Exclusive UK TMNT Launch at Hamleys Toy Store, London.
Today, Saturday 24th November, devoted Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle fans turned up at Hamleys toyshop on London’s Regent Street for the exclusive early launch of the new toy range. For one day only early birds had the chance of snapping-up a limited edition Night Shadow Leonardo figure.
WELCOME TO “BOOT THE FOOT”!
Howdy, folks — welcome to day one of “Boot the Foot”, a fun little project conceived by Kory “Skummie” Schuerman and Jared “BeastPop” Moraitis. Too huge for just one person to handle, we have combined to form “SkumBeast”, so we can bring you this onslaught of tremendous artwork from some stunningly talented folks!
We will be presenting a new design from a different artist (except today, when we double up) every weekday until we run out, and we have a LOT of amazing artists involved! We encourage you to reblog and share each post with others, of course, but we also encourage you to check out the various artists through the links we provide. Follow them on Facebook, Tumblr, DeviantArt, Twitter, wherever they may share their art — and if you like what you see, buy something from them, too, if they happen to sell things.
Okay, first up is the mastermind behind this whole crazy thing, SKUMMIE who gives us the evil turtle known as SLASH in that distinctive Skummie-style!
BeastPop: How would you describe your art style and what influences have helped shape that style?
Skummie: I would describe my style as Low brow heavy metal monster art. Lighting and grunge being the glue holding it together. My influences artists like Ed Roth, Jim Phillips, Rob Zombie, and early 90’s comic art of Todd Mcfarlane and Jim Lee.
BeastPop: Share a bit about your history with TMNT and tell a bit about why you chose this character and decided to interpret it this way.
Skummie: TMNT was a huge part of my youth. I was even in a club where we would draw ninja turtles and come up with our own characters. Ok so the club consisted of 4 kids, but still haha. Slash was always my favorite character as far as the way he looked. He was kinda a dope on the show. I remember he gets all his gear from a junk yard so I tried to give him a sorta Mad Max “found armor” look. Even gave him a knee brace!

Okay, so let me preface this by saying im not a TMNT fan. Well I guess I mean i’m not a fanboy. I never grew up on this property as a child, so I have no particular love for it. Honestly, I find the premise a little over the top; teenage mutants I can do (clearly), but the turtle aspect is just completely odd to me.
Anyway, because I’m currently working on the new animated tv show on nickelodeon, i’ve grown to have a very particular view of these characters. How i’d like to treat them. Clearly something like this nickelodeon would never go for, so I would never have a venue to realize my rendition with my work on the show, but I decided to just figure them out on my own and draw them anway.
I guess the first thing I wanted to accomplish, is because I find the turtles being ninja aspect so over the top I wanted to make my versions super serious to help counteract it. My version would have little to none of the staples that most fans love about the property. Again, I really don’t see the appeal all the other turtles fans do, so im just going completely left field on this.
I also wanted to make them more of a cross section look at Asian fighting in general, rather than just ninjas. Clearly I tried to get Leo to be more of a Samurai character; very serious, very methodical, not very fast, but incredibly precise. I also toyed with the idea that he only speaks in japanese, which I might stick with. The only character I’m going to keep as a ninja is mikey. My donnie is going to be a Sumo type mixed with a tech genius.
I’ll post these when I can as I work on them as a break from my regular Turtles Job haha.

TMNT coming to UK's ITV1 & CITV - Spring 2013!
Big news for those without Satellite or Cable in the UK. Viacom announced that ITV has secured season one and season two broadcast rights for Nickelodeon’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, for simulcast on ITV1 and CITV, starting in Spring 2013.
Both sides are pleased with the deal, the new cartoon generating an enormous buzz, more so than any Nickelodeon show before.

What the Shell Reviews - Episode 1
Welcome to the very first What the Shell Reviews which will focus on the new 2012 TMNT animation which aired a few days ago in the United States and only today in the UK!
The four hosts sit round with a extra large pizza and discuss the debut of the 1 hour long TMNT which is brought to us by Nickelodeon and we get a lot of thoughts on the four turtles, april, splinter and much more.
The guys rate the episodes in the style of pizzas - burnt which means it was awful, small - an ok episode, medium - an enjoyable episode or large - a totally tubular episode which the guys loved.
They round out the show with the reviews from the internet. Was it a well received debut or did people hate going to the cgi?

TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES ERUPT FROM THE SEWERS ON TO LONDON’S SOUTHBANK
If you're near Southbank, London today, be prepared to check out this spectacular piece of art! To launch the all-new series of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, artists have created the incredible illusion of Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael and Michelangelo climbing out of the sewer on to the pavement. Fans of the franchise posed with the artwork, helping Leonardo escape on to the iconic London backdrop. The fantastic 3D effect is created through to the power of ‘anamorphic art’ – 2D images that look 3D when painted on a surface.
The UK premiere is a one hour special television event on Monday 1st October at 5pm only on Nickelodeon!

Welcome back shellheads!
Last month you would have heard our interview with Cowabunga Corner's own Michele Ivey, well she is back to join Dylan, Chris, Mike and Suine and this time they are doing their first of hopefully many commentaries.
The guys and gal sit down and commentate on the first TMNT live action film from the early 90's. Do you have a VHS, Laserdisc, DVD, Blu-ray or other means for watching this film? then put it on and hit play when instructed.
