sunscreen got me goopy and gloppy and sad sad sad. but skin cancer probably worse so whatever. goopy it is.
A bunch of photos I took at the Oakland Zoo yesterday. I had a really good time there, I haven't been to a zoo since I was a kid so it was great! Unfortunately we arrived too late to go to the upper zoo section, so we missed out on a few animals, but I'll get there next time.
The news today of our president taking unilateral action to kidnap the leader of Venezuela and take control of their government sent me on a bit of a spiral this morning that gave me a panic attack, something I haven't experienced in a long time.
Since then I had lunch, went outside, talked to my family a little bit, and pet my dogs, all in an attempt to come back to normalcy that was thankfully effective.
I'm not sure exactly what I want to say with all of that, I guess just that this administration has been reprehensible, evil, and chaotic to the point that hopelessness for the future is an ever present weight in many people's minds, and that this weight has never felt heavier (to me personally, but I imagine many others as well) than it does right now.
Despite that, I still have to maintain hope that some day we will be past this, and that future people in power have the decency not to behave as the politicians of the past and present do. I hope I'm around to see that happen.
Please donate to those who need it, whether that donation is money or time. Volunteer if you can. Vote on everything all the time, especially local things. Even in a sea of suffering caused by our government, helping anyone in need is a good and meaningful thing. And please take care of yourselves, we all need help from time to time.
Some more art from the last several months. Not everything here turned out exactly as I wanted, but I am proud of each of them.
god gives me throat problems bc if he let me run wild id suck dick better than the best. it would be unfair to the other competitors.
Various pictures from two excursions, one a few months ago, one a few days ago.
The first 3 are from the San Luis Reservoir. It was a hell of a drive there, one I really enjoyed, and it made me want to go further. I found a little area of sand while taking those photos that when I stepped in it my boot sunk down to the ankle. I had to hose off my shoes when I got home.
The second 4 are from a trip I took to Carson City. I took those at Lake Tahoe on the way there. Unfortunately I didn't get a great look at the lake itself due to just an insane lack of parking, but I managed a few good photos.
I’m just saying if Daniel Radcliffe, the literal protagonist of the Harry Potter franchise since the age of ten years old, was able to disavow JK Rowling and move on from the HP universe then actually what the fuck is anyone else’s excuse. There is no one else on the planet who can say their entire childhood was HP more than that guy and he still cared about trans people more than the average tumblr user who says “we’re protesting by making all her characters queer and trans!!” like you can do better. You should do better.
There's just so much better fantasy out there. Like a ridiculous amount, just find something else, anything else, it really isn't hard.
every day its another dumb ad for a new discord thing whenever i open the cursed application. i just wanna type and talk with my friends man i dont want orbs or nitro
never liked the term neurospicy, rubs me the wrong way. feels like the sort of word id find printed on a t-shirt at target. too corporate, clean. fits too well in a work text. if i had less nuance id say it makes me want to kill someone but ultimately we're all in the same boat holes and all so whatever, im just tired of reading it.
nothing makes me feel more like a horse than eating an apple. monching down on that thang i picture myself transforming, animorphing into the hoofed creature. and it feels right
We literally cannot let them start charging 80 dollars for video games 70 dollars was already outrageous 60 was pushing it. 80 fucking dollars. ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR DAMN MIND. For MARIO?!?!?!?!?
Honestly $80 for a video game makes sense to me, the price has stayed stagnant for a long time and it's not like triple a games are cheaper to make now than they were 20 years ago. The crazy thing is that a $60 game 20 years ago was a complete experience with much fewer bugs and even fewer additional transactions. Nowadays it's very common for triple a studios to release a game first then fix it slowly with patches meaning first adopters (i.e. people who pay full price rather than wait for a sale) get a worse experience for more money. I'm down to pay $80 for a game so long as it is fully finished, play tested, and doesn't contain any micro transactions, which admittedly Nintendo is pretty good at accomplishing.
A few more finished ones I made a while ago. I start a lot of these but very few actually get finished, but I'm always deeply proud of the ones I complete.

Man the neil gaiman stuff is just so depressing. I wasn't super engaged with his work but the things I interacted with had an impact on me that'll be hard to contend with. I'm so sorry to the victims that article was horrible to read.

Getting into the "I should get really good at chess" time of my life. the pieces call to me like the green goblin mask begging me to en passant.
