#Kandovan #village is one of the world’s three rock-hewn towns, which is still functioning today. The #caves of this village resemble a gigantic termite colony and were formed by ash and debris from when the now-dormant #Mount Sahand #volcano erupted sometime in the last 11,000 years. Qur'an Gate is a gate at the northeastern entrance of Shiraz on the way to Isfahan. Built during the Buyid dynasty (949 to 983), the gate housed a handwritten Quran so that anyone passing from under the gate would be blessed by the Holy Book and travel safely.

The Fin Garden, which is modeled on the Char Bagh school, a quadrangular plan of Persian #paradise garden, was originally designed for Shah Abbas I. Water from the nearby Soleymaniyeh Spring flows into several pools used for watering the garden's extensive orchards of 579 cypress and 11 plane trees. Golestan Palace or the Rose Garden Palace is a masterpiece of Qajar era crafts and architecture. The complex consists of 17 palaces, museums, and halls, which were mostly built over the two centuries of Qajar rule. Takht-e Marmar is the magnificent marble throne sitting on a terrace in front of the complex, which consists of 65 pieces of marble.

Located nearly 600 meters from the Tomb of Ferdowsi, Harounieh is the only surviving monument from old Tous. It is believed that this magnificent 15th century monument, which has Azeri architecture, was once a Rabat or a mausoleum. The building is constructed entirely of brick and has no decorations aside from its baroque stucco reliefs.

The ancient city of Tous is the eternal resting place of the most influential of Persian poets, Ferdowsi (940 -1020 CE). Known for his masterpiece Shahnameh, which recounts Iran's mythical and historical past, Ferdowsi’s tomb has been built in the Achaemenid style of architecture and resembles the tomb of Cyrus the Great in Pasargadae.
