“You deserve every iota of happiness you have right now and more,” she said firmly, pressing a quick kiss to his cheek. He had spent so many years taking care of everyone around him, seeing how happy and complete he seemed to be now was honestly a gift for her. She had to laugh along with him at his stunned realization, feeling a strange mix of joy and heartache at how quickly things were changing. “Actually, about that. Would you be willing to be godparent to one of my children? Then it really is the next round of Three Musketeers. And this gives us plenty of leverage to start browbeating Spencer into being able to keep up.”

Cade put his arms around Diana. “I love you Diana. It does me good to see you so happy as well.” The Dominant beamed at his friend. “I’d be honored to be a godparent Diana. Wow. Thank you.” He laughed. “Give him a break. He claimed a young thing who is just starting a successful career. I think I scared poor Sampson when I mentioned Drew and I were thinking of starting a family soon after being claimed.”

“Keeping the awareness of their home culture is so important,” Martina agreed with a sad tone to her voice. “Ensure he knows about the French holidays too, even if it is hard to celebrate them. I have let most of my German ones slip and I do regret it. You should look for a French club as well so he can chat in his native tongue. It gets so draining at first to constantly be thinking in another language and mentally have to translate everything.”

“Those are all wonderful ideas. Thank you my Lady,” Cade nodded. He could only imagine how difficult it would be for his son in the coming months, and the adjustments to be made. The Dominant only hoped he’d be quick to remember that when times were trying.

Diana immediately burst out into delighted laughter as he spun her around, clutching his shoulders tightly. “How was I supposed to interrupt your own amazing news?? It’s hardly my fault your own life is full of so much right now.” She couldn’t stop her own wide smile at his reaction and she could feel herself glowing. “I’m ridiculously over the moon. I find myself just staring at baby clothes and imagining a little baby in them when I’m supposed to bbe doing anything remotely productive. Vaughan was pretty shell shocked when it first happened, but now he’s just bursting his buttons all the time.”

Cade let out a happy sigh of contentment. “It is. My life is so full, and it’s running over,” he laughed softly, taking Diana’s hand in his. “And sometimes I feel so guilty for being so... happy.... and blessed and then other times,” the Dominant looked around as if someone might be listening, in his own home, “I just don’t care.” He nodded his head. “Andrew and I made a very conscious decision not to get too gung ho on baby items until at least the second trimester, just in case. Although we’ve spoiling Dominique since Christmas. And now things are moving so quickly with his adoption that I have a feeling we might end up scrambling to get things into place for the baby. But honestly, I understand... I spend a very large portion of the day thinking about my growing little family.” An idea came to Cade and he started laughing. “Oh my God, Di.... your twins and our baby, they’re going to be the next generation of the three musketeers!”

Martina’s lips spread into a wide grin, “Cade that is fabulous. It will be a huge adjustment but I have no doubt you and Andrew will rise to the challenge. How old did you say Dominique was? Do you need any help to get your apartment ready for his arrival?”

“I believe he’s turning 8 this fall?” Cade said trying to recall the if the young boy was 8 or turning 8. It had been such a whirlwind of events lately that sometimes it was hard to keep up with everything. “He’s a very sweet young boy though. Inquisitive, and determined, and I’m sure he’ll be quite adaptive to the change from France to Italy. Although now it means Andrew and I have reason to continue to return to Paris often, so Dominique doesn’t get too homesick for his city or his culture,” the Dominant laughed.

I will arrange for Nox to send someone to both locations and get their advice on additional security needed. Is there damage to Andrew’s office? Jim has a small team making emergency repairs at the moment until we have time to make proper ones. I think anyone connected with the family is unfortunately at increased risk at the moment. The Capulet name or the Webster one for that matter are unlikely to offer much protection if there is o much of a hint of association. Ensure that Andrew is not alone in his office at anytime and we can arrange for some security but I don’t have the resources available at the moment to give him someone full time. I’m afraid we are overstretched as it is.

There was some minor damage to Andrew’s office yes. I’ve patched things up as best as I can while waiting for materials and labor to be available to make the repairs. I doubt Andrew would take security full time, but yes, I’m trying to make sure he is not at the office alone, and is not out after dark alone. Wanting to have a family dinner at a reasonable hour with Dominique is a wonderful reason to have him home safely without him feeling like he’s being policed.

Martina’s nose scrunched at his words and she tipped her head, examining his face for some kind of explanation. “I’m afraid you have lost me somewhat. What school aged child? I didn’t think Andrew had any children.”

“Andrew doesn’t have any children... yet,” Cade admitted. “But we’re in the final stages of adopting a young boy we grew quite fond of at the orphanage in Paris. Even though the baby is due in the new year, we started to feel as if Dominique was part of our family as well. And when another family showed an interest in him, we realized we might lose him. Perhaps we’re crazy, but we’re incredibly happy with this turn of events.”

“Really? I clearly will need to go back through these pictures again with a fine tooth comb. But duly noted, I’ll have to start experimenting once he’s here.” She gave his hand a squeeze, sending a quick silent prayer up that it would all work perfectly for the two f them and they would have more good news to share before long. She had to hold back a laugh at the sudden almost stern turn of the conversation back to her. She almost didn’t want to share, not wanting to take any of the focus off of his own exciting news. But she had teased him with this enough already. “Well, it looks like your children will have a few cousins before long because I’m pregnant myself. With twins. Surprise!”

