04.06.2026—rainy study days. noah kahan is keeping me company right now, my sister and i are obsessed with the great divide
How was your experience at ANU? I'm thinking of doing a Masters or PhD interstate but haven't decided where. Obviously supervisors play a big part in the experience haha but just generally, what's it like in the ACT? Would you recommend the uni to others? :)
I had a pretty abnormal experience as I started at the ANU in Covid, but overall I’ve really like the rigour and content of all the degrees and courses I’ve done. I definitely can’t speak for all Departments and degrees though, as I’m in the School of Politics & International Relations. It’s been a bit chaotic the last few years (if you’ve followed the news then you’ll know, but basically lots of financial and leadership crises). But overall I really like the uni & my supervisors in SPIR are fantastic and incredibly supportive and understanding with my mental health situation and general health/disability issues. Canberra is a great place to live - bit cold in the winter, but great quality of life and very outdoorsy culture. Always something on in the community, but you do have to look for it, and there are always events on campus too (for both undergrads and postgrads). If you’re a domestic student, there’s loads of job opportunities too, in the government (both ACT & federal level) and at the uni.
All the best, hope this was helpful 😊
01.06.2026—as if it’s june?!?!? this photo makes it look like the weathers lovely here, but it’s actually been trying to throw a storm all weekend. australian winter is not for the week

02.05.2026—hello may!!! busy week with uni, and very strange weather. australia doesn’t really do autumn properly 🍂 🍁

23.04.2026—been sleeping quite weirdly this week, but have managed to be very productive and make lots of progress on my current draft
the aftermath of an overdue close reading essay…
17.04.2026—and we arrive to friday, the end of another busy week. we got a new kitten last weekend, named winnie, and she is so freaking cute, and creating all kinds of cuddles and chaos. drafted a really challenging section just now, and i think im making good progress with it. onwards and upwards
easter week'26 // no rest for the phd candidate
bad decisions have been made and procrastination is biting me in the ass, as usual. i never learn, do i? this has been a week of endless writing, sprinkled with some marking. i've my annual review coming up; trying my best not to stress about it.
writing is difficult and lonely work. my draft is a mess, but i am not going to think about that >.<
15.04.2026—studying using my new keyboard

08.04.2026—so in love with my desk set up, and very grateful to have it because my last living situation was genuinely awful. not the best weather today (it do be autumn/fall now), but that’s fine for the cozy indoor study vibes im going for
