hello! aaa thank you so much! ////////////////// iâm so honored! ;////; Â Iâve been busy with college work but Iâm definitely going to be drawing SBAU again in the future! In fact, the Iâve been working on expanding the lore of SBAU (like a prequel kind of thing?) so Iâll be drawing that soon too!Â

but I love Simon because heâs an alien-enthusiast dork who records these crappy but hilarious documentaries on his own life (mostly about how he is, allegedly, a descendant of an alien civilization) and is notoriously bad with animals. On top of aliens, he is also an enthusiast of the loch ness monster and big foot, all of which he has plushies of in his room.
The world of StoryBook was created by a tight-knit group of people who bestowed upon themselves the name Fate Players. They created StoryBook for very much the same reason a group of friends would come together and make up an OU: It was fun and something they could create and build together as friends.
A lot of the rules and regulations that come with being a Fate Player come from precedent. The original group laid down rules: each person would have their own role, everyone would get a codename of Player _______, each person would have a grimmsblade, etc etc and these rules slowly became universal law for the Players.Â
At the beginning of StoryBookâs life, things were going well. Life was flourishing in the world the Players had made together and everyone was merry. But as time passed, working on StoryBook grew from a fun little thing to an obligation. Now that this world had taken on a life of its own, many of the Players felt a deep sense of responsibility for it, a need to help it continue flourishing like parents rearing a child they were never expecting.Â
And this took a toll.
Members of the original group began to gradually abandon their roles (for reasons ranging from boredom with their job to death at the hands of another Player). Of course, even as members were lost, replacements came in. It became a new rule that the roles established at the very beginning had to always be filled in order for StoryBook to keep living.Â
And thus a process called Player Select was created.
If a Player steps down from their job, they must choose someone to pass their role onto (and it cannot be another Player). Typically, Players would scout the world of StoryBook for Characters that would be good candidates for their job.Â
Once a candidate is found, the role of Player will be transferred onto them (the consent of the candidate is not needed for the transfer, it can be done against their will). During the transfer process, the memories of both parties will be erased in order to make the transition easier for them. And once the process is fully complete, the former Player will be demoted to Character and sent to live the rest of their life in StoryBook.
The new Player will quickly pick up on what they are meant to do (as itâs an instinct that is âpre-programmedâ into them). They will inherit the original Playerâs name, abilities, and grimmsblade (though its appearance may change slightly with the transfer). The former Playerâs guardian will disappear with their transfer and a new one will be born for the new candidate.
FAQ
1. Whatâs the difference between a Guardian and an underling?
Guardians are a necessary and required tool. They serve as the counterpart to the Grimmsblade: the Grimmsblade is the âpenâ that creates, the Guardian is the âeraserâ that erases. The creation of Guardians was also one of the original rules set down by the first Players and its pretty much tradition for every Player to have one.
Underlings are not a required tool and cannot erase things like Guardians can. So theyâre less important ; 7 ; Also Guardians are always created by their respective Players. Underlings can be either created or scouted.
2. Can a Player have more than one Guardian (or Grimmsblade)?
No.
3. Can two different people share the role of one Player? For example, two people being the Player of ~Happiness~?
No. There can only be one. ; v ; But if you really really want to have two people share one role, maybe try dividing that role? Like for example, instead of two peeps being the Player of Endings, break it up into Player of Good Ends and Player of Bad Ends (Player of Endings is taken btw). Or if you have an idea just let me know.
4. Can Players be killed?
Yes, itâs possible. But it takes a massive effort. Players cannot be killed or harmed with regular weapons. However, a Player can be hurt or even killed by a Grimmsblade. Take note, that youâre going to need more than one good hit to kill them.
5. Who were the original Players?
I donât have an entire roster of this on me but I do know that End and Rosalie are originals. There is also designs for the original Red and the original/former Eos out there.
6. Do Players interact with each other?
Yes. They have to in order for StoryBook to run properly! Cooperation and coordination with each other is a must! Players even get together every now and then and hold meetings to talk about serious biz!Â
7. What if a Player doesnât do their job?
They have to face the consequences. First of all, if things arenât working smoothly, StoryBook will slowly start to fall apart (think of it like a tight ball of yarn slowly being unwound).
Secondly, there is punishment. Usually a Player will be given warnings from the head figure, Player of Endings, advising them to get back to work. But if they refuse, End will have the trouble Player abducted and dragged to Fourth Gate for full punishment (ranging from a beating, memory erasure, or a full-on revoking of their position).
8. Who is End?
End is the nickname for the Player of Endings. Heâs the mysterious authority figure that watches all the happenings in StoryBook from his home in Fourth Gate. Donât worry, heâs pretty lenient in letting Players do their thing so you rarely hear from him. He only steps in during extreme scenarios that are potentially dangerous to StoryBook.
9. What is Fourth Gate?
Itâs the realm beyond StoryBook and only Players have access to it. âFourth Gateâ is a reference to the Fourth Wall haha
