I find it interesting that most if not all of the Fossilized Wonder characters are either related or mentioned in past works. Ubame is the boss of the Sanctuary. Chimi is vaguely related to Nue and helped create Nareko who is given life by Okina. Yuiman related to the Suwa myth. Toyohime is just Toyohime. Ariya is of course Iwanaga who is mentioned in Forbidden Scrollery chapter 26. Nina is a shen which is mentioned in Oriental Sacred Place chapter 9. Did Zun realized what he had done?

I guess you can speculate about Okina having animated Nareko, but I don't think that's actually stated, unless I've missed something. Okina appears from her back in one of the endings, sure, but she can put those doors anywhere.

On one hand I'd agree that the cast seems a bit more connected to past works than usual, but on the other I don't see anything too extraordinary or meaningful about it. That's just my boring skeptic nature. Funnily the simple presence of Toyohime and Iwanaga in the same work makes me feel like the most direct connection is to CiLR, partly because naturally my most cited part of that book is the Mokou chapter where Iwanaga is mentioned.

That said, I'd think the biggest connection isn't actually any callback in this game but this very direct foreshadowing from UDoALG.
