Mermay Day 31 - Serenity (Saiyuki)

And yet another Saiyuki drawing. This time with Sharak Sanzo, with the Buddha serenity pose.

When I made this challenge about favourite character, I knew that I would put Sharak somewhere. She's an incredible woman, she obtained the Sanzo title, which is extremely difficult, then she became responsible of a large area constituted by different villages. She and her army protect every innocent people of her territory, no matter if they're human or yokai. She's tough, straight to the point, kind and super efficient. In one word : badass.

And this puts an end to the mermay challenge. Thank you for everyone who liked it. I hope it did make you smile.

Mermay Day 30 Exosqueletton (Megaman X)

Here we are again with Douglas. I drew him on Day 2 if I'm not mistaken.

This time he's doing some underwater exploration and felt the need of getting more equipped than necessary. I can't blame him, the abyss stay a mistery, you never know what danger can suddenly appear.

I don't think the theme was fully nailed this time... but at least it was close to it.😋

Mermay Day 29 - Wicked (Spirou and Fantasio)

Ah yes! Some Zorglub, finally ! I'm so glad I could have him join to the list of my favs. His next plan seems to take place mainly underwater this time. I added him a great white shark tail just for the heck of it.

Mermay Day 28 - Gemini (Saiyuki)

Hey, it's Hakkai from the Day one of this challenge. How ya doin'? Still someone behind your back? Looks like it's your twin sister Kanan.

Spoiler - One of my fav headcanons about these two is that they both could be the reincarnation of the same person. It is obviously stated that Tenpou reincarnated into Hakkai, but it could also make sense if the god's spirit splited in two, joining respectively Kanan and Gonou. It was just dormant, until the horrifying tragic event that led Kanan and Gonou to face the same fate than the marshall : having their guts open (different causes but same result). Gonou survived, his sister didn't. When Kanan died, her half spirit of Tenpou joined to the only living one. Gonou became the full reincarnation of the god. Though, he couldn't live anymore without his beloved twin, neither could he with his sins. Therefore Gonou disappeared to let Hakkai become the one who continues the story.

Mermay Day 27 - Oasis (Gaston Lagaffe)

'so glad I could put Prunelle somewhere in this challenge. A merman in an oasis, that's perfect for Prunelle, just give the poor guy a break from Gaston's shenanigans. 😁

I do have in my main blog a tag called "make Prunelle happy", and oh do I want him to taste happiness sometimes. He sure deserves it.❤️

Mermay Day 26 - Memory (Kekkai Sensen)

I swear I'm really trying not to be late to post but with my work and other duties, there is but little time to draw lol. Anyway, on to the picture.

The 3rd Kekkai Sensen pic already, this time featuring my favourite female character, Michella Watch. She lost the use of her legs, and years later her vision. Yet her temper seems to stay the same, a good mood, a sense of humour, even self derision (without self-loathing). She's one of he strongest characters in the manga in some way.

The theme is Memory, so I drew her as a kid with her tortoise knight of a brother.

Mermay Day 25 - Tsunami (Argaï - the Prophecy)

I don't have that many villains among my faves, but oooh do I like Oriale from the early 2000s cartoon Argaï the Prophecy. Moreover I hated the fact that all female characters were shown more human-like faces than their male counterparts. It's a sort of hidden code I often saw in anthropomorphic cartoons and comics, when a female character is depicted as young and pretty.

So seeing Oriale with features close to the animal she represents made me so glad she became an instant fav.

Mermay Day 24 - Watercolor (Hunter x Hunter)

I know the meaning of the theme was to draw using watercolor, but I wanted to keep sketching, so instead, Kurapika is the one attempting watercolor.

When asked about my favourite shônen manga, I always reply HxH. It not only got everything needed (adventure, initiatory journey, fights, techniques codes, humor...) but it also create consistent characters. And I love how the author respects women, showing us various designs and sparing us fan services for the most part. I discovered the manga at 18yo and it became an instant fav of mine. It gets darker in the later seasons but that had to be expected, and it's still enjoyable anyway.

