Byakuya canonically plays some classical musical instruments, I think one of them was piano? so he'll be the pianist of the band.

Toko started playing the guitar to impress Byakuya (headcanon)

since she found out he plays a lot of instruments

so she was the main motivation behind the band

Makoto was forced to learn the bass and Komaru the drums so they could write rock(-ish) songs. Byakuya grew up with classical music, and Toko grew up hating music, but Komaru started introducing them to new genres, and I feel like Syo's love of vocaloid would have influenced the others quite a bit too. which lead them to basically recreating Leo/need
