Lady Lamb - We Are Nobody Else
A Bright New Boise by Samuel D. Hunter
âHere is a homey sweetness that isnât afraid to peer beyond the frontier, nor take its time doing so. Amongst washes of piano, reverb and lonesome, faraway harmonica, the duo profess patient, profound truths, bringing with them the elements of water, time, questions, and an acceptance in the absence of answers to those questions.â

I have a really good personal relationship with my partner. It's the spine on which the rest of my skeleton hangs.

STEREOGUM: If you had to describe the universe or place where the Nationalâs songs are situated, what would it look like?
BRYAN DEVENDORF: Probably a lot like Mattâs apartment.

Finally, in a low whisper, he said, âI think I might be a terrible person.â For a split second I believed him - I thought he was about to confess a crime, maybe a murder. Then I realized that we all think we might be terrible people. But we only reveal this before asking someone to love us. It is a kind of undressing.

That thing when your brother is out of town and you have a party in his bed
Dirty feet on a wooden floor Snowstorm almost quiet Each still moment a ringing note Living while it's dying Just like me

âThis is what it means to be a great artist... this was a man who showed us how to do life differently than anyone had ever done it before...â
- Elizabeth Gilbert on the passing of David Bowie

âThere's definitely a motivation in writing something down or creating something and recording it, whether it's just a thought, because you're trying to stop time a little bit and you want to make something. We take photos of our lives. Why do we do that? Why do we need to? I mean, we can look in the mirror if we want to see ourselves, but we take pictures of our kids and our families and ourselves at moments because we always want to go back and remember. Remember that our life is good and things are good and remember that things are good because it's easy to forget. Sometimes we get lost in fear and darkness and sadness. And sometimes you have to remind yourself. Sometimes it's easy to forget all the little bits and pieces that make it. Life is really hard to live; it's hard to stay alive in the world, it is. Not that you're going to get hit with a tree, but people everywhere, no matter how healthy of mind and spirit you are, sometimes you look at the darkness, and all you can see is the darkness. So you have to capture the little bits of light and replay them for yourself. That's what songs are, that's what movies are, people are trying to remember.â
