Could Machete have hypermobility?
He could, I wouldn't be very surprised at all. I'm not 100% sure where exactly the border between regular flexibility and hypermobility lies. I think flexibility is something you attain through deliberate training and hypermobility is the way you're naturally built?
He is kinda bendy. That could just be me wanting to push for more exaggerated silhouettes though, as well as my own subconscious bias as someone with some degree of hypermobility. Sighthounds are known to be very elastic dogs, maybe that contributes too.

hello. what are your thoughts on murders in the rue morgue
Okay so there are two main things I find intriguing about the story and that's the relationship between Dupin and the Narrator and the treatment of the murderer (the orangutan)
Starting off with Dupin and the Narrator I think their relationship is so intriguing because of the two ways I think it could go
The idea of them being a romantic relationship is fascinating if you choose to look at it that way because a gay couple in 1800s France would obviously be rare or unheard of and that direction has a lot of evidence in the story such as the Narrator's constant analysis of how great Dupin is and how their "friendship" was forged in the form of a meet cute and the two are so understanding of each other. The narrator finds Dupin to be such a close person to him and would do anything for him.
They're both eccentric and they understand each other on such a compelling level. Dupin understands the Narrator's thoughts, and the Narrator understands that Dupin can be a bit odd but embraces those qualities because they make him feel alive. It's stated that they aren't romantic but the following bit the narrator covers sounds remarkably similar to someone who's got internalized homophobia. The idea of a romance also adds more depth to some of the language in the story such as them being "madmen of a harmless nature" or their nightly trips, potentially being to avoid speculation.
If you do interpret is a a platonic romance it still remains just as fascinating for the same reasons! A relationship like that would likely be unheard of and it would be an insanely looked over piece of history in regards to adult platonic or qpr and their portrayal in media!
The orangutan situation was also handled in a remarkable fashion, never once is it treated as something feral or evil. Many would think that after killing two women they'd be hunting this thing down viciously but it isn't portrayed in that manner. The orangutan is very clearly defined in the story as a victim of abuse and confusion. Its actions are not ever regarded as malicious, but rather a sense of misplaced understanding and curiosity that led to an accident. The orangutan didn't go on a murderous rampage, it was trying to use human tools and didn't fully grasp the concept, leading to the murders. And the panic that sent it in that direction was only brought on by a panic response due to mistreatment. The owner is also handled with some complex understanding because he isn't made out to be some evil guy for his abuse, but rather someone who wasn't prepared for the responsibility.
All of this shows an intriguing sense of understanding and compassion that is easily missed looking at it on a surface level.
Overall The Murders in the Rue Morgue is a remarkably complex story beyond the fact it was the first mystery novel (another thing that's fascinating due to the inspiration of Sherlock Holmes it brought on that is often confused).
I apologize if not all of this was coherent and also for responding so late! (´-﹏-`)