“It wasn’t exactly on purpose that he was in all our photos,” Cade laughed. “I’m sure he will appreciate it.” As soon as she dropped the bomb of her own, the Dominant whooped loudly and picked her up spinning her around his home. “DIANA this is fantastic news. Why didn’t you stop me?!” He pressed a kiss to each of her cheek. He put her down and held her out at arms glance, eyes drinking her in. “You look fabulous. How are you feeling? How excited are you? How excited is Vaughan?” He started laughing again. “Oh my God. I’m so excited. This couldn’t be anymore perfect Diana.”

Diana: I know. Even Vaughan and I have been...careful about how we've discussed a lot of this and I know he's furious about the way the riots played out

Diana: I don't want to be forced to pick a side Cade

Cade: It will be appreciated I'm sure. Just make sure you're not on your feet too much.

Cade: I understand. There are certain aspects of it that Andrew and I have been very careful about as well. As am I to be honest.

Cade: I refuse to. I will not be put back into that position I was put in two falls ago Diana.

As Cade talked, Diana felt her heart completely melt. It was like something out of a fairytale, but only one look at him showed her how happy and nervous and certain he actually was. She felt herself start to well up with tears, and she dashed them away quickly as she leaned in to give Cade a hug. “Oh, that’s so beautiful! I refuse to believe that anything will stand in the way of you two adopting him. I need to meet my new nephew immediately. Do you have pictures? Do you know his favorite cookies? How long until you know whether the adoption process has gone through?” She had to chuckle slightly as she leaned in to brush his cheek with a kiss. It was such a beautiful story, and somehow so exactly like Cade as he described the whole process and what they had been looking into. He and Drew were so good for each other, and she knew they would be amazing parents. “Look at you two, so impatient to start your family that you’ve found twice as much as you had originally thought.”

“Well, you’ve probably already seen Dom, and didn’t know it. He’s in a lot of our Paris pictures,” Cade laughed as he took out his phone and pulled up some photos of the boy. “I’m not sure what his favorite cookie is but I don’t think you could go wrong with a chocolate chip variety. Or perhaps some macroons.” The Dominant shrugged his shoulders. “We have a hearing next week that I’m flying back for and Andrew will be joining us via Skype. Luckily we were able to use a lot of our documentation for the surrogacy agency with the adoption, since we were in a hurry, and didn’t have to bug people like you for a second recommendation.” He nodded his head. “Andrew and I are both only children so it’s nice to know our children won’t have that.” Cade folded his arms over his chest. “Your turn. You wanted to catch up. So share.”

Thank you for letting me know. I agree there is no need for you to come to the Tower and if you feel secure enough in your apartment then I will not force you to move. I trust that neither of you plan on taking risks and I will insist that Nox, Claude or Jim come round just to check your security.

I’m afraid my best advice on Dominique would purely be guess work however my instinct would be to get him into the routine of school as soon as possible. The school will be able to advise you far better though.

Having designed and overseeing the building of the building, I do feel secure. But I am not above upgrading anything that they might see fir. I would also like someone to look at Andrew’s office, since there was an issue during the riots. I worry he is at risk being a Capulet claimed by a Montague.

Diana: Does she need anything now? Lord Tybalt's arrival prevented a mass of baking, but I do have some things around still

Diana: Since rage doesn't usually push outward for me, I can't say I understand it personally either

Diana: But Oz's sentencing...it's ridiculous. The evidence was so convoluted, and with how personally he's touched so many lives, it was never going to be a quiet case.

Cade: He's okay. Although I'm sure a young boy would never turn down delicious home baked cookies.

Cade: All I see when I look around is more reasons for the two families to be at each others throats. To attempt to make things worse for those of us who have chosen to build a life straddling the line, and frankly it makes me worry.

Cade: I get that he's polarizing and people were going to be upset either way. But it just... yeah. I can't even really explain how it's made me feel.

Diana: That's incredibly lucky

Diana: Vaughan was at the trial, so he had a feeling something would happen. Still, it came up more quickly than he expected

Diana: There's just a lot of people hurting

Diana: It's starting to feel like before, but even more personal

Cade: It was very quick. And with being on the top floor, we had quite the view of downtown. I had to keep Dominique from the windows and kept them drawn. And as things seemed to escalate, we moved to somewhere I felt was safer in the building, just in case anything happened.

Cade: I get hurting, and pain, but this isn't solving anything. I can't even believe it's helping the hurt or pain.

Cade: It feels much, much more personal.

Diana: Thank goodness

Diana: Vaughan and I are fine. I was safe at home the whole night, and Vaughan spent the night in his office. He made it home this morning.

Cade: Good, glad to hear all is well.

Cade: Thankfully I got a message to him that something was up before the towers went down and he knew to hunker down then.

Cade: I had some horrible thoughts until I knew Andrew was safe.

Cade: What the hell is happening to our city Di?

lf you have not seen either Nox or myself in the last 48 hours please report to the Tower within the day . If there is a reason you cannot visit the Tower then you should make telephone contact. Anyone not in touch within the time limit should expect a visit from security.

Stay safe and accomodation is available in the Tower for anyone who needs it. Do not take risks, let tempers settle and then regroup. Please do not attempt to inflame the situation further, no matter how well intentioned your actions.

My Lady,

Please accept this email confirmation. Andrew, Dominique, and myself are all accounted for and safe now. Dominique is the boy we just adopted from Paris... this has been quite the welcome experience for him. We will stay at our home, no need to further complicate and change things for the boy. I will contact Jim about securing Andrew’s office. I am a little concerned about Dominique starting school next week however, he was to start this week but we’ve pushed it back in light of events, but will wait to see if I’m just being overly cautious. As such, I don’t know that I could get out to meet you to check in at the Tower, or have much time for phone calls as I spend my days helping him settle into Verona.

I hope all are well and accounted for.
