My name is Enski / Token (Tumblr user @strifetime ), and I like having too many blogs!
Like my previous blog, this blog’s focus is stationery, inspiration, and positive life happenings. I’ve also included ‘study’ because I’m back in school (trying to get my Bachelors in Web Development) and I’m still trying to practice Japanese and French.
This blog is linked to my fashion/doll hobby blog (@spangler-kaiser) so if you get a follow from that account, it’s me!
It's a mid-year planner/journal review! 🎉 Not something I was intending to write up, but I've had some changes in my books and I might as well take a crack at going through them. ᕦ (ò_óˇ)ᕤ
First up: My Brownie Techou! Like I mentioned in my first review, I've continued using it for short, daily writing columns. There have been some blank spots, but those are a great way to use up tape. I've also been trying to alternate writing with my Uni Style Fit pen (that needs refills so the only usable color is black) and a few of my fountain pens. It's been really helpful when I look at past pages so don't gloss over entries because they're all the same color ink... ( ̄▽ ̄);;
My divination has not been happening so the monthly sections are really bare. If I can get back into the swing of it, I'll start using them again, but for now it is what it is! Maybe I'll just decorate them with stickers or something.
Next up, my Hobonichi Weeks! Nothing has really changed I think, except for slipping one of my Haikyuu pen cases over the cover so I can keep some Zebra Kirarich highlighters on hand.
It's business as usual!
And a new addition: a Jibun Techo Days + LIFE notebook for logging/journaling livestreams! This might be a little thought/info heavy because getting this figured out was a time. I got struck with the idea of a livestream journal after trying to remember different streams and streamers I've watched over the years (and fumbling). Then I asked myself why haven't I done something like this before?
Technically, I have! I attempted a digital planner on Goodnotes back in 2022~2023, but since then it's been a string of random tweets/posts/plurks.
At first I tried copying the layout of a Days in an inexpensive Benkaim planner. It was not a good fit and I learned that, even with a vertical hourly washi or hand writing times, I was not getting the look I wanted. It also wasn't a true Day-On-1-Page since Saturday and Sunday shared a page, and that was not good at all. o(-( I started using a little Chronodex circle after the tape ran out, which helped some! But with the lined pages + how I write it still wasn't the best.
After about 2 months in and enjoying the process of sitting down with a notebook to write livestream thoughts and happenings, I was able to get a Days! I did a lot of re-writing and got very settled into it. <3 The LIFE notebook was gifted by a buddy of mine, and I use it as an overflow memo section. The memo portion is where I can pour more feelings out onto the page--whether it's about a livestream or fandom happenings--and I can include little screenshots to keep "clips" from streams as well!
I'm super jazzed by this set up and will definitely keep up with it into the new year, for sure! I still use the Benkaim planner, too, but now for pasting things like tierlists or other little fandom games.
I'm also going to include a couple of notebooks I haven't been using as much as I thought I would. They're my Media (Books/Episodes/Movies) notebook and my "Life Admin" notebook. I don't keep these two as 'front and center' in my area, compared to my main 3, so that's a big reason why I haven't been using them a lot. And my media notebook especially hasn't been used in a...timely way? I end up writing short lists of "Stuff I've recently started!" weeks after the fact, and then go through a spell of ignoring my bag of books that need to be read.

And that's it! I wonder where the rest of this stationery year will lead me! (o゜▽゜)o☆
The new year is close and I figured I was due to try a planner/notebook review! I usually don't...think about how I did or didn't use my notebooks, but there have been some things that made me think 'I should write that down. I should keep track of that better.' (/▽\);;
To start, my Hobonichi Weeks! I use it for just about everything, from writing down appointments and errands, to keeping lists and passing thoughts.
I'm not too concerned about layouts or anything, but I think next year I want to start tracking repeated medications/vitamins better. 🤔 I don't use the monthly layout(s) at the front—except for remembering character birthdays (❤´艸`❤)—so I think putting stamps or some sort of indicator to remember might be helpful!
