can you just kiss already?
unexpected pt 5
“No it’s too early.” Amelia said sitting up in the hospital bed.
“We tried the Terbutaline, and it didn’t work. It’s going to be fine though, your 34 weeks almost 35. We’ve got this.” Carina reassuringly told the scared neurosurgeon. “We’re going to take you up for a c-section in a couple of minutes.”
“It’s going to be okay, Mia.” Link kissed his girlfriends sweaty forehead.
“Call Maggie or Meredith or someone, see if someone wouldn’t mind taking Scout.” Amelia asked her boyfriend on the verge of tears.
“Already taken care of, my parents are with him.”
“When did they get here?”
“This afternoon they were coming in to have dinner with us. They’re gonna stay with Scout for a little bit cause it seems like we’re going to be in the NICU with the baby.”
“Oh god.” Amelia groaned anxiously, she just wanted her baby to be fine.
“Amelia, look at me.” Link gently moved her chin with his hand so she was looking at him. “Our baby’s going to be perfectly fine.”
“Are we ready?” Carina asked coming back into the room ready to take them up to the OR.
“No.” A nervous Amelia responded.
“It’s going to be just fine.” Carina said, wheeling the bed out of the room.

“Grandma!” Scout happily exclaimed running towards her.
“Hey.” She reciprocated the hug the little boy was giving her. “How are you?”
“Good.” Scout happily responded as his grandmother sighed him out of daycare.
“Good, I’m going to take you home. I think grandpa is making dinner. And maybe we’ll get some ice cream afterwards.” Maureen told her grandson whilst picking him up to take him back to his house.
“Yay!” The boy exclaimed. “Want to play dinosaurs when we get home?”
“Sure. We can do that.” The walk back to the house was non eventful, Scout told his grandmother all the dinosaur facts he could list off the top of his head.
“Just in time dinners ready.” Eric announced once the pair walked into the kitchen.
“Good, I’m sure your hungry. Right Scout?” Maureen asked the small boy.
“Yep.” Scout happily replied jumping up onto his usually chair. He was quite content, especially that no one was talking about the supposed new baby coming soon.
“So are you excited for the new baby? They’ll be here tonight probably.” Eric told his grandson. Scout stopped the fork from going into his mouth and slammed it down onto the plate.
“No, baby still has to be in mommy’s belly. Daddy said a couple of more Mondays.” Scout announced crossing his arms.
“Well that was what was supposed to happen, but the baby wanted to come early. You’ll love it.” Eric tried to explain.
“No.”
“Well, how about we finish our meal.” Maureen tried to change the subject.
“No thank you.”
“You need to eat bud, you barely ate.”
“Okay.” Scout replied back bitterly. He did not want a new baby, he thought he still had enough time to convince his parents to give the baby away.

“You like what you see?” Amelia sarcastically asked her boyfriend in reference to her open abdomen.
“Always.” Her boyfriend smirked kissing her temple. He watched as Carina took the baby out and clamped the umbilical cord. Passing the baby over to Hayes quietly, attentively trying to repair excessive bleeding.
“Why aren’t they crying?”
“Why is she bleeding so much?”
Amelia and Link asked at the same time.
“Well, Amelia it looks like your placenta has ruptured.” Carina responded trying to stay focused, she’d never lost a patient and she wasn’t going to start with a good friend.
“I’m going to take your baby up to the NICU. Everything is as expected we’ll put her on a breathing tube and go from there. Congratulations.” Hayes told the scared couple as he wheeled the baby out of the OR.
“Ha, it’s a girl.” Amelia said through tears. “Go, go, go. Go be with her.”
“No, I’m staying right here.” Link affirmed, he was starting to get more and more nervous when he realized Carina was having difficultly stopping the bleeding. Which his girlfriend seemed to be totally oblivious too.
“I’ll be just fine, go be with her.” Amelia told her boyfriend drowsily as she started to skip in to unconsciousness.
“Carina? What’s the issue? Stop the freaking bleeding!” Link yelled starting to panic.
“Out of my OR Link.” Carina bit back, starting to get stressed. She didn’t need a terrified parent watching her every move, nonetheless a surgeon.
“Nooo way, I’m staying.” Link affirmed, until a scrub nurse directed him out of the OR. “I love you Mia!”
_______________________________________________
The scrub nurse directed him off the OR floor. He didn’t want to go up to the NICU, he wanted them to meet their baby together. So he found himself in the plant room. Their room, where it seemed all their most important and intimate moments happened. It took him a minute to realize his phone was ringing before picking it up.
“Hey mom.” A monotone Link answered.
“Everything okay?” Maureen asked getting concerned with her sons tone.
“No Amelia’s still in the OR probably bleeding to death. And the baby’s in the NICU, I don’t even know what’s happening.”
“Do you want me to come up there and sit with you? Or maybe it’ll help if you go see the baby.”
“No, it’s fine. How’s Scout?”
“Oh, he’s good. A little bit of a fight with dinner but he ate.”
“He ate something other than Dino nuggets?” Link chuckled into the phone.
“Yeah he did.” Maureen chuckled along with her son. “A little upset that you two aren’t here, but he’s content at the moment playing dinosaurs with your father.”
“Good. When you put him to bed make sure he has the night light on and the sound machine. He won’t be able to sleep so he’ll just turn on the lights and start playing.”
“Will do. I don’t mean to pry but are you going to tell me anything about my new grand baby?”
“I don’t really know anything, I can’t go see her without Amelia. I just can’t do this without Amelia mom. What if something happens and I’m alone with two kids?”
“Link, Amelia’s a fighter. And of worst comes to worst you’ve got us but that’s not going.m to happen.” Link just hummed in response until Maureen broke the silence. “So it’s a girl?”
“Oh yeah, I haven’t really seen her yet. I already know she’s a little carbon copy of Mia though.”
________________________________________________
“Baby.” Amelia groggily said.
“Hey your up.” Link smiled closing the magazine he was reading and coming to her side.
“How’s my baby?”
“Good, good. Mer is upstairs with her. We can go see her in a little bit when your less groggy. She’s on the vent, but apparently she’s looking pretty good. She’s going to be just fine.” Link smiled leaning down to kiss his girlfriend.
“Apparently? You mean you haven’t seen her?” Amelia asked her boyfriend confused.
“Yeah, I wanted to meet her with you.”
“She’s been alone for hours?” Amelia asked accusingly starting to get upset.
“Mer and Maggie have been with her. She not alone.”
“Yeah and she probably thinks they’re her mothers. God Link! I told you to go be with her!” The neurosurgeon was starting to get herself into a state, deeply upset with her boyfriend.
“Amelia, I’m sorry I just couldn’t. Not without you.”
“Your an idiot. An absolute idiot.” Amelia huffed tears stinging in her eyes. “How’s Scout?”
“He’s good, hopefully in bed by now.”
“Take me to go see her.” Amelia sat up in the hospital bed cautious of her major abdominal injury.
“Amelia, that’s not a a great idea.” Link told his girlfriend, only to be given a death glare. “I’ll go find a wheelchair.”
_________________________________________________
A couple days had passed, and the pair was doing much better, Amelia’s injury healing as it should, and their unnamed daughter was getting stronger by the day.
“Look who came to see his baby sister.” Link happily whispers shouted with their son in his arms, squiring a dollop of hand sanitizer into their hands.
“Hey my little guy.” Amelia smiled taking her hands from inside the incubator and reaching them out for her son. Showering him in kisses. “I missed you sooo much.”
“Me too.” Scout responded snuggling deeper into his mothers embrace, that had been the longest they’d ever been apart.
“There’s your baby sister.” Amelia pointed into the clear incubator.
“She’s tiny.” Scout noted, observing all the wires coming from her. “She a robot?”
“No bud, she just needs those to help her out a bit and feel better.” Link answered after laughing at his sons prediction.
“What’s her name?” The small boy asked intrigued by the small baby.
“We don’t know yet. We have a couple of ideas what do you like? We’ve got Charlotte, Eleanor, Arabella, Addison, Sawyer.” Amelia listed off to her son.
“Addie.” Scout immediately said. “Starts with A , like mommy’s name and daddy’s name and my first name.”
“Huh, I never realized that.” Link noted. “Amelia, Atticus, Augustus, and Addison. I kinda like it.”
“Addison it is.” Amelia smiled to herself, thinking about how excited her old friend would react to hearing they’d name their daughter after her.
