the sky
Baby, you're a firework
Come on, let your colors burst
Make 'em go, "Oh, oh, oh"
You're gonna leave 'em all in awe, awe, awe
You don't have to feel like a waste of space
You're original, cannot be replaced
If you only knew what the future holds
After a hurricane comes a rainbow
Maybe a reason why all the doors are closed
So you could open one that leads you to the perfect road
Like a lightning bolt, your heart will glow
And when it's time, you'll know
You just gotta ignite the light
And let it shine
Just own the night
Like the Fourth of July
'Cause baby, you're a firework
Come on, show 'em what you're worth
Make 'em go, "Oh, oh, oh"
As you shoot across the sky
Baby, you're a firework
Come on, let your colors burst
Make 'em go, "Oh, oh, oh"
You're gonna leave 'em all in awe, awe, awe
Boom, boom, boom
Even brighter than the moon, moon, moon
It's always been inside of you, you, you
And now it's time to let it through
'Cause baby, you're a firework
Come on, show 'em what you're worth
Make 'em go, "Oh, oh, oh"
As you shoot across the sky
Baby, you're a firework
Come on, let your colors burst
Make 'em go, "Oh, oh, oh"
You're gonna leave 'em all in awe, awe, awe
Y/N (Back-up Singers):
(Boom, boom, boom)
(Even brighter than the moon, moon, moon)
Oh boom, boom, boom
Even brighter than the moon, moon, moon
As the song ended, the entire stadium erupted in loud cheers, applause, and praise at the sheer perfection of the singer's vocals. It was clear from the tone & emphasis in her voice that, whoever the song was meant for, he was very important to her. Throughout the night, Y/N sang her heart out, earning her more praise with every song. Once the performance was over, she gave her fans her signature pose, and gave the audience a wink as her fingers made a peace sign.
Y/N: "Thank you New York City, goodnight!"
Once the rest of the building cleared out, the gang headed backstage. Donnie was bearing a wide smirk as he prepared to give his family the biggest 'shock & awe' moment of their lives. Once they showed their passes to the security guard, he kindly guided them to the door with a star & Y/N's stage name on it.
Security Guard: "You're on your own from here, guys. Good luck, have fun, and try not to pass out from the excitement!"
As April knocked on the door, Donnie turned to face the security guard with a grateful nod. They knew each other from previous experiences, all of them positive. As Y/N responded to the knock, Donnie turned back towards the door as the five of them took a deep breath to calm their nerves & ease their excitement.
Y/N: "Come on in, guys!"
Leo then stepped up to open the door to find Y/N sitting in a chair in front of a well-lit vanity mirror. She then turned to greet her fans and gave them a polite grin. She lived for moments like these. The smiles on her all fans' faces always reassured her that what she does for a living brought nothing but good things into the world. Well, that and thelucky spark of a chance encounter she'd had no longer than a month and a half ago with the man who was now her S.O.
Y/N: "Hi guys, it's so nice to meet all of you. If you have any questions at all, I'd be more than happy to..."
Before she could finish, Donnie rushed up to her and pulled her into a longing kiss full of love, gratitude, joy, & relief that he could hold her close after waiting all night for this moment. As Y/N happily returned the sentiment and kissed him back, the others stood frozen. Their jaws had practically dropped to the floor in pure shock, their eyes wide as they realized. He got star quality tickets, because he was dating the star! Him, Donatello Hamato, their brother and friend, had evidently been dating the Y/S/N for the past month. Once they had parted, they sent each other loving smiles before turning towards their audience with a simple shrug of their shoulders while bearing sly smirks, each one identical to the other.
Y/N & Donnie: "You didn't see that coming?"
FAB, Flowers, & Feelings
{A/N: In reality Ruth B. wrote this song, but in this universe, the song hadn't previously existed; Photo above is from the episode "Stuck On You", just to give you an idea of what Y/N and Donnie look like when encased in the FAB spray; Donnie in his position and Y/N in Raph's, minus Mikey & Leo}
Key: FAB = Foam Agent Bonding Y/N/N = Your Nickname
Y/N: "Donnie, you are one of my best friends. I love you, I've got your back, I'll always be there for you, and all that sentimental candy floss. But, uh, WHY WOULD YOU LEAVE A CAN OF FAB SPRAY LYING AROUND AGAIN? In my room of all places? Why not locked away somewhere in your lab, and the only way to open it is via voice identification?"
Today was like any other day for Y/N and Donnie. Well, at the very least, it was like any other day. Until, mere moments ago, when Y/N had knocked over a can of FAB spray she didn't know was there with her elbow as she turned in the seat at her desk to face Donnie as he crawled through her bedroom window for a surprise visit. Once the can's actuator hit the ground, the actuator got stuck and sprayed the two into an encasing of the material.
Now they just had to wait until one of two things happened. One, the encasing breaks apart over time. Or two, they figure out a way to safely create a crack that would spread across their entrapment and break away in a matter of seconds. It had been 5 minutes, and so far neither of those things had happened. Donnie felt guilty, which he was in one way or another, but something in Y/N's tone showed restraint. This usually meant she was less 'angry' and more 'trying to understand the cause of the situation'. In spite of this, he sighed and carefully explained his side of the story, so as not to anger his not-so-secret crush any further. Funnily enough, his crush had a not-so-secret crush on him. Why it was no longer considered a secret is because everyone knew about it except the focus of said crush.