As for Kurapika, i loved his attitude and his calm composure. And of course, a neat-looking guy that can actually become extremely dangerous if you talk to him the wrong way... That's a trend to me at this point.

Mermay Day 23 -Stitch (Left4Dead2)

As many participants drew the characters from Lilo&Stitch, I preferred using the actual verb with my fav characters from Left4Dead2. Not so long ago, I drew Bill from Left4Dead1. Now it's time for the sequel.

My dear Rochelle, she quickly became my fav once I got to play as her. At that time, she wasn't liked that much, even hated by many of the community, because of the lack of line of dialog she had compared with the other characters (which gave the impression she had no personality). It turned out she had as many quotes as the others, but we never got to hear all of them until a big update few years ago. Though I never got that much affected by it, because since I played the French version, the amount of quote were practically the same for everyone. 😁

Ro is a level-headed survivor with a sassy humor. She tends to play the peace maker and to do her best for the others to work as a team. Though it is true she doesn't add that much to the game lore compared with the other 7 survivors, she is still funny reliable.

There is an interesting video about the creation of her character. I like watching it and going through the comments to spot other Rochelle likers. 😁

Mermay Day 22 - Psychedelic (Lupin III)

oh no! Dangit Lupin ! What did you do to him, this time?!

The pic was actually finished yesterday night, but when adding the psychedelic effect, I felt so tired I decided to sleep and continue tomorrow... It became a habit of me... 😭

Fav character for this theme : Zenigata ! One of my fav characters ever, easily in my top three. There weren't that many antagonists you could rely that much on, he's a badass comic relief, he can be as silly as sergent Garcia, yet when shit gets serious, he can switch to someone so kickass even Lupin and his gang get humbled (it doesn't happen often though XP). And he's such a kind old man for the most part.

when will I add some scales on those tails?.... 😭 Oh well...

Zed again, since he canonically live his first years in an aquarium, in a lab. Poor fish grew up so lonely, and it shows...

Mermay Day 20 - Clown (Detective Conan)

Ngl when I began to chose characters for this challenge I quickly thought about Jevil for the Clown theme. But then I decided to draw him earlier to get rid of the Cubism theme a week ago. Of course I could have drawn him twice (I wouldn't be the first time after all).

Though I recently remembered my favourite character from Detective Conan. I mostly like the role Ai Haibara has in this series. 😊

Mermay Day 19 - Bioluminescent (Sonic)

It's crazy what you can find in the most unexpected places.

As far as I remember, Knuckles is my very first fictional crush. The first character that ever made me blush whenever I spotted him on TV when I was in child. And even later when I started watching Sonic X as an adult, every Knux appeareance made me smile stupidly. I suppose the mistery behind his introduction to the games was effective on me.

Day 18 -Abracadabra (Aladdin series)

Too bad, I thought the pic could end up better than that. Yup, Mozenrath from Aladdin the animated series. I haven't been that much into this cartoon. I rediscovered it years ago through Youtube and quickly became fond of the sarcastic sadistic antagonist. I loved his attitude as well as his design. Thais char had so much potential.

That Hare again ?? Well in his defense, his attitude fits with so many theme. 🤣

I won't lie though, drawing him makes me happy, I like drawing his shape and expressions.

Day 16 - BeachGoth (One Piece)

As crazy as it seemed, I had practically finished this drawing yesterday but decided on the last minute that her eyes should be open and not close. And like felt so tired that I preferred postponing it. 😅

I stopped watching one piece loooong time ago, and I'm too afraid to catch up on it, i'm so late about it. Luckily i have three family members who didn't miss a chapter.💪

My favourite character used to be Zorro, but that was before that level-headed yet badass lady arrived. 😁

Ot sure if the BeachGoth theme was nailed, I didn't know about that fashion.

Day 15 - Peach (Super Mario Bros.)

Is that her favourite fruit?

I haven't drawn Daisy in such a long tiiiime... I kinda miss interacting with her when I used to roleplay Flame Man on deviantart... well actually I can still do it again. 😌

Daisy is my definite fav in the Super Mario fandom. So fresh, so lively ! And one of the best videogame voices I've heard, even if it became a meme at some point. 😁