“And that S name for a middle name. She can be just like me. Since my name is Augustus Scout. she can be Addison...” Scout waited for someone to fill in the missing word.
“Sawyer.” His mother finished for him.
“Addison Sawyer.” Scout tried out, intently looking at the little baby. “Okay, not sad anymore.”
“Good I’m glad.” Amelia let out a sigh of relief kissing her sons forehead. Knowing her son was probably acting so nice while he was caught up in the moment and once the baby was up crying all night and stealing his toys it’d be a different story. “
Family of four.” Link smiled, leaning down to kiss his girlfriend and place a kiss on his sons forehead.
it’s been a hot minute since ive posted, ive started school back up and my boyfriend really said let’s break up so that’s fun, hope everyone is staying safe and is doing well
unexpected pt 4
“These don’t taste good.” Scout announced to his father, after he tried the waffles put in front of him.
“What do you mean?” Link asked.
“Mommy makes it better.” Scout said with a pout on his face.
“I know, but you’ll have to deal with me.” Link said distractingly as he packed the small boys lunchbox.
“Wake mommy up. She makes waffles.”
“She needs to sleep. She was at work all night.”
“She’s made waffles after work.” Scout pouted again, starting to get irritated.
“Yeah, but the baby needs her to get more sleep especially now that it is getting closer to term.”
“Term?” Scout asked, not familiar with the word.
“That’s like the time when the baby is ready and is going to come out. But not quite we still have awhile.” This caused Scout to sigh dramatically. “Well, are you ready to go?”
“No.”
“Well, we have to go.”
“Stay here.” Scout affirmed, jumping down from his chair and making a run for his room.
“Scout.” Link tried to grab his sons attention but he was already down the hall. He made his way into his sons room to see him playing with his dinosaur toys he was obsessed with. “You’ve got to go to preschool and I’ve got to go to work.”
“Stay with mommy.” Scout said not looking at his father.
“You can’t bud. I know you want to, but don’t you want to see all your friends?” Link asked, picking up his son only for him to start screaming. “You’ve got to calm down.”
“Not going.” Scout yelled at his father as he tried to get out of his fathers grasp.
“Yes you are.” This only caused the small toddler to expedite his tantrum.
“Whats going on?” Amelia asked half asleep leaning in the doorway.
“Stay here with you.” Scout told his mother, immediately calming down and staying still in his fathers arms.
“You’ve got to go.” Link told his son.
“I think it’ll be alright if he missed a day.” Amelia smiled.
“Are you sure?” Link asked skeptically.
“Yeah, I haven’t spent enough time with my little guy.” Amelia sat herself on the floor where Scout left his dinosaurs so they could play.
“Babe, you can’t be on the floor that long your gonna throw out your back.” Link told his girlfriend.
“I’ll be fine Link, just let Scout down.” Link obliged and their son made his way over to play with his mother.
“I’m already late I should get going. Call if you need me.” Link told her as he left the room to try to get to work on time.
_______________________________________________
Amelia had just put her son down for his nap and was lounging in the living room. She bit at her nails, trying to ebb away her anxiety about her sons jealousy. In result of her thinking she picked up her phone and clicked her mothers contact.
“Hey Mom.” Amelia greeted once her mother picked up the phone.
“What’s going on kiddo?”
“I’m struggling with Scout.” Since her adventure to New York with Link, her relationship with her mother had gotten exceedingly better and she now went to her for advice.
“He’s not adjusting to the news well?”
“Not at all. When we first told him he denied it, and then hated me for a couple of days. I then explained how I’m not replacing him and I thought that he understood and it worked. Then all the sudden this morning he refused to go to school, and threw a tantrum which is not like him at all.” Amelia quickly ranted.
“Amy I cant tell you what to do, I just give you the facts and let you decide what to do with it. But I would’ve made him go, he may start to realize if he throws a tantrum you’ll give up and you definitely don’t want that once the new baby comes.”
Amelia listened intently as her mother told her how she handled the situation of sharing the news of a new pregnancy with her children and got useful advice. Her mother told her about the mistakes that she made which made the pack of them so competitive, the two stayed on the phone a bit longer until Amelia told her mother she had to go. After the satisfying call with her mother Amelia fell asleep in an awkward position on the couch.
_________________________________________________
“Mommy.” Scout said firmly shaking his mothers shoulder. “Your silly, you fell asleep.”
“Hmm, guess I did.” Amelia smiled, sitting up slowly trying to ease the painful ache in her back.
“Let’s play please.” She smiled at her son, he knew his manners. But he only seemed to use them when he knew someone was not happy with him, something they need to fix.
“What do you want to play?”
“Dinosaurs!” Scout announced excitingly running to his room to get his favorite dinosaur and the one his mother always used. As Scout was in the next room Amelia felt a painful twinge in her lower abdomen but shook it off, she had Braxton Hicks with Scout.
“Here. Your favorite.” Scout announced to his mother handing the small plastic toy over.
“Thank you.” Scout crawled under the coffee table waiting for his mother to join him.
“Come on.” Scout prompted his mother to follow his lead, she usually would crawl under with him and would pretend they were in a cave.
“I’m gonna stay right here. I’d love for you to take my dinosaur in the cave though.”
“No. Come on mommy.” Scout didn’t understand why his mother was being so difficult.
“How about we have our dinosaurs go on a mountain climbing expedition, the couch can be the mountain.” Scout seemed to accept this answer and made his over to his mother. While they played Amelia kept glancing at the clock. The contractions definitely weren’t sporadic, but she still had time.
“Mommy, are you playing?” Scout asked noticing his mother wasn’t paying attention.
“I need to go call your father.” Amelia took out her phone and tapped on his contact. No response, he was most likely in surgery. “Okay, were going to go to the hospital.”
“But mommy, we playing.”
“I know I’m sorry bud.” Amelia apologized as she slowly got up, her lower back felt like it was splitting in half. She got the go bag and a pair of shoes for Scout.
“Mommy, please we can stay.” Scout begged as his mother put on his shoes for him.
“I’d love to, but we really got to go.”
“What hurts?” Scout asked, he wasn’t hurt and she wasn’t working so what was happening.
“It seems like the baby wants to come out. Which isn’t a good thing because it still needs a bit more time in there.” Amelia was internally freaking out this baby needed more time, and they needed more time to help Scout adjust.
“Okay.” Scout realized his mother was upset, and it made him upset.
_______________________________________________
Amelia was grateful Link walked to work today and left the car for her, and the fact that the hospital was less than ten minutes away. She safely got her and her son there. Once she dropped off Scout she made her way to the elevator to go to the OB floor.
“Everything okay? I was just about to call you back.” Link greeted just barely making it into the elevator before it closed.
“I’m having contractions. Scouts in daycare.”
“Are you sure it isn’t Braxton Hicks, you had them with Scout around this time.” Link started to panic.
“I hope it is, but they kept getting closer together.”
“Okay, Okay it’s going to be fine we got this. Scouts gonna be fine, the baby’s gonna be fine we’re all going to be fine.” Link ranted, starting to spiral.
“Your saying it’s fine a lot for someone who doesn’t seem fine.” Amelia was acting uncharacteristically calm.
“Well, seems like we’re having a baby.” Link chuckled.
“We’re having a baby.” Amelia smiled.

Can you write a part 3 of unexpected? Hope you’re having an amazing day
unexpected pt 3
“Link?!” Amelia shouted from the kitchen where she was making breakfast. “Are you two almost ready?”
“Yep here we are.” Link answered, coming into the kitchen fully dressed and their son in pajamas.
“Hey bud, why aren’t you dressed?” Amelia asked putting a waffle onto the plate in front of her son.
“I’m no talking to you.” Scout said bitterly.
“Scout, please don’t do this.” The boys mother begged. “You know I love you.”
“He refused to get dressed, and he’s barley talking to me. Don’t take it personally.” Link whispered in his girlfriends ear.
“Don’t take it personally? Your kidding right?” Amelia responded raising her voice.
_______________________________________________
“Why’s Scout in his pajamas?” Meredith asked once she came into the lounge, after dropping off her kids at daycare.
“He refused to get dressed this morning.” Link told the general surgeon as he walked out of the room.
“So it didn’t go well?” Meredith directed towards her sister who was laying on the couch.
“Nope, he hates me. He seemed okay last night, but apparently he isn’t.”
“Well, Bailey didn’t take the idea of Ellis that well but he adjusted after a week or so. Zola was excited though, she loves being a big sister.”
“He’s only been sitting with this for a day. He’ll get used to it right?” Amelia questioned biting her nail.
