The imaginary ladder of success, that checklist of success you have, it's actually quite brittle. I'll be honest with you, man – I'm looking for some kind of salvation. I really am."..."I feel like there's a genuine hole in me. The little death, almost. I need stimulation. I used to need physical stimulation constantly, whether that be from listening to the sound of my own voice, or flirting with guys or girls. I'm not bisexual, but that moment when you realise someone likes you – it's the best feeling in the world. If you could bottle it …" He drifts off for a moment. And then he asks that question. "Do you like me?"
Matt Healy being interviewed by Michael Hann for The Guardian
one of the first interviews I read about the 1975 and Healy is an interesting guy both forward and elusive at the same time in a way.
Bloc Party's Kele Okereke On Being Gay and Black in the Dance and Rock Worlds
Rock music is one of the few areas in music where it seems diversity is not to be encouraged. Can anyone remember the last time a major British music magazine put a non-white face on its cover? When Bloc Party started, we were told that things would be hard for us because indie rock was a predominantly straight white male world, so we were as surprised as any that our records charted and our tours sold out. We realized that the fans of music didn't seem to have a problem with the color of my skin or sexual orientation, it was rock journalists, always white male rock journalists that seemed to have an issue with it.
oh man, life is fucking weird. existence is weird and having little control over some stuff is just straight up trippy as hell.

The wordless, heaving chorus of "Wake Up" remains one of the most thrilling, bracing moments in recent rock history, the sort of jaw-dropping jolt that you’ll always remember experiencing for the first time. (For me, it was at Arcade Fire’s Oct. 2003 opening gig for the Constantines at Toronto’s Horseshoe Tavern, where the band’s upchucking performance of the song made it feel like you were standing in front of a jet turbine.) It’s the sound of all the pain and frustration that went into the making of Funeral being unleashed in one tsunami-sized cry, an enduring testament to the communal power and cathartic effect of singing in unison. It’s also become the most ubiquitous vocal device in contemporary rock

Here's to the 10 year anniversary of "Funeral".

really noticing your own personal growth, like I mean truly seeing it in action is something amazing.
im really tired of europeans on here reblogging posts about racism in america and adding shocked disapproving comments like “get it together america lol” as if there isn’t an enormous amount of racism in europe and as if it wasn’t the europeans that first colonized the new world that planted the seed of racism in north america
BREAKING: Police have strategically blocked any opportunities to see what's happening. #Ferguson
The younger crowd is pleading for the media to stay: “Show the world what they’re about to do to us!” #Ferguson
Just told to go into our cars. An on-scene reporter was told to get into his car, and media were told to get into their cars. It’s about to reach a boiling point in Ferguson.
Protesters are asking the media to stand with them and not return to the media area #Ferguson
One thing that really hurts about Robin Williams' death is that it is believed to have been suicide. This should be a lesson for everyone that depression is not an exclusive disorder. Someone's outward appearance can very easily mask their inward struggles. People always say “if you or anyone you know” and honestly SOMETIMES YOU DON’T KNOW. Make sure the people you care about know you care about them. Make sure they know you are there for them and are willing to support them whether they actually are dealing with depression or not.
From the film World’s Greatest Dad. RIP Robin Williams.