Next up, my Brownie Techou! It's gone through the most change this year. It started as a divination planner, where I would record my spreads and maybe do a small blurb about how I interpreted them, but I am not consistent on when I do card readings and even my should-be monthly readings have been happening more towards the end of the month (...speaking of (/ω\*)……… (/ω•\*) I need to do one before midnight, LMAO).
I did utilize one of the monthly layouts for the monthly readings, at least!
But around October I had started doing 'morning pages (columns)'. Some Tarot-Tube/Tarotube channels had mentioned doing a daily writing routine and their stationery tools, and of course, I wanted to try something new and appreciate an excuse to get back into past interests (fountain pens).
Due to the layout of the Brownie, you can either position the planner vertically or horizontally. I tend to place it vertically for the slimmer montly layout and horizontally for the weekly. I find the 'column' space works well for me (and then I flip it to be a 'row' to write for Sunday), since I don't really need to write a whole bunch in the morning? But, like anything, I forget to write in the morning so sometimes I write much later in the day. I did start adding timestamps of when I start writing and I want to keep doing that for the new year.
I did shift my divination recording to the larger monthly page. It's just the name of the cards, but maybe if I focus on specific decks per month then I'll include the deck names. 🤔 I think that might be better in the long run but we'll see!
Lastly, my Hobonichi Techo Original/A6! I was gifted this by a good friend and just had to figure out how to use it! 😤😤 At first I was going to use it for sometimes-daily writing, but after watching a video about setting up a "life admin" notebook, I decided to give that a shot!
The set-up is pretty basic, I would say? I have sections for: References, Inbox, Follow Up, Tasks, Projects, Future Tasks/Ideas. Stuff has definitely been written down, but the execution... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Sometimes I'm on top of stuff and sometimes I'm not, pffft!
The 'References' and 'Projects' sections have probably been used the most. When I know I need to write stuff down and don't want it to get "lost" in my Weeks it goes into this book.
I think for next year my main goal thing will be Actually Using this notebook! 🤣 This is a "it's not the set-up, it's me" situation, and I'm sure if I keep it nearby, write, and then Do My Silly Tasks, I will be better for it.
There are a handful of other notebooks I have scattered around, like my writing discbound, my reading/watching log, my gaming notebook, and probably 5 different sized 'catch all's. I hope that going into next year I can make the most of all of my books and stationery goodies, and it turns into visible momentum and productivity for me!
I love this journal so much. It's filled with a mixture of pretty purchased handmade paper as well as dyed and dried in the oven paper that makes it fluffy, crisp, and lightweight.
This is the most intricate binding I've ever done! I felt like crying as I saw the lovely pattern emerging.
Did I put that hole Ali reminded us over and over NOT to put there? Why, yes, yes, I did. So I planted a flower.
This is the August herringbone binding for the Hand Made Book Club. I wasn't sure I could tackle it, was slow going, but I did it.
That little gadget up there made magic.
I was happy to use a small portion of the giant roll of soft, leather-like vinyl that lives in my closet. I lined it with a heavy fabric to give it a bit more stability. It just happened to be Paris themed.
Flayon inspired tracker that I've been working on to try and get some healthy habits under control 😅 Not a lot of details so I can add them whenever (plus lack of skill 🤭)
I got both of my 2024 planners recently! I managed to order the Brownie during the presale period so I got the clear file folder behind it as a bonus 💕
I've been feeling like I should change how I use my planners, but I haven't really figured out how yet 🤔 Maybe I'll try to use them more freely instead of assigning specific information to them.
One of my newest covers! A de-ringed binder from snowlattes from their Alchemist Collection. I currently have an A5 Midori and Corocorokuririn notebook in there for journalling and goal planning/tracking. ("Life books" I guess? 🤔)
Another year, another Brownie Techou ordered (on time)! I still need to order a Weeks but that might happen next month. 🤔
I think I'll try to take a picture of everything for the new stationery year. I recently got an A5 Midori for a (now de-ringed) cover and I haven't started using it yet. S'probably a good time to take stock of what notebooks I have and what I use them for. 😅
30.1.2016 1.26 p.m. - 46/100 days of productivity - Panicking and trying to cram for a Finnish exam I have in two weeks… Seriously I feel like crying at the thought of it :(
Hope your day is better than mine! x