“I would say yes. But you’ve been in the new house for almost 3 months now and he still hates it so I don’t know.” Meredith smirked, enjoying the scared look Amelia had.
“That’s comforting.” Amelia sarcastically said.
“It’s going to be fine, Amelia.” Meredith told her sister as she left.
_______________________________________________
“Scout it’s bedtime.” Amelia reprimanded, her son still playing with his toys ignoring his mother. “Scout, this is the last time I’m gonna ask you.”
“Can I have two stories?” Scout asked not looking at his mother.
“We’ll see. Now come on get your pajamas on.” The little boy got up from the living room floor and made his way to his bedroom. Amelia helped her son into his pajamas and to brush his teeth, but with each task the boy made it difficult. She finally was able to lure her son into his bed, and got up to turn off the light and say goodnight.
“Wait. You said you read to me.” Scout announced sitting up quickly.
“You weren’t very nice to me. So I don’t think I should read you a story.”
“I’m sorry.” Amelia went to sit down on her sons bed.
“Can you tell me what you’re feeling?” Amelia and Link always made sure that their son knew it was okay to identify and feel emotions.
“I’m sad. You’ll love this baby more. Like I love you more than daddy.” Scout confessed crawling into his mothers lap to be closer to her. While Amelia stifled a laugh at his last statement.
“Scout, I promise you that’s not going to happen. My hearts just going to grow for the two of you.”
“No you have to love me more. There’s not a enough room for baby.” Once her son said this she debated on telling him something.
“There is enough room I promise. You know when you were in my belly, I was scared there wasn’t enough room to love you and your brother.” The small boy looked up at his mother confused. She wasn’t quite sure how she was going to explain this yet.
“I don’t have a brother.”
“You do, he was born before you. He was sick though so he isn’t here anymore, but he helped a lot of people.” Amelia explained tears forming in her eyes. “But my heart just grew, I don’t love either of you more than the other.”
“Okay, so you won’t love the baby more?” Scout asked curiously.
“Nope, it’s just gonna be more love for everyone.” Amelia affirmed.
“I still don’t like it.”
“That’s okay, I think once the baby’s here you may feel differently. Now you’ve got to go to bed.”
“What about a story.”
“I’ll read you three tomorrow.” Amelia told her son as she tucked him under the covers, she felt like she was going to cry and she didn’t want to do that in front of her son.
“Okay.” Scout disappointingly nodded, Amelia got up to shut off the main light and turn on the nightlight.
“Goodnight, I love you, I’ll see you tomorrow.” Amelia assured her son as she closed the door behind her. She then went to their backyard so she could sit on the deck. During her first pregnancy she spent a lot of time outdoors contemplating. She definitely wasn’t expecting to tell scout about his brother tonight, she thought it would happen when he was older and Link was with her.
“I’m home.” Link whisper-shouted through the foyer. His girlfriend was usually up watching TV when he came home. He went through their house not finding her anywhere. Then he ventured back downstairs to find the backdoor opened slightly. “Watcha doing out here?”
“Oh hey I didn’t hear you come in.” She quickly sat up drying her tears.
“Hey what’s going on?”
“Um, I told Scout about Christopher. I don’t think he really understood, but I was trying to explain this baby wasn’t replacing him. And that my love is just going to grow.” Amelia expressed scooting over on the lounge chair so her boyfriend could sit beside her.
“Did it seem to help?” Link asked, he wasn’t quite sure what to say or do to help his girlfriend.
“A little. He still really disdains the whole situation.” She chuckled lightly.
“I think it’s all going to be okay. I think they’re going to be the best of friends.”
“I don’t think it’ll matter how long we’re together. I’ll never understand how you assume the best.” Link smiled chastely kissing his girlfriends lips tasting the remnant of fallen tears.
“Want to know what Scout told me?” Link nodded into her neck. “He loves me more.”
“No he doesn’t.” Link detached himself from her turning to look in her eyes.
“Yep came straight from his mouth. He was telling me there is only room for one person in a heart. And I was the person he loved the most.” She smirked smugly.
“He’s lucky he is so cute, cause if he wasn’t he’d be sleeping out here in the cold.” Link joked. “You as well.”
“You just think of me as cute?” His girlfriend asked in a sultry manner.
“I think of you as a lot of things.” Link smirked, before kissing her passionately. Leading their night into more of an adult fun.
part 4
unexpected pt 2
“When are you gonna tell him?” Meredith asked as she made a cup of coffee.
“I’m not sure yet, soon though. He told me I was getting fat this morning.” Amelia giggled slightly.
“Do you think he’ll take the news of you being pregnant badly?” Meredith asked sitting across from Amelia at the table in the lounge.
“I mean Scout was devastated when we moved. So I don’t know if that was because he just really loved that apartment, or he just hates change.”
“He’ll find out sooner or later.” Meredith smirked as she got up to leave.
“Wait your not gonna tell me how you told your kids when you were pregnant with Ellis.” Amelia asked turning around in her seat.
“Nope. I want to see how you do it.” Meredith mischievously smiled.
_______________________________________________
“So I think tonight should be the night when we tell Scout about the new baby.” Amelia told Link as he changed into his pajamas.
“You think? I mean he still hates the house, shouldn’t we wait a little longer? I mean he may just lose it.” Link chuckled.
“I mean he has to learn how to adapt to change. Maybe he’ll absolutely love the idea of a new sibling.” Amelia unconvincingly said.
“Yeah I’m sure he’ll love the idea of sharing you with someone else. Last week when we were over at Meredith’s and Ellis was crawled up onto your lap, I thought Scout was gonna go push her off of you.”
“Well it’s happening whether he wants a sibling or not.” Amelia affirmed hoisting herself off of the bed and making her way to their sons room, Link right behind her.
“Hey bud, can we talk?” The boy’s mother asked as she sat down on the three year olds bed. The boy nodded eagerly in response crawling onto his mothers lap.
“What are you telling me?” Scout asked looking at his parent nervously. The last time they asked to talk they told him they were moving to a new house.
“Well, in a couple of months your going to have a little sibling.” Link enthusiastically said. Scout sat up, with a confused expression on his face.
“What?”
“Yeah it’s in mommy’s tummy right now.” Link said placing his hand on his girlfriend small bump.
“Can you not?” Scout asked.
“It’s going to be a change, but this is a good thing and it’s happening.” Amelia tried to be firm and state her point.
“I don’t want one though. Bailey has sisters and he says that they’re annoying. And Leo says Allison always pulls his hair.” The little boy pouted.
“Well, that’s true. It’s not always going to be fun, but you’ll always have a friend who’ll love you and you’ll love them.” Amelia tried to reason, only resulting in the boy shaking his head in disagreement.
“Your always saying how you wish you had someone to play with, you’ll be able to play games together. I always wanted a sibling when I was a kid.” Link added, trying to convince his son that this was a good thing.
“Yeah, and I had four siblings growing up. I always had someone to play with, or talk to, or to get help from.” Amelia said, she wasn’t going to go into the rockiness of their relationship or how most of their childhood they resented her.
“I’ll think about it.” Scout concluded, moving to slip under his covers. “Can you please read me a story mommy?”
“Of course.” The boy’s mother smiled wearily, knowing their son wasn’t happy going to be happy with the new change coming in a couple of months.
_______________________________________________
“How do you think it went?” Amelia asked as she pushed a piece of floss in between her teeth.
“Well, he didn’t throw a tantrum like I expected. I think he’ll adjust, they’ll get along.”
“What if they don’t? What if they hate each other? What if it’s just a competitive fight their whole lives?” Amelia ranted nervously.
“We won’t let that happen. It’s going to be okay. Our kids will always be loved whether or not they get along. It’s gonna be okay.” Link tried to calm his girlfriends nerves, but he wasn’t convinced himself. If his son didn’t want to do something, he wasn’t going to comply.
“I just don’t want him to turn out like my sisters and I.” Amelia confessed as she got into bed to snuggle against him.
“Whatever happens, happens.”
“I hate it when you do that.” Link placed his hand on the growing bump, smirking.
“So do you think it’s going to be a boy or a girl.”
“You know what I think about that, Link.” Amelia sarcastically rolled her eyes. “But I think it maybe a girl, this just feels different than my other pregnancies.”
