after months of mulling on it, I am Absolutely Certain that not only is spamton textually trans, but he was created Specifically to be in conversation with the trans representation in undertale

Noticing a pattern of people trying to frame Mettaton as a victim by claiming "b-but he's a trans man! 🥺", as if Spamton isn't a trans man too lmao

But he's old, homeless, disabled, and lacks charisma, so he doesn't matter I guess... He should remain isolated while being insulted by everyone. /sarcasm

Unrelated question, but what is your opinion on Mettaton abandoning or neglecting Napstablook and Alphys for years? Just curious

The worst part is that people who thought he was a victim it wasn't even about just donating Tenna or not, it was about him in Undertale too! (Yes, even with Napstablook, Mettaton was the victim for some people)

But then it evolved into "Mettaton is trans and only him needs help in Deltarune" but Spamton is trans too and needs help even more (he’s been homeless for years). Then come the bad faith arguments and even a bit of a guilt trip and condescending and reducing Spamton's story to just "yaoi" when it’s so much more than that. And even if it were just "yaoi", old mlm deserve love and nice things too????? We can disagree on different opinions without insulting or trying to belittle the actual person behind the screen, or trying to use a flawed argument that applies to both characters, or turning it into a moral issue. Or else saying that Pink and Mettaton are the "good" trans characters while Spamton is wrong and evil (even though Pink and Mettaton did the same thing to the kids in the Pacifist route that Spamton did (they almoat killed them), and both Mettaton and Spamton committed horrible acts in non pacifist routes).

Anyway, getting back to Mettaton: people were saying he was the victim in Undertale and that it wasn't wrong for him to leave his cousin behind for years just because he's trans and hated his body. Yeah, he is trans, but leaving Napstablook behind had nothing to do with that; he could have transitioned (and kept his body, fame, money, and fans) without lefting Napstablook and Shyren behind (especially knowing they struggle with self-esteem and tend to be very reclusive), and without forgetting that he had said he would perform with him. Because that's literally what happnein the pacifist ending!! That was his redemption arc!! That's the good ending!!

I don't have much to say about your analyses other than that they're all really good! 👌 Peak! I loved the touch of angst, and it's so cool to explore all that!

I think just another important thing to mention is that Alphys also said that after a while Mettaton only spoke to her to ask about his body, and Alphys tried to spend time with him, she even took him to Undyne's house. It's very possible (basically canon lol and I fully agree with this) she was taking too long to finally give him the new body without batteries that last just a few hours because she was scared. Buuuut at the same time she was trying to genuinely spend time with him, like hangingoutwith Undyne together. I love their friendship, they're so messy and flawed <3 I'm happy they're doing well on the Pacifist route