Donnie: "I thought it would be a safe place to keep it from my brothers, specifically Leo, because I'm the only one of us who comes in through your window. The others always use the door dressed in a giant trench coat and fedora. Although, in hindsight, the shelf in your closet might've been a better place other than out in the open on your desk beside the purple roses I got you for your birthday last month. Which can only mean one thing, I've spent too much time inhaling too many chemicals from my experiments, and it's caused me to become as smart as the Purple Dragons. Or worse, as smart as-*gulp*-Leo. "
As Donnie shuddered at the thought, Y/N couldn't help but break her icy exterior as she let a laugh slip with a smile.
Y/N: "Well, it's a common mistake. Even an incredibly tenacious, smart, brave, caring person like you can have the occasional slip of the mind. If anything, it just means you're as human as anyone else, no matter what species you are, there's a little 'human' in all of us."
Once Donnie heard this, he let out a sigh of relief with a smile that Y/N wished she could see. She loved the way she could make him smile with the simplest of sentences. She'd trade everything else in the world to catch even a glance of that smile. It was part of the reason she had been working on what she had before Donnie had showed up.
At that moment, Y/N's laptop made a sound that made Donnie jerk his head toward the source of whatever had made him lose his train of thought. He carefully rolled over to Y/N's desk to see that a notification on the screen that read 'Do you want to save this email draft?'. Donnie checked to see who the email was meant for, only to see Mikey's email address: drfeelings@yeah,thatone.com. He then looked to see what they had been emailing each other. All that was in the email space was the link to a video titled 'Floral Flirtations'.
Donnie: "Y/N/N, what is this?"
Y/N froze with a look of shock, her mind racing to come up with a good excuse for him to simply ignore the email and turn her to the computer so she could send it.
Y/N: "Uh, don't worry about it. It's just something I recorded for fun to pass the time. Just let me send it, and we can get back to figuring out how to get out of this thing."
As if the universe had heard her, you could say karma was the cause of the sudden breaking of the Fab Spray. Once they were both fully free, Donnie practically raced to sit in Y/N's desk chair, click on the link and press play on the video. At this point, knowing Donnie, all she could do was sit there and wait for his reaction to her confession of her feelings for him.
Y/N: "Hey Mikey, so as you and 'Dr. Feelings' suggested, I've written up a song to get these things of my chest. You're welcome to hear it under one condition. Donnie can't find this. If he found this video, and discovered my true feelings for him, he'd never let me hear the end of it.-*chuckles*-He's got more in common with Leo than he'd care to realize. So, here goes nothing..."
Y/N:
Maybe it's the way you say my name
Maybe it's the way you play your game
But it's so good, I've never known anybody like you
But it's so good, I've never dreamed of nobody like you
And I've heard of a love that comes once in a lifetime
And I'm pretty sure that you are that love of mine
'Cause I'm in a field of dandelions
Wishing on every one that you'll be mine, mine
And I see forever in your eyes
I feel okay when I see you smile, smile
Wishing on dandelions all of the time
Praying to the gods that one day you'll be mine
Wishing on dandelions all of the time, all of the time
I know that you are the one for me
'Cause it gets so hard to breathe
When you're looking at me
I've never felt so alive and free
When you're looking at me
I've never felt so happy
And I've heard of a love that comes once in a lifetime
And I'm pretty sure that you are that love of mine
'Cause I'm in a field of dandelions
Wishing on every one that you'll be mine, mine
And I see forever in your eyes
I feel okay when I see you smile, smile
Wishing on dandelions all of the time
Praying to the gods that one day you'll be mine
Wishing on dandelions all of the time, all of the time
Dandelion, into the wind you go
Won't you let my darling know?
Dandelion, into the wind you go
Won't you let my darling know that?
I'm in a field of dandelions
Wishing on every one that you'll be mine, mine
And I see forever in your eyes
I feel okay when I see you smile, smile
Wishing on dandelions all of the time
Praying to God that one day you'll be mine
Wishing on dandelions all of the time, all of the time
I'm in a field of dandelions
Wishing on every one that you'll be mine, mine
Donnie sat there, eyes wide, silent as a ghost, as he tried to comprehend what he had just seen. Meanwhile, Y/N was stood behind him, racked with nerves, patiently waiting for his rebuttal of her feelings. Then, he slowly rose from the chair, and turned to her with a lovesick smile, as wide as the ocean, his mind finally at peace knowing that his feelings were so greatly reciprocated. Y/N's look changed from nervousness to confusion.
Y/N: "Don, you al--"
Before she could finish her statement, Donnie quickly pulled her into a lasting kiss filled with love, passion, romance, longing, gratefulness, and the peace of mind both of them had craved from one another so much, for so long. As they pulled apart, he rested his forehead on hers, and uttered the four words he had wanted to say from the moment healed eyes on her.
Donnie: "I love you too, Y/N. I always have, always will, and if you'll be my girl, I'll be your guy. Till the end of the line."
Y/N couldn't help but smile, tears of joy filling her eyes as she nodded her response, and pulled him into another passion-filled kiss.
From then on, they remained the same lovesick lovebirds they had been from day one of their newfound relationship. As for the email, it never got sent. So, all in all, you could infer that...
FAB, Flowers, and Feelings are the perfect recipe for the start of a relationship.'