“Well either way, I can’t wait to meet them.” Link smiled, pulling his girlfriend into a kiss.
i wrote something a while back and wanted to make a part 2 so there’s this i hope everyone is doing well and staying safe
part 3
I know this is really far ahead into the future, but could u write Amelia finding out she’s pregnant again? Totally unplanned but very welcomed and she scolds link for knocking her up again 😂 and maybe Link going “hey my guts prevailed!” just like in PP when Cooper found out Charlotte is pregnant 🤪
that’s for the prompt i greatly appreciate it! i hope you have a great day and enjoy this
unexpected
“Hey, are you alright Amelia?” Link gently shook her shoulder trying to wake her up.
“No, I’m dying leave me alone.” Amelia snapped, pulling the covers over her head.
“Ooookay then, we’ll I’m gonna take Scout to school. Then I’m going to head into work, do you want me to pick you up?”
“No, I’m sleeping. I’m not leaving bed today.”
“It’s Ellis’ birthday, you promised Mer you’d help her this afternoon.” This caused an irritated groan from the woman.
“Scouts gonna be late. You better get moving and leave me alone.”
“Okay, okay I’ll get going. Feel better.”
_________________________________________________
“You look like crap.” Meredith said as she opened the door for Amelia.
“Why thank you.” Amelia bitterly responded petting the dog who was jumping up looking for attention.
“I needed you to bake the cake, if your sick you can’t do it though. I don’t need people getting sick.”
“I’m fine Mer.” She made her way to the kitchen to begin baking.
“Oooookay then. Well I need to go find this book Ellis has been dying to read. I went to one book store after dropping the kids off and couldn’t find it so I’m going to try another. Are you good here?”
“Yep don’t worry about it Mer.” Amelia smiled as her sister left her alone with the dog. She began to pull out the ingredients and cooking utensils she needed. Once she put the mixture into the pan and put it in the oven before she headed over to the couch.
“Hey.” Maggie said tiredly as she came into the house after a night shift. She sat herself down next to Amelia. “I’m exhausted, I just want to sleep. But you know it’s Ellis’ birthday.”
“Hmm.” Amelia hummed, the beeping of the oven then startling her. “I gotta go get that.”
“Why were you put in charge of baking?” Maggie questioned following her into the kitchen.
“Oh I don’t know, maybe because last time you baked a birthday cake you almost caught the house on fire.” Amelia sarcastically said, starting to feel more like herself. “How was your shift?”
“It was alright. Nothing to exciting I didn’t operate just consults and monitoring a patient. Why didn’t you come into work this morning?”
“I wasn’t feeling too good.” She carefully slid the cake from out of the pan and onto a baking sheet.
“Are you better now?”
“Yeah” She said as she took the icing from out of the fridge.
“I’m starving.” Maggie said walking towards the fridge. “I’m gonna make some pizza want some?”
“Sure” Amelia answered distractedly, she was trying to ice the cake without making a huge mess.
“Okay I’ll make this cheese one since you hate pepperoni.”
“It’s fine just make the pepperoni.” Maggie turned around and looked at Amelia very confused. She would always refuse to eat any pizza with pepperoni on it.
“Umm okay then.”

“Well I think that was a success.” Meredith commented starting to wash the dishes in the sink. It was a small get together with a couple of Ellis’ friends and the family.
“Yeah.” Amelia yawned taking down the streamers in the living room.
“We can finish up here if you want to go home Amelia.” Maggie said as she was picking up miscellaneous items on the floor.
“Okay, I’m out then. Have a good night guys.” Amelia grabbed her bag and her coat then yelled ‘Happy Birthday’ to Ellis who was upstairs reading.
“What’s up with her?” Meredith asked as Maggie sat at the kitchen island.
“I think she’s pregnant.” This caused Meredith to turn around abruptly.
“You think so? Do you think she knows?”
“I don’t think she realizes, but today I was making a pizza and she didn’t have a whole hissy got over the pepperoni.”
“Oh Maggie that could mean anything. When your a mom you just start eating whatever.” Meredith turned back around to continue her task. “Well she didn’t look well when she came over I thought she was sick. She was fine this afternoon though.”
“She’ll find out soon enough.” Smirked Maggie.

“Mommy I missed you soooo much.” Scout ran into his mother once she came through the door.
“Oh I missed you too baby. How was your day?” She asked as the pair walked over to the kitchen where Link was heating up dino nuggets the only thing their son would eat at the moment.
“It was good. I made a drawing for you.” Scout ran to his room to fish the drawing out of his book bag.
“How was Ellis’ birthday sorry we couldn’t make it.” Link said supporting his head with his hands as he leaned against the counter.
“It was quiet, but very nice. She’s definitely much different than her siblings. Sometimes I think Zola and Bailey will never shut up.” Laughed Amelia.
“I wonder where they picked that up from.” Link sarcastically remarked, causing Amelia to roll her eyes.
“Here mommy.” Scout jumped up beside his mother on the kitchens island.
“Aww, thank you so much my sweet boy. That was very kind of you to draw this for me.” She admired the picture of what she thought was a prehistoric reptilian of some sort. He had a recent obsession with anything dinosaur recently.
“Your welcome mommy.” Scout smiled as he reached out for the plate his father set down for him.
“I’ve gotta go to the store tomorrow need anything babe?” Link asked as he took out his phone to make a list.
“Umm not that I can’t think of. Just make sure we have enough dino nuggets.” She laughed as she shoved one in her mouth. “Wait, Scout needs more of those vitamins he’s running low. Oh and floss please.”
“Of course the floss.” Link laughed, there wasn’t a night that his girlfriend didn’t floss her teeth. “While I’m in that section do you need tampons.”
“No I’m good.” After she said that she froze. She hadn’t needed a tampon in an absurd amount of time.
“You okay?” Her boyfriend nonchalantly asked not thinking much of his girlfriends reaction.
“Yeah, yeah. You ready for bath time bud?” Amelia asked her son.
“Yep.” Scout jumped down from the chair he was occupying. After Scouts bath he headed to his room to be read a book with his father, and Amelia lingered a little while longer in the bathroom. She crouched down to the cabinet and found a pregnancy test she never ended up using from a scare awhile back. She waited the five minutes for the results and when she flipped it over it caught her by surprise even though she knew what it was going to say. A knock on the bathroom room jarred her out of her thoughts.
“You okay in there babe?” Link asked from the other side of the door.
“Come in here.” Link obliged and let himself through the door. Everything finally clicked when he saw what was in her hands. “You’ve got to be kidding me Link! You knocked me up!”
“I mean what can I say? My guys really prevailed.” Her boyfriend smirked.
“Link! I just started my research back up. We’re in a comfortable routine with Scout. How’s Scout going to react? We would definitely need to move this apartment wouldn’t be able to capacitate all of us. What if Scout hates the idea of a new sibling?” Amelia ranted on, while she bit her nails.
“Ooookay, one thing at a time. You don’t have to do this if you don’t want to.” Link said while taking her hand away from her face and holding it.
“No, of course I want to. It’s just...unexpected. It’s just a lot, I wasn’t expecting it.”
“It definitely is unexpected.” Chuckled Link. “But Scout was too, and he’s the best thing that’s ever happened to us.”
“You got that right. Thank god we can finally move. This apartment was really getting on my nerves.” Amelia said, standing on her top toes to kiss her boyfriend.
“Hey, you said you liked the apartment.” Link said after Amelia had kissed him.
“Well I think Scout would have fun in a backyard.”
“Your right, though. I think if we let him he’d live in the woods.”
“Most definitely” Amelia looked her boyfriend in his eyes. “I guess we’re having another baby, Link.”
“I guess we are.”

Love some Pregamelink 🤌🏻🤌🏻💕💕
me loving writing s15 amelink but people not enjoying reading it as much and only sending pregnancy/baby prompts 😢
Right!? I pigeonholed myself with Preggo fics because that’s what I was asked for so much!! But I don’t mind 🤷🏻♀️
Send them all over to me and maybe I’ll write some again, pregnancy has somehow become my specialty 😂
what inspired you to start writing/posting?
honestly? it was reading other people’s fics! i remember being absolutely obsessed with all of @toevenexist ‘s amelink fics and some of @amelialincoln ‘s writing and I eventually started posting my own stuff!
thank you for the ask!
