Check out our newest addition of SF-made apparel: graphic tees by Varon Andel.
What’s so cool about this line of tees is that they are screened from original 35mm photography taken by the designers in San Francisco. From the typical Castro bulldog, to graffiti art, to musicians playing live - Varon Andel tees are totally ONE OF A KIND!
We especially love this tee because it was taken right here, in the Castro! Oh… and also because we love dogs.

Song 18 of my infinite playlist..."A Smile That Explodes" by Joseph Arthur.
In 1996, Peter Gabriel's A&R associate Harvey Schartz presented Gabriel with a demo of Arthur's first EP, Cut and Blind. Gabriel and Schwartz arranged a live audition at The Feznightclub in New York City, and Arthur flew up from Atlanta. The night was a success; not only was Lou Reed a guest in the audience, but within a few months Arthur was officially signed, making him the first American recording artist signed to Gabriel's label

Dry County by the B52's
Named for the hair style that is named for the airplane. The "B-52" hair-do looks like the prominent nose of the B-52 bomber which was the latest and greatest during the sixties.

Title And Registration by Death Cab For Cutie
As some Beatles fans know, there was a "Paul Is Dead" conspiracy in the mid sixties, in which the Beatles allegedly replacing Paul with an imposter that had won a Paul look-a-like contest. Anyway, according to the conspiracy theory, the Beatles would give the true fans all kinds of lyrical (and otherwise) hints and clues. "Death Cab For Cutie" was a song performed in Magical Mystery Tour as one of these hints, in that Paul was "the cute one". And that the night he died, he was in a car accident outside London with a cab.

Song # 15 of my infinite playlist...Suedehead by Morrissey
This song is also the subject of an argument between Ryan Adams and David Rawlings on the opening track of Adams' album Heartbreaker, entitled "(Argument with David Rawlings concerning Morrissey)". Rawlings claims the song is found on Bona Drag, saying, "No, Bona Drag baby!"; Adams, however, corrects him, noting its original inclusion on Viva Hate(even though it did subsequently appear on Bona Drag too). Rawlings incredulously defends his position while Adams mistakenly cites the track number for "Suedehead" as track 6 on Viva Hate. Adams subsequently bets Rawlings five dollars, with Rawlings saying, "I'll take that bet"; Adams replies, "OK, it's on there". The sleeve notes to Adam's follow-up album Gold thank Rawlings followed by "(F.Y.I., I won the bet)".

Can't Hardly Wait by The Replacements
"Ashtray floors, dirty clothes, and filthy jokes"
They were initially named Dogbreath, but after a few drunken gigs in which they had soiled their name (a club owner apparently refused to book them again), they renamed themselves The Replacements (since they were "replacing" Dogbreath) in order to keep getting gigs. They are often nicknamed "The Mats" which is short for "The Placemats" which itself is a nickname for "The Replacements." Chris Mars later said in an interview that after he and Bob Stinson had left (or got fired from) the band, they briefly considered forming a new band called "The Replaced."
