Mobile devices own WiFi: study

Study released today suggesting that iOS and Android devices combined account for nearly 60% of all WiFi traffic. As for the desktop? Just 36% in 2011 - nearly half of what it was in 2010.

Earlier this week, another study showed the iPad takes nearly 97% of all web traffic from tablet devices in the US.

As tablets and touch mobile devices grow in popularity, these numbers give credence to the idea that people's web habits are changing, and migrating away from the desktop. Even more reason why publishers and media companies will continue to pursue mobile, especially the tablet, as they hope to capture new readers and grow their business.