Well damn 🙈this is lovely! I’m so glad my writing was something that inspired you to write! I’ve been really uninspired for a year and to come back and see this is really special!! 💕💕💕
Hi! How are you? When are you going to post a new chapter of The Darkening? I miss that and I want to know what will happen
Hi! This would probably be one i’d come back to write! Thanks for reaching out, I’m glad my writing gives you some joy ♥️
🙋🏻♀️ hi. - can u write about Link being overprotective with Amelia and telling her to take it easy and everything like In the last stage of her pregnancy thanks 🌿
Slow Down - Amelink
Hi! Could you write one about Amelia exhausted? Like she’s in her third trimester and she’s always sleepy and like two steps and she’s already out of breath, like exhausted and Link like telling her to slow down? And also waddling or something like that? Thanks. Stay safe -Anon
I would like to apologise to both of these anons for how long it took me to write this, I made a few attempts and thankfully reached a final product after a lot of ice cream and some mini stress moments. I hope that it's okay that I joint them seeing as they were very similar and feel free to prompt me again when I open my ask back up. Thank you for the prompts...enjoy...
“She’s waddling” Tom commented in a deadpan voice as Amelia walked away from her and Link, she was trying to storm off after Tom declared that he was doing the back to back surgeries she’d scheduled, Link only nodded relieved that Amelia didn’t turn around and see him as she called out her parting words, telling them to stop managing her “I now get why you asked me to do the surgeries, shouldn’t she be at home with you pampering her?”
“Yes, yes she should but you try be the one to tell her that” Link shook his head and Tom let out a small laugh knowing that any attempts to tell Amelia to stop working would fall on deaf ears. Amelia Shepherd was a force of nature, Link had known that from the first moment that he met her and he had thought that her pregnancy would slow her down but the further she progressed in her pregnancy the more she had seemed to speed up “Anytime that anyone suggest she takes a rest, she bites their head off. I feel like I’m fighting a losing battle sometimes, I just scared that if she keeps acting like she’s running out of time that she’ll tempt the fate”
“Amelia is smart, she wouldn’t push herself to the point of doing any damage” Tom told him, doing his best to sound reassuring. Tom had been in Link’s shoes before, chasing after a pregnant woman who refused to slow down but any memory of his son and ex-wife was too much to mention out loud so he decided not to overshare his own story with Link like anyone in the hospital usually would “You just need to be there to do whatever she wants or needs you too when she asks you to. Shepherd is growing a human and she needs you to support her, not start thinking you know what’s best”
“So, you think we should have let her do those surgeries?” Link asked, when he had seen that Amelia had two long procedures on the OR board he immediately found Tom and begged him to do them instead, Tom had been happy to do so but now Link couldn’t help but think that Tom agreed due to his love of cutting rather than his friendship with Amelia. It’s not that Link didn’t think Amelia was capable, but she’d spent the previous night tossing and turning in their bed as she complained about the baby resting on her bladder and he knew that she’d only spend the two surgeries feeling uncomfortable. Amelia was pretty annoyed that he’d gone to Tom behind her back, but Link was hopeful that in the long run she’d see that it was the right thing to do.
“Oh no, with the way her ankles are swollen she’d probably only be able to stand for half of one before calling me in” Tom shook his head with a smile “I’m just letting you know how to handle a stubborn pregnant woman”
-
“What’s wrong? What’s happened?” Link asked as he ran into the attendings lounge, holding his pager in his hand and a frantic look in his eyes. Amelia was alone in there, sitting with her legs up on the couch and an uncomfortable look on her face as she stoked her baby bump.
“My feet are killing me; I need a foot rub” Amelia groaned, she’d been sitting in the attendings lounge for nearly fifteen minutes but the pain in her feet had yet to subside which is why she’d paged Link, he was partly to blame for her current predicament so she knew he the solution.
“You paged me 911 for a foot rub?” he asked, his eyebrows almost reaching his hairline as the adrenaline he’d felt since receiving the page raced through his veins. Amelia nodded sheepishly and Link let out a breath that he didn’t know he was holding in “I thought you were in labour”
“No, my due dates not for another month” she waved her hand at him dismissively as he began to untie her shoes, something her bump had been preventing her from doing.
“I know that, I have it marked in every calendar I could get my hands on. Jo and Nico even have it marked it their phones” Link replied, he hated to admit that he was a bit annoyed at Amelia for not taking care of herself in the way he wanted her to but with Tom’s voice ringing in his ears, he did his best to keep his tone calm
“But we both know that only 4% of babies are actually born on that date and that over-exertion can speed up the process of labour” “Is this about me scheduling those surgeries?” she asked crossing her arms and fixing a firm glare on her face, this had been a debate that had been going on since she moved into her third trimester and quite frankly she hoped that they could put an end to it soon.
“I know that I don’t understand what it’s like to grow a person” Link stated as he rubbed her feet and avoided her question. “and I know that you would never push yourself to far on purpose, but things happen Amelia and I love you and this baby so much that the fear that anything could happen terrifies me. I just want to wrap you up in bubble wrap until you go into labour to make sure that you and out son are okay”
“You can’t keep us in bubble wrap forever though” Amelia objected and after a moment’s pause, her expression softened “I’ve spent some time in the lab and napped in between my many bathroom breaks, so you were probably right that I couldn’t have done those surgeries earlier. I’m just annoyed that you thought it was a better idea to go to Koracick and tell him to take over than tell me that you thought I was pushing myself too hard. I think I need to stop working so much”
“I’ve been telling you that for weeks Amelia, you’re pretty stubborn” Link countered and she couldn’t help but laugh as she agreed with him, she knew that she wasn’t the most co-operative person at the best of times but since getting pregnant she’d become even more set in her ways “I don’t want you to stop working completely if that’s not what you want but maybe lightening the work load wouldn’t hurt? I mean I’m probably not even half as exhausted as you and I’ve reduced my surgical load, I can only imagine that slowing down might help you feel less exhausted”
“Aneurysms and Craniotomies, I’ll hand everything but aneurysms and craniotomies over to Tom. Those are the shortest surgeries I do, and I still get to research but I will do so while sitting here with my feet up. That’s as much as I’m willing to slow down okay?” she asked and Link smiled, Tom had definitely been right about Amelia knowing her own limits and he was glad that the realization that she was doing too much had finally dawned on her.
“We’ll take it slow and easy together, god knows we’ll need to be well rested for all the sleepless nights that await us”
You know what's the most depressing in being a ff writer? Seeing 1000 clicks in your work and 0 comments or likes...does it mean you didn't like it? Or that you think it sucks? Thank you for requesting!! You’re so kind, and I hope all is well.
The two one-Liners requested:

Amelia and link got home from a long shift at the hospital. They decided they were going to take a warm bath, eat some pizza, watch some tv, and cuddle until sleep overthrew them. It had become a routine for whenever they needed each other, and it increased their emotional and physical intimacy.
Link opened the door for both of them, and Amelia sat the pizza on the kitchen counter. She looked around the place remembering the comfort it always gave her and she sighed. “Good to be back.” She spoke content, and Link went to the fridge grinning. He poured two glasses of sparkling water, and sat on the couch turning on the tv. Amelia made her way to the couch once again holding the pizza, and she overlapped her legs with his. Eating the pizza and watching a movie link found on netflix, they talked about work and anything else that came to mind. When the movie was finished, Amelia walked upstairs to turn on the bath water.
Link cleaned up, and walked up the stairs noticing all of Amelia’s clothes messily distributed on the floor. He picked them up one by one, laying them on his armchair, and smiled at her when he walked into the bathroom.
She was laying with her back against one side one tub, with her eyes closed. She looked like an angel with her short hair in a messy bun, and her tiny body descended in the water. “Hey, scoot over.” He chuckled, and removed his clothes. Amelia smiled lazily- admiring his body, then she moved so he could sit behind her. He threw his hands over her pregnant belly and caressed it, leaving smooth circles and patterns on her abdomen. Amelia hummed and Link kissed her temple, inhaling her sweet scent.
They showered each other and drained the water, not losing a topic to talk about. The couple continued with their night routine: Amelia taking off her natural makeup, and Link messing with her as she giggled trying to get away from him. He was tickling her sides after wrapping her in a warm towel, making both of them laugh senseless. He kissed her multiple times, and distracted her with his gentle playful ways, until he finally let her finish her task.
Slipping on a blue boxer, Link laid in the bed flipping through endless amounts of channels. Pretty soon Amelia opened the bathroom door that was connected to his room. she opened ‘her drawer’ , and found some pajamas she’d left from one of their past nights. She dropped her towel, and changed not even paying attention to link. He made a small space for her stuff, so she felt like she had a place to call hers- in his home. They were so comfortable with each other, and it was the most amazing feeling in the world.
