Inspiration no97: this striking image by @dashti.gohar, an Iranian photographer, has been following me for quite some time since seeing it in Rome - I could not forget it despite the daily Instaflood of pictures. Inspiration no95: I am obsessed with the work of a wonderful Adrian Piper, a multi-faceted artist, who seems to crack everything she wishes: performance art, installations, literature, sculpture, photography. I’m in awe of her finding the ways to be razor sharp in every medium. It is hard to pick out favorites, but start not far from today and read about The Probable Trust Registry participatory installation, where the visitors were proposed to sign lifetime contracts on either of these three statements: 1 I will always be too expensive to buy. 2 I will always mean what I say. 3 I will always do what I say I am going to do. They were promised to be able to see the names of those who’ve signed the contract as well, creating a sudden sect of a kind which cannot break their pact. Ever. Check Adrian Piper, she is a legend. Inspiration no92: Immediately, you are paralyzed by the look of Ferris' graphic novel: detailed, nuanced, rich in textures and what is most impressive, all done with a trivial Bic ballpoint pen. This alone is enough to turn Monsters into a worthwile flip. But then, when you are still paralyzed and impressed by the looks of this weighty diary of a 10 year old nosy girl detective, the author overwhelms you with twisted story, containing sibling love, nazi hate, murder mystery thread, political turmoil, traumas of a childhood, imagination, art, many other things and, yes, monsters. This one goes out to those who feel graphic novels are inferior books. Just see it. Inspiraton no91: this was my first time at @artvilnius art fair. Loved it. Was surprised how humour is unpopular with this year’s fair. The guy who saved it all was Estonia’s own @markomaetamm with hid project “Sit back, relax, and enjoy the rest of your life”. Inspiration no90: as I continued browsing @worldpressphoto exhibit in Rome, another masterpiece from parallel universe hit me: @adamfergusonphoto shoots portraits of girls, kidnapped by Boko Haram militants in Nigeria and forced to become suicide bombers. 2000 girls were kidnapped in last five years. This one, luckily, managed to escape. Most - don’t. #masterpiece #nigeria #worldpressphoto

Inspiration no89: continuing with @worldpressphoto exhibition in Rome I’ve stumbled upon the photograph that’s locked my spine. This is Suzanne, she is 11 and the look on her face says it all — she ’s just underwent a horrible breast ironing procedure which seems to be impossible to vindicate, yet it’s seen as a sign of a caring mother in Cameroon. Breast ironing practices are meant to delay maturity in girls and help prevent rapes or sexual advances. Techniques differ from region to region: some people bind the breasts with a belt, others heat a grinding stone, spatula or pestle and use it to press or massage the breasts. If not for the deeply piercing pictures, taken by @heba__khamis, I would never know such practices existed in this world past 12th century. #worldpressphoto #bannedbeauty #cameroon
