JENNIFER'S BODY
2009, dir. Karyn Kusama
“is it wrong for me to write xyz in fiction?” even the most vile, most shockingly disgusting thing you can think of is not wrong to write about as long as it’s fiction. doesn’t matter how you write it. doesn’t matter if you romanticize it.
who do you hurt by indulging in fantasies that are not real? oh right, the imaginary and nonexistent people in your head.
who’s gonna arrest you? the imaginary and nonexistent cops in your head?
who’s gonna stop you? random strangers on the internet who can’t even actually do anything to stop you unless you care about them, their opinions and approval?
*if someone thinks the bad things you write in fiction are okay in real life because they’re portrayed as such in fanfiction, chances are that—with or without the fiction they consume—they’re already troubled and they need help. but their inability to separate fiction from reality is not your problem or business. you’re not a parent or a babysitter of a stranger whose existence you don’t know about.
being shy and having a high sex drive is the worst combo
You can ship every character ever, actually.
Yes, even an asexual character.
Yes, even an aromantic character.
Yes, even an underage character.
Yes, even a nonhuman character.
Yes, even a character in a canon relationship.
Yes, even a character uninterested in dating.
Yes, even a canonically dead character.
Yes, even an "evil" character.
You can ship every character ever, there are no exceptions. If you don't like that — scroll and block the people who do! Or, if you can't manage the very simple act of blocking/scrolling, just gracefully stop participating in fandom spaces.
ask me
Why do you not care if a lesbian character is shipped with a man?? Just say you're homophobic 🙏😭
Oh my god.. Fml.. Okay, let's use an example that probably is ass beause I suck with these things..
This is Stacy 🐇 cute lil bunny, Stacy is a fictional character and uh her creator says she's a lesbian 🏳️🌈
A fan of Stacy knows she's a lesbian, accepts that she's a lesbian, and has no issue with her being a lesbian. However, that fan thinks Stacy and Ben 🫏 (another fictional character created by the same creator) would make a cute couple, so they ship them together, make cute edits go goo gaga whenever they see them together ya knoww normal shipping behavior
Does a fan shipping these characters suddenly erase the fact that Stacy is a lesbian within cannon? No it does not
Does the source material suddenly stop existing? No it's still there still representing people
is anyone being forced against their will to change who they are because some stranger out there changed a fictional characters sexuality for fun? No and its very common for people to do that
The canon identity of Stacy is sitting exactly where it was before. All that happened is that somebody, in a fandom space, imagined a different scenario with a fictional character for their own enjoyment. Fandoms constantly create alt versions of characters with different relationships, different backstories, different personalities, different appearances, and different identities all for fun and to explore what could of been or just because they want to
If the person shipping Stacy with a male is like doing it out of spite due to homophobia then yes it would be a problem because most of the time they are also spitting homophobic rhetoric, denying the existence of her cannon identity/saying it's disgusting and all that stuff along with the shipping, but that doesnt make the ship itself wrong it makes them a bad person for being homophobic and hateful. But if they are just doing it because it's cute to them or they just wanna, who careeeessss do as you please you don't need a "logical" or "correct" reason to ship characters.. What you do in and with fiction doesnt make you a bad person ;P
You can be uncomfortable with it no doubt you dont have to like it you dont have to engage with it, you can scroll and look for media that does makes you more comfortable. But calling people homophobic for shipping fictional characters is immature.. •⤙•
▸ I DONT CONDONE ANY HARASSMENT TOWARDS ANYONE THAT IS POSTED TO THIS PAGE, ANTI OR NOT.

Monokuma's I'm scared of having to fight in my Danganronpa Ultra Despair Girls DR
Beast Monokuma: Have you seen the death scene of Komaru getting eaten whole???
Bomber Monokuma: Bombs.
Destroyer Monokuma: Flamethrowers hell nah
Junk Monokuma: Do I have to explain?
Big Bang Monokuma: Giant things are horrifying, also feel like destroying it would be satisfying though since it's Shirokuma controlling it and I hate that bitch
Wdym there's no sprite folder in Danganronpa so I can't draw a moustache on Celeste that only appears during a certain sprite :(
Happy pride guys, if it ain't already obvious I'm lesbian and iamvanosexual
this probably isn't a can of worms i want to open, but shipping aro/ace characters is not indicative of arophobia/acephobia/queerphobia.
the "excuse" that aro/ace people can have romantic and/or sexual relationships is valid, of course, but a more important point — these characters are not real. there is no orientation of theirs to disrespect, because they do not exist. they're not harmed or offended by people shipping them. if someone writes an asexual character having sex, that doesn't mean they're acephobic. these characters literally do not exist, the situations and relationships they're in do not exist. it is truly not this massive injustice, or this massive act of bigotry against the community. people can write whatever they like with whatever characters they like.
would accurate representations of aro/ace people being in relationships be nice? yeah. should more people explore these relationships in fiction? in my opinion, yeah. but sometimes people just want to write or draw porn with a character they like, and that's completely fine, too. fandom isn't activism, and fanfiction especially isn't.
disclaimer: op is on both the aromatic and asexual spectrum. op is also extremely sex-repulsed, and in a relationship.
Edit: I was right, people are getting very annoyed that I dared open this can of worms. Just block me if you don't like my opinion, guys! You don't have to be insufferable in the comments!
Thinking about Toko