Amelia joined him on the bed and sat down with her back against the headboard, much like her boyfriend was doing. She intertwined their hands, wanting to feel some part of him with her, and Link beamed. She’d been so focused wrapping herself in a blanket and staring at the tv, that she hadn’t even noticed the heart eyes he was making in her direction. She looked in his dilated eyes, and shook her head. “Is their a reason you’re staring at me? You’re missing a very important part, and I don’t want to rewind it.” She laughed, and Link replied with a kiss and the three words they recently started saying. “I love you.” He admitted pulling back, only to receive Amelia’s cocky, “Of course you do, I know.”
He frowned pretending to be upset, and untwined their hands. “what the hell are you doing, put it back.” she demanded, but Link stuck his hand under her small blanket. He pulled the covers, as well as her close to him, and Amelia resisted. “steal the blankets again and I’ll put my cold feet on you.” She laughed, noticing his puzzled face. “I can deal with some cold feet, I want to cuddle.” Link told her, but Amelia was playing him. “No blanket for you.” She mocked his frown, and Link squeezed her thigh. “You ass.” He laughed. “Yeah, an ass with a blanket.” She gloated, “Use the comforter, honey.”
She tried not to laugh, but Link reminded her, “The routine is warm bath, tv, pizza, cuddle, and sleep. Maybe not in that order, but I wanna cuddle.” He whined, and leveled. “here, let’s share the blanket.” He grabbed it again, and this time Amelia let him have it. They snuggled close together, and Amelia rolled her eyes, “I guess I kinda like you.” she confessed, but it wasn’t unclear.
“mhm, you love me.” Link laughed.

I hope I lived up, tell me your thoughts. You can spam the requests, don’t be shy ☺️

Birthday
Here’s a little thing I wrote about Link’s birthday. I used Chris’ birthday, December 22, since we don’t know Link’s. This is up on my ao3 too. Hope you enjoy it, and don’t forget to comment any suggestions you have!
——————————————————————————
Link woke up to the sound of the door opening, seeing his girlfriend standing at the end of the bed with a tray of food and a smile on her face. “Happy birthday!” She whispered-shouted, handing him the tray. He sat up in the bed and took it from her, his grin wide. Amelia crawled into the bed next to him, snuggling into his side.
“Thank you,” he said, wrapping an arm around her. Link picked up the fork, taking a bite of the pancakes she had made for him.
“So, we have plans today.” He looked down at her and raised his eyebrows. “I made us reservations at Angelini’s for 7, and the rest of the day will be spent here, in bed.”
“That means you’re going to have to get dressed, in actual clothes,” he stated, knowing she had been living in pajamas and sweatpants for the past month. Amelia rolled her eyes.
“I know, but I’m willing to do that, for you.” He smiled. “Also, I have a gift for you.” She moved out of his embrace, slowly standing up and heading to the dresser. Her hands wrapped around her stomach as the drawer opened, revealing a neatly wrapped box. Amelia padded back over to the bed and held it out. “I know it’s not a lot, but it means something.” Link carefully peeled back the wrapping, pulling out a leather box. He opened the lid.
“A watch?” She nodded, sitting down next to him.
“My mom got my dad a watch on his birthday, before he died. And uh, I want you to have one, too. It’s obviously not the same, but it means a lot in my family.” He moved the tray of food, holding his arms out wide. She leaned into him.
“Thank you, Amelia,” he whispered, kissing the top of her head. “I love you.” She sighed in content.
“I love you, too.” Amelia lifted up her head to look at him. “And I think when we have our boy, and he’s a bit older, we could give him one too. Make it a family thing.” She placed emphasis on the word family, smiling shyly.
“I would love that.”
—————————————
Amelia stepped out of the bathroom shyly, brushing a strand of hair behind her ear. She was wearing a form-fitting black dress. Link let out a breath when he saw her.
“Wow,” Link exclaimed, looking towards her. “You look incredible.” She blushed. Amelia stepped towards him, smiles covering both of their faces.
“You don’t look too bad yourself, mister.” She reached up to tie his tie.
“I can do that, you should go get your shoes on.”
“Well, how would you survive without a woman to tie your tie? It’s my duty.” She said with a grin.
“I’ve never heard that one before.” Link pulled on his suit jacket, turning back to the mirror.
“It’s only in like, every movie.” Amelia stood up on her tiptoes to kiss him, her arms wrapping around his neck.
“As much as I love this, and you, we have to get going.” His voice was soft as she pulled away, pouting up at him.
“I know,” she sighed, grabbing his hands from his side. “Okay, let’s go.” She tugged his hand towards the door, leading him down the stairs of Meredith’s house. They said goodbye to the sisters in the living room, heading towards Link’s car in the driveway.
“When did you get this dress? I’ve never seen it before.” Amelia looked up at him as he opened the car door to her side before heading to the driver’s side. They got in and buckled their seatbelts.
“Last week. Meredith took the kids out shopping and I went with because I had the day off and was bored out of my mind, and she practically forced me to get some clothes that weren’t three sizes too big. Also said I had to get something nice for your birthday.” He placed a hand on top of hers on the console of the car.
“Sounds like torture.”
“It really was, but I like this dress. And she said I can have all of her old maternity clothes, so I probably won’t have to buy anything. My old clothes officially don’t fit me anymore.”
“Is that why all of my t-shirts are gone?” She nodded.
“They’re comfy, they smell like you and I don’t have to go out and buy anything. It’s perfect.” Amelia looked out the car window, settling in the car seat with a hand wrapped under her belly. “I can give you back all of your t-shirts as a birthday present, if you’d like.” He laughed.
“You keep them. You’d just steal them back, anyways.” Amelia grinned at him as he pulled into the parking lot and parked the car. She opened her door and jumped out of the car.
“Finally. I’m starving. Baby is starving.” Amelia moved around the car to loop her arm through his, her head leaning against his shoulder.
“Well, let’s have dinner, then.”
—————————————
Amelia laid back into the bed, sighing and curling into Link’s body next to her. “Thank you,” she whispered, nuzzling her face into his chest. He wrapped an arm around her body and pulled the sheets over them.
“Thank you, for the best birthday I’ve ever had.” She lifted her head up to kiss him.
“It’ll be better next year,” she teased, playing with his fingers. “We’ll have another person to celebrate with.” Link grinned widely at her comment.
“I love you. Both of you.”
“I love you,” she responded, staring into his eyes. The silence of his apartment settled between the two, just the light rustling of the sheets and comforter over them. She soon fell asleep against his chest with his hand stroking her hair. Link sighed contently, allowing himself to settle and fall asleep with her in his arms.
👌🏻Love this 💕
Can u write something about Amelia struggling with her pregnancy, like waddling difficulty to sit down sit up and all those kind of things? Thank u
A/N: Hi! I know this was requested on my Ao3 a bit ago, sorry for the delay! I hope you enjoy this!
---------------------------
Amelia groaned as she stood up, her back had been hurting all day and she was more than ready to go home and collapse into her boyfriend’s arms. She was meeting him in the lobby in five minutes and had to stop in the lounge to grab her bag first. After some time of struggling down the hallway and into the elevator, she eventually opened the door to the lounge and found Link sitting at the table. He smiled widely at her.
“I figured you’d be a little late so I came here to meet you.” He stood up, picking up her bag and carrying it.
“Why would I be late?” Link showed her his phone screen.
“Well, it’s 7:03, and we were going to meet in the lobby at 7. You’re waddling all around the hospital, Amelia.” She pouted and crossed her arms across her chest.
“It’s not my fault, if anything it’s your fault.”
“Your waddling isn’t a bad thing, I actually think it’s pretty cute.” She smacked his arm.
“It’s not cute, I’m fat and huge.”
“No, you’re pregnant. This is normal when you’re 35 weeks.” He wrapped an arm around her waist, guiding her out of the room and down the hallway. “How are you feeling?” She leaned against his body and looked up at him as they entered the elevator.
“Tired. My feet hurt, my back hurts and I just want to lay down.” Amelia sighed.
“How about when we get home, we take a nice bath and then I can rub your feet?” A smile spread across her face.
“Yes, please.” Their hands interlocked. “You’re like, the best boyfriend ever, you know that?” He laughed and dropped a kiss onto her forehead.
“Only for you, Amelia.”
---------------------------
Link but his hands on her waist, helping her to sit down in the bathtub. She leaned against Link’s body and wrapped his arms around her. Amelia sighed contently and relaxed her body.
“Mm. Thank you.” He moved his hands to her shoulders, rubbing the muscles as he felt the tension she was holding.
