I CRACKED AN EGG INTO A PAN TODAY AND THE WHITE WAS BLOOD. IT WAS ALL BLOOD. THIS IS THE END TIMES. I WISH I WAS KIDDING.

Was it haunted? Was it a Void Egg? Was it a harbinger of the apocalypse? Who can say. All I know is my stomach has still not settled and this happened over three hours ago. I mean, I’m always a little nervous about cracking open eggs in case there’s a partially formed chick in there, but until today I did sort of think that was a myth. 

 What a post to come back to after a year-long hiatus huh? Sorry.

I translated this on Google, so it might not be 100% accurate, but it basically says this:

TODAY I AM GOING TO JAPAN!

It’s going to be a crazy ride, and we’ve got a lot of awesome stuff to pack in to our trip. Apparently wifi is patchy in Japan (who’d a thunk it!) but I’ll be doodling our adventures as we go, and will try to update when I can in a Today I miniseries called “Kim and Dan are in Japan” (because it rhymes.)

So! Sayonara everyone. See you in a couple of weeks, when I am laden with glorious Neko Atsume plushies and a Pikachu with Ditto face.

We have had SO MUCH to do today in preparation of our trip tomorrow. And we still haven’t even started packing. Whups.

Luckily we’ve got pretty much everything else we needed to get done sorted, which means I can have a gin and a bath tonight and look forward to getting on the plane tomorrow. Or, as I like to call them, ‘metal sky coffins’.

This is for yesterday, in honour of the, frankly, ridiculous amount of rain that fell on me as I walked the TWO MINUTES from the bus stop to my house.

I don’t think I have ever been that wet in my life. Including baths and showers. The very essence of my being got wet. 

I didn’t think I was going to make it through the rivers of water that were running over the pavement.

It was in fact so wet that I couldn’t do anything but laugh. I properly cracked up. You should have seen the puddle I left in the porch. It was insane.

Seriously. Nothing fun or interesting happened at work, it’s hot and muggy and I’ve got too many pre-holiday lists to make tonight to put any more thought into this I’m afraid!

Tuesday’s pub quiz special round was a paper plane competition and it was awesome. I haven’t made paper planes in ages, and it was so much fun trying to come up with a design that flew well!

Ours came third, which wasn’t bad going. Made it nearly all the way across the pub. 

It also reminded me that planes can be fun. Even when you’re getting the rumblies about being on a real one in a few days time.

So I had a really strange, exhausting day. I went from horribly anxious to over the moon to really sad to moderately nervous to happy and back again.  This is probably because today I handed in my notice at my job, in order to start a shiny new job at NHS Dorset!

It’s very exciting, and it’ll make a huge difference to Dan and I in day-to-day life. At the same time I’m going to really miss the friends I’ve made at Veloce, and it’ll be terrifying having to leave a job that I am comfortable doing to try something completely new. Still, it’s a fun adventure, and I’m really looking forward to the challenge!

I haven’t had my start date through just yet, but I think it’ll be sometime next month. Wish me luck!

Since we’re going on honeymoon in LESS THAN ONE WEEK (holy moly!) we thought we’d better have a spring clean of the ole homestead because, quite frankly, we’ve been living in filth, and no one wants to come home to that when they’ve been on holiday.

So. We resisted the temptation to go out with the family for a fun day of beers and bbqs, and instead stayed in and got our clean on. I did the house, Dan did the garden, and now everything is tidy and shiny and nice. Except for us, because we’re covered in dust and bits of grass. 

Fair trade off, tbh.

Yesterday’s post is for yesterday. I am useless.

My sister and I haven’t been out on our own for aaaages, and we decided it was about time we had a super fun day together. So we did! We had a Wetherspoons breakfast (eggs benedict, and if you’re as interested as the table of old dudes sitting next to us, no our poached eggs weren’t very runny. Because we were in Wetherspoons,) before doing a bit of holiday shopping for me, which was MUCH less stressful than the last time I went shopping. Dare I say it, it was even quite fun! 

Then we had a bit of a mooch and our customary harbour pint before heading home via Kel and Gary’s to drop off Gary’s birthday present.  And when I say home. I obviously mean the pub, where we sat in the sun hand had a lovely time.  Thanks for a brilliant day Jen!

Our buddy James has been sending us treats in the post to make our trip to Japan even more awesome. We’ve got a magic whistle, some colouring-in, and best of all, a little bag (which I’m undecided whether to fill with stationary or make-up) covered in Eeveelutions. It’s adorable and I love it with my whole heart. Thanks ten billion duder :3

Now I’m curious as to which your favourite Eeveelution is. I was always an Umbreon girl, but the last few years I’ve gone over to camp Vaporeon. Also I won’t lie. I flipping love Sylveon. Those ribbons and bows are too cute for me to handle.

Who voted in the UK today? I sure did!  I can’t stress how important it is to vote whenever you have the option. Your voice matters, and it CAN make a difference, whether that be about who you want to run the country to what you want to happen to the empty council offices in your town. Voting is good. It gets you heard. 

You might think you don’t get politics. You might think you don’t like what ANY of the parties stand for. But read up. Get informed, then get involved. Saying nothing DOES nothing.

Go vote folks! There’s still time! I believe in you!

We went to Wayne & Sarah’s this evening and met their new little love scrunch, Ella. She is so diddy and nice you guys! Congrats again to new mummy and daddy, you are both awesome and you’re doing a fantastic job! 

Ella’s frilly pants are the BEST.

It’s so nice being an auntie. This weekend I got to hang out and be cool with Leonii, I got to be silly with Alfie, tonight I got to have smol sleepy cuddles with Ella, and I had that awesome toy battle with Mals a few weeks ago. They are all amazing and I am very lucky to have such great nieces and nephew.

At our pub quiz, the team that comes last gets to pick a specialist round for next week’s quiz. We came last last week, so obviously we chose Pokemon as our specialist round.

We. NAILED. It.

Ten out of ten, thanks very much. And we got double points because we played our special double points card. For a brief, shining moment, blitzing that round got us to first place. Which is something that has never, ever happened before.

I mean we didn’t win, but that’s hardly the point is it?

To be fair, this week’s losers chose paper airplanes for their round, so next week we all get to have a paper airplane race! I AM TOO EXCITED.

GAME OF THRONES SPOILERS! IF YOU’VE NOT SEEN THE LATEST EPISODE LOOK AWAY.

I know we’re not alone in this, but Dan and I totally called this happening while Jon Snow was getting stabbed at the end of last season. So. Happy to see it come to pass, but a little bit disappointed that they haven’t set him on fire yet and have him walk out of it unscathed to prove that other theory that’s going around about Jern Snerr and his lineage.

On another topic, my line manager sent me a link today about a new theory that’s going around that Hodor is, in fact, a horse’s brain trapped in a man’s body. Which sounds just so ridiculous I really want it to be canon. 

Also. Remember when the worst character was just Joffrey? Now we’re stuck with Ramsay Bolton.

Are you ready for MEGA POST WEDNESDAY??? Because I have been super lazy over the bank holiday weekend and have only just caught up. These’ll stay B&W for now because I have a whole mess of stuff to get sorted before we go away.

I watched Karate Kid Part II for the first time on Sunday. It was ace. I also got to learn the rules of Miyagi-Ryu karate: 

1. Karate is for defense only

2. First learn rule number one

We took Leonii to see Captain America: Civil War last night.

You guys it was SO GOOD. SO MANY FEELS.  It was SO GOOD in fact that it gave Leonii a nosebleed. THAT’S how good it was. You can’t give a better recommendation than that.