“I don’t think it’d be a bad idea if you took a lighter schedule at work. So you’re not on your feet as much and you don’t have to hurry around the hospital.”
“I know, but I like working. It’s like, my happy place.” Link wrapped an arm back around her body and pulled her closer.
“You’re in pain, Amelia. I hate to see you so exhausted. Plus, the due date’s getting closer. Carina did say he’d probably come early.”
“At our check-up last week, she said we still had a few weeks. I’ll be fine, Link.” She sprawled her hand over her stomach, lightly rubbing up and down. “I have tomorrow off and I’ll take it easy, I promise.”
“How’s he doing?” Amelia shrugged.
“He’s calm now, so he’ll probably be kicking when I try to sleep.” She laid her head back against his chest as he brushed her hair from her face. “He’s learned to not bug me as much during the day though, which is good.” Link placed his hand over hers.
“He’s a quick learner already!” She laughed softly. Silence settled around them, Link’s soft humming lulling Amelia to sleep. After some time, he looked down to see her eyes fluttering closer. “Do you want to go to bed?” He whispered, pulling her hair back behind her head.
“Yeah, help me up please.” Link supported her with his hands, watching as she slowly stood up and got out of the bathtub, wrapping herself in a towel. “Can you go grab me one of your shirts?” Link smiled and got out himself, wrapping another towel around his waist. He returned shortly after, a black t-shirt balled up in his hand.
“Here,” he handed it to her, pulling his boxers on and dropping his towel. He held out his hand for her, pulling her towards him. He placed his hands on her waist as she stood in front of him, steadying her as she walked out of the bathroom and down the hall to their bedroom. “Do you want that foot massage I promised?” She nodded as she laid back onto the bed, kicking her feet up into his lap as he sat down. He took her foot and rubbed it, watching as she sighed contently and relaxed into the pile of blankets under her. Her hands splayed over her bump, rubbing up and down.
“I hope he comes soon. I’m getting impatient.” Link smiled over at her, switching the foot he was rubbing.
“Me too, but I don’t feel like we’re ready yet, Mia.”
“You never feel ready, it wouldn’t be parenting if we were ready.” He set down her foot, collapsing next to her on the bed.
“I know. That’s what scares me.” Amelia rolled onto her side to face him.
“Being scared is good.” She grabbed his hand and intertwined their fingers. “You’re going to be an amazing dad, Link. You’re already so amazing to me.” He slid his other arm under her head, his arms opening for her to lay against him.
“Amelia, we both know that being a good parent takes more than being a decent person.”
“I know, but you’re not just a decent person. You’re one of the best people I’ve ever met. I also know it’s terrifying when you’re thinking about being a parent, I’m feeling the same things. But if I can do it, so can you. And we’re not going to be like our parents were.” She left his embrace for a second, switching off the bedside lamp.
“I guess.” He wrapped his arms around her, tighter. “Let’s go to sleep, Amelia.”
“No, I wanna stay up until you aren’t as worried.”
“I’m always going to be worried. But, you can help some of that worry by going to sleep.” She lifted his hand up, placing a soft kiss on the back of his hand before setting it back down.
“Goodnight. I love you,” she whispered, her body already settling and falling asleep. His soft response was the last thing she heard before she drifted off that night, wrapped in the arms of the love of her life.
So cute 🙊🙊😩💕👌🏻
Hurt
A/N: Hi everyone! This was a request on my ao3 a while ago. I hate to say this but updates will probably be a bit slower in the upcoming days, I have a big research project due and I have to prep for auditions, but keep sending prompts and requests! I promise I will write each one in the near future. Thank you so much for all of the support, it truly means the world.
———————————
Amelia slowly walked down the stairs towards the ER, an arm clutching her stomach as she winced in pain. She was silently praying that nobody would come down the stairs and see her like this. By the time she reached the bottom, her small figure was leaning against the wall, a hand reaching into her pocket to grab her phone. She clicked Link’s contact open and called him, breathing heavily with each ring of the phone.
“Amelia? What’s up?”
“Can you-can you come and meet me in the stairwell? I don’t know what’s happening but everything hurts and I don’t think I can walk to the ER.”
“I’ll be there in a second,” he said, clearly beginning to run down the hallway. After what felt like an eternity to her, the door opened, revealing a concerned Link. He noticed her sitting on the floor, curled up into a ball. “Oh, Amelia.” He rushed over to her, crouching down. “Let’s get you to the ER and find out what’s happening.” She quietly agreed, looking into his eyes.
“Link, what if-what if I’m-”
“Don’t think about that. We’ll figure out what’s going on.” He reached an arm under her legs, using the other to support her back as he picked her up. Amelia buried her face in his chest, hoping to avoid contact with anyone she knew. The loud noises of the ER flooded her ears, hearing Link ask for a room. The next thing she felt was the cushion of the bed below her and Link’s hand grabbing hers. “Amelia, Teddy’s gonna come and check on you, okay?” The brunette nodded slowly and gripped her boyfriend’s hand tighter.
“Hey, Amelia. What’s going on?” She looked up at the trauma surgeon.
“I’m uh, 9 weeks pregnant, and my stomach hurts a lot.” Teddy smiled down at her and pulled out the ultrasound machine.
“Have you had a scan yet?”
“She did, last week. Everything was fine,” Link spoke up, his face covered with worry.
“Where does it hurt?” Amelia pointed to her stomach, cringing as Teddy pressed down in that area. “I’m gonna take a wild guess and say it’s your appendix, have you had it out?” The neurosurgeon shook her head. “I’m going to do an ultrasound, now. We can see if it’s your appendix and also check on the baby. Can you lift up your shirt?” Link helped his girlfriend to roll up her scrub top, exposing her small stomach. “This will be cold.” Amelia winced as the gel was placed on her belly, watching as the probe spread the gel around.
“Is everything okay?” Amelia’s voice was soft as she asked, watching Teddy’s face scan the screen.
“Baby looks perfectly fine to me, it’s definitely your appendix. We can get you in surgery soon.”
“And that’s safe for the baby?” Teddy looked up at Link and smiled.
“Perfectly safe. I’ll have Carina stop by first and make sure nothing’s wrong, but I can get someone to do your surgery today.” Teddy brushed Amelia’s arm, letting her know everything would be fine. “I’ll be back in a minute. Hang in there.” Amelia turned to look at her boyfriend as the other doctor left the room, Link’s free hand moving to rub softly up and down her cheek.
“This is good, it means you’ll feel better soon.”
“Make sure they don’t give me any pain meds, okay?” He nodded. “And you’ll be there, after surgery?”
“Of course.” The doors opened, Carina walking through.
“So, what happened?”
“She was having some stomach pain, it’s her appendix. We just want to make sure everything’s okay with the baby, too.” Carina turned on the ultrasound machine and moved the wand across Amelia’s stomach.
“Everything looks perfect. Baby is all good. I will come after your surgery and check again to be safe, okay?” She wiped off the machine, putting it back against the wall. They thanked her, watching as she walked out just for Teddy to walk back into the trauma room.
“Alright, you’re getting the best. Bailey’s gonna do your surgery. She’s waiting upstairs.” Amelia looked up at Link, her hand moving up to his cheek and pulling his face down. She kissed him quickly before smiling at him.
“I’ll see you soon.” He laughed softly, kissing her again.
“I’ll be there when you wake up.” The nurse unlocked the gurney, pushing it towards the out of the room. “Bye, Amelia!” The gurney was pushed towards the elevator as Teddy walked with the side of the gurney, holding Amelia’s hand to comfort her. When they arrived at the elevator, they stopped. Teddy looked down at her.
“I’m gonna leave you here, I have to head back to the ER. I’ll make sure Link doesn’t freak out too much.”
“Thank you, Teddy.”
“Of course. See you after surgery, Amelia.” The brunette waved goodbye to her friend, watching as the elevator doors opened in front of her as they headed towards the OR floor.
———————————
She woke up to see Link sitting at her bedside, a smile spread across his face. “How’d it go?” She asked, her voice quiet as she took in her surroundings.
“It went perfectly. Carina’s gonna come by and check on you in an hour or so, but you’re just fine.” He covered her small hand with his. “How do you feel?”
“Tired, and it hurts a little.” She looked up at the clock. “How long was I out?”
“Just a few hours. Bailey’s cleared us both to have the next few days off, so that means a lot of laying in bed and me taking care of you until you’re better.” She grinned.
“Like you don’t do that all the time.” Link laughed softly. “Thank you for being here, Link. And for saving me in the stairwell.” He leaned forward, placing a gentle kiss on her forehead. “Lay down with me?” He nodded, moving around the bed to climb in behind her. After adjusting the wires she was hooked up to, he slowly laid down, an arm being placed over her body and carefully pulling her closer.
“Get some rest, Amelia.” The steady beeping of the heart monitor beside the bed rang throughout the room as he watched his girlfriend settle, grateful with every her breath that she was perfectly okay.
First Day
“Good morning!” Link sang, holding the 3 month old in his arms as he walked into the bedroom. “Who’s excited for their first day back?” Amelia lifted her head up, groaning. She smiled at the sight of her son, sitting up in the bed and stretching her arms out to take him.
“I don’t want to go back. I want to stay here and snuggle him all day.” She wrapped her arms around her son, kissing his forehead and looking up at her boyfriend. “I just wanna lay here with you both. I just want to spend some more time with my boys.” Link pouted at her, sitting down on the edge of the bed.
“We’ll do that the second we get home. I don’t think Bailey will stand for having her best neurosurgeon out for any longer.” He met her gaze. “I promise it’s not that bad. I mean, it’s hard at first, you’ll miss him all the time, but being back in the OR and back at work is great. He’ll be right up in daycare and you can see him anytime you want.”
“But what if he gets sick, or he falls or something while he’s in daycare. We won’t be there to see him and hold him and tell him that everything’s okay, Link.”
“They’d call us the second anything happens, Mia. It’s their job.” She sat the baby down in her lap, looking into his blue eyes. “He’s in a building of doctors anyways. If anything were to happen, there’d be a million people who would jump to take care of him and find out whatever was wrong.”
“I guess.” She muttered, sighing. He looked down at his watch.
“We have to get going soon. I’ll get this little guy ready, and you get ready yourself.” Amelia handed him the baby, moving from out under the covers to stand up. She walked towards the dresser and pulled out one of her blouses that she hadn’t touched in what seemed like years. She pulled it on and replaced her pajama shorts with some dress pants, attempting to adjust to her reflection in the mirror. Link soon returned with a baby dressed in new clothes, cooing in his father’s arms. Link noticed her stillness. “You okay?” She turned around at the sound of his voice, a small smile on her face.
“I’ve been wearing baggy clothes for like, the past three months, I haven’t really seen how my old clothes fit. I’m not used to seeing myself without a bump.” He smiled at her, stepping towards her and holding out the boy. She took him and rested the baby on her hip, staring up at him with a confused expression.
“This is what you should get used to. Seeing this.” He stood behind her, wrapping an arm around her waist. She smiled in the mirror, leaning her head back against Link’s shoulder and sighing contently.
“I love this. I love you.” Her phone buzzed, bursting them out of their small bubble of happiness in their reflection. “That’s my alarm. We have to go.” She groaned, following him out of the bedroom with the baby still on her hip. After fastening him into the carseat, she sat down and buckled her seat belt. “Let’s do this.”

Amelia slumped down onto the bed in the on call room, laying back against the pillow. The door creaked open, a sliver of light peeking in from the hallway. “Hey,” Link whispered, moving towards the bed she was laying on. He sat down before lifting up the covers and sliding in next to her. “How’s your day going?”
“Daycare won’t let me see him again. They say it’s bad for the parents to come and go so much. I’m exhausted, and I miss my baby.” Amelia’s voice was quiet, clearly upset by her day.
“Yeah, they don’t let me come either.” He wrapped an arm around her, pulling her closer to his body. “Do you have anything else today?”
“No, just on call. You?”
“Same here. Wanna take a nap until one of us inevitably gets paged?”
“Yeah.” Amelia sighed, moving closer to him and splaying herself across his body, allowing herself to relax in his embrace.

“Hi. We’re here for Scout Lincoln,” Amelia said excitedly, shifting her bag on her arm. The daycare nurse nodded and turned around to grab Scout, helping the couple to check out. They signed the check out papers, listening to the nurse summarize their son’s day, not truly paying attention as both of them just wanted to see him. Another nurse approached with the baby in her arms, his small face lighting up at the sight of his parents. Amelia took her son quickly, giving him many kisses on his head and wrapping her arms around him tightly. Link smiled at them, holding out his hand for Amelia to grab with her free arm. “Hey, Scout. Daddy and I missed you today!” They stepped into the elevator, Amelia leaning against the wall and adjusting him on her hip.
“Do you want to pick up food or anything on the way home?” She shook her head, turning her attention to the boy in her arms.
“Nah. I just wanna go home and relax. We can eat after this guy falls asleep.” Amelia said in a high pitched voice, bouncing him up and down. The elevator door opened, the couple leaving and walking towards the car. They buckled him into the car seat, checking each strap a hundred times to make sure he was secure. By the time they arrived home, Scout was asleep in his seat. “I got him,” she whispered, jumping out of the car to grab her son.
“If we’re lucky, he’ll stay asleep.” Link whispered, watching as she carefully unbuckled the boy from his seat, gently lifting him so as to not disturb him. After walking through the door and setting him down in the crib, they watched his chest rise and fall, his slumber not disturbed by the movement. Amelia laid her head back against his chest, his arms wrapping around her waist.
“We are absolutely killing this whole parenting thing, Link.” He laughed softly, pulling away to tug her towards the door of the nursery.
“You know, he’s asleep. And he’s probably going to stay down. Which means, we have some ‘free time’ to do whatever we want.” She raised her eyebrows at his statement, a smile covering her face.
“Mm.” She laughed, following him into the bedroom, the two definitely taking advantage of their newfound ‘free time’.
Birthing Class
Amelia sat down in the chair, kicking her feet up onto the empty seat next to her and leaning forward to tie her shoes. She struggled to reach them as Link walked into the lounge, smiling at her before rushing over and tying her shoes for her. “How’re you feeling?” He asked, looking up at her with a wide smile.
“Tired. My feet hurt.” She pouted at him, leaning back into the chair. “I wanna go home and sleep.”
“Not today. We have the birthing class at 3, remember.” Amelia groaned, rolling her head back onto her shoulders.
“When I’m in labor, I’m not going to be thinking about my breathing, Link.” He lifted her feet off of the chair and sat down in it, laying her legs down across his lap as he massaged her calves. “We know how babies are born. We’re doctors.”
“Think of it for me, then. I barely know anything about it. I haven’t done any sort of OB rotation since I was an intern.” His pager buzzed, causing him to roll his eyes as he stood up. “I’ll meet you upstairs at 2:50. Take it easy, Mia, I love you.” Link leaned down to kiss her quickly before leaving the lounge.

She checked her phone, the time reading 2:59. Amelia took a breath as she walked into the room, not seeing Link anywhere. The instructor noticed her and smiled. “Are we ready to start?” Amelia shook her head.
“My boyfriend should be here in a second.” Amelia sat down on the mat, checking her phone every other second. After another minute, Link came bursting through the doors, still in his scrubs. He ran over to Amelia and sat down with her.
“Sorry, surgery went long.” The instructor smiled at them as Link kissed the top of Amelia’s head.
“Okay moms, lean back into your partners.” Amelia did so, laying her head against Link’s chest as his arms wrapped around her. She sighed contently at the familiar feeling of his embrace, her body relaxing against him. She could feel her eyes struggling to stay open from the combination of her comfort and the long day she’d had.
“Link, I’m gonna fall asleep,” she whispered, listening to the instructor as she told the moms how to control their breathing.
“It’s less than an hour-long, Mia. We can go home and nap after.”
“Mm.” The class went on, Amelia struggling to stay awake for the rest of the hour, Link nudging her every few minutes to keep her from falling asleep.
“Okay, let’s go home, Mia.” She sat up, taking in her surroundings as the other couples stood up. “Did you fall asleep?”
“Just for like, a second there. It’s over?” He nodded, holding out his hand for her. Amelia took it and slowly stood up while using his arm for balance. Link’s arm wrapped around her waist to support her.
“It wasn’t that bad, was it?” Amelia shrugged and placed a hand on the underside of her stomach.
“The other moms were annoying. They really think labor is going to be this calm and laid back thing.” Link laughed. “You too.”
“Amelia, I’m sure it’s not that bad-”
“Yeah, you don’t have to do anything.” They walked into the elevator, Amelia leaning against the wall and sighing. “Will you rub my feet when we get home?” Link smiled and nodded his head.
“Of course.”
