Hi there about your post on Ultio and Clementia ghouls, Rui was said to be in Clementia and also (could be wrong) since Clementia specialized in magic I think Shiki was in that dorm since when he’s mentioned it’s said he knows magic
Hello, Anon!
Who Killed Robin? Act II - Chapter 2
As Rui implied here: Clementia originally only had two ghouls一one of them was Haku and they both specialized in the same thing.
This other ghoul can't be Shiki, otherwise Haku wouldn't have to jump through the hoops to consult him via Rui. The knowledge gaps problem wouldn't even exist in the first place since they'd be housemates.
Ghouls' name theming...
Frostheim → chess pieces
Hotarubi → Japan's three sacred treasures
Obscuary → night/moon
Jabberwock → the elements (fire, water, wind; incidentally also the three possible attributes for the cards you have in-game)
Vagastrom → freedom (everyone's name has kanji that alludes to something that can freely roams in the sky: storms, birds)
Not sure about the rest... ( ´д`)💨
It's probably something that's influenced by the writers' writing style but I choose to interpret MC's character as a bit of romanticist because of how poetic she can be at describing things, haha.
I know you like rui/mc but what's your favorite platonic mc ships then?
Lyca&MC and Zenji&MC! (⸝⸝⸝´▽`⸝⸝⸝)
When the chancellor said ‘the ultio student and his ghoul friends’ does that mean there were more ghouls in ultio other than Enzo or that Irori was friends with clementia ghouls also?
Hello, Anon! So far the NPC ghouls we know are: Enzo Natori, Shiki, and Yamato (Inamori?). Enzo is confirmed to be in Ultio.
Who Killed Robin? Act II - Chapter 2
From this conversation between Haku and Rui, we know that there were two ghouls in Clementia who both specialized in the same thing一Japanese anomalies, I assume. Yamato seems to be related to Haku so I think this is a hint that Yamato was indeed the other ghoul of Clementia.
That means Shiki is another ghoul belonging to Ultio. It would make sense too why Haku was getting advices from Shiki via Rui, since Rui used to be in Ultio, therefore he's at least more familiar with him.
I imagine the timeline is something like this:
Haku and Yamato joined Darkwick and were sorted into Clementia.
Haku and Yamato tried to escape Darkwick? Yamato was later put in containment but Haku was allowed back on campus.
New academic year: Haku transferred to Frostheim, Irori joined Darkwick as Ultio's first year general student.
By the time Irori got admitted to Darkwick, there weren't any ghouls left in Clementia. So to answer your question TL;DR when Cornelius said "[Irori] and his ghoul friends" he most likely only referring to the Ultio ghouls (Enzo and Shiki).
Can you elaborate on Romeo searching for a cure? I might have missed that part
Hello, Anon!
Who Killed Robin? Act II - Chapter 11
So it wasn't really just Romeo. Hyde's mostly the one working on the cure (since anomalous biology is his expertise) but Romeo's the one who went on secret special missions to provide Hyde with field data and such.
They haven't explained much on what exactly Taiga's "little issue" is but it's probably related to his compulsion on eating anomalies. Might be related to addiction too since it strucked a nerve with Taiga when Hyde joked about it.
Hi i’m the anon who asked about the jiro timeline. Thank you for your answer. Unfortunately i’m still confused bc i can’t believe the clash only lasted for 1 month when it seemed to be a big thing (its literally called nairan in japanese and civil wars don’t last one months if you lived through any of it u know what i mean.) u could say nairan is just an exaggeration but it resulted in three defunct houses and humans removed from jabberwock so isn’t that a little crazy? As for the frankenstein stuff simply being rumors… well thats true but it’s not how writing really works... In S1EP7 we hear from tohma that jiro could be threatening frostheim students (as well as that he met naoki iirc) are those all just baseless rumors? Not to mention the snowflakes in his hair. From an artistic point his unifrom design alludes to a monstrous side or possibly a split personality that’s different from the patient he usually is. I agree with the fact that no ghouls seem to have beef with jiro tho which is surprising if he used to beat them up lol but maybe those ghouls basically fought with everyone and one of them didn’t matter… maybe he didn’t even fight them himself they just attacked him and his stigma worked so they dont blame him exactly… or it could be that he hasn’t encountered them yet like u said… jiro doesn’t have many interactions (we don’t even know how he refers to his senpais since the only character he ever called by name was yuri. We don’t know what type of honorifics he uses and all)
Things we are sure of their date are here
New ghouls in sept (kaito, towa?, yuri, mio) -> yuri transfers mid year -> zenji dies from a rogue anomaly -> clash ends -> tohma transfers in apr -> jin becomes a hikikomori after everything is finished -> year continues normally? -> haku transfers after his second year (jiro confirms that haku only came to hotarubi in his 3rd year)
Unknown is jiro awakening, tomura dying, clash starting, yakushima? haru transfer, dionysia desertion
Fitting all the events of the clash into one month is strange ngl. It’s hard to imagine being peaceful up until march where everything exploded then quickly healed in a month or so, especially that it left everyone so traumatized they refuse to talk about it. Every time i want to think about that era and analyze it jiro’s lore makes it confusing. Sorry for annoying u but i appreciate ur responses. Otsukaree
(Previous ask) Hello again, Anon!
Wdym Sekina-san deleted their Twitter account........ 💀
Mentioned that Tarou, Jirou, and Saburou are like the most Generic Japanese Names you can give your sons and
I wonder
Would that be skmethjng that happened if they were idk orphaned or something???
Born off record or they were found after some disaster that took their parents, too young to know their names and their names weren't noted anywhere, something like that. . .so the authorities just went 'First Son, Second Son, Third Son' in order and those were their names from then on. (Or they only had Zenji's name on record because idk of the three he was old enough for school, so they just continued the pattern. Something like thst where their generic names aren't necessarily a product of tradition but just. . .Default.)
Like we know they were super poor so like. Idk if 'orphaned and cared for by someone else or a temple or skmething' would be a possible backstory with them. Like zenji never mentions other family or anything. And jiro mentions never having cared about having a home or clothing or food so like. . .maybe they just Did Not Have One? No parents no family no home, but fortunately they were fostered or adopted out(and subsequently returned) together? Or just stayed wherever they were raised together as orphans.
Idk. I don't know the like. Protocol in Japan wrt Orphans That Have No Family Or Names or something haha it just occurred to me that naming your kids 'first second and third' could just be like. A generic thing thrown at them by the state or the hospital or something.
I mean yeah I got massive unsupervised children vibes from them but also. Kirisaki isn’t a super popular last name? so the Orphanage/Institution either had an epiphany or their last names remained.
or their parents just weren’t creative lol
in China big families will often assign numerical nicknames to their children for example 张三 (this is the Chinese equivalent of John Doe btw lol) means (literally) Zhang 3, or third-born child of the Zhang family
So I’m wondering if instead of having it be a nickname they made them like. actual names. and maybe they all had nicknames like Zenji colloquially.
it’s not super uncommon for parents to kind of give up naming their children something creative in a big family but it’s two kids.
naming them tarou and jirou feel like naming them Thing 1 and Thing 2 so.
if they really did end up in an institution that assigned them names i’m wondering how their last name survived if their first names did not 🤔
WELL YEAH OBVIOUSLY THE MORE LIKELY THING IS JUST THAT THEY JUST USED GENERIC NAMES FOR THEIR KIDS but i was just exploring another possibility lol they were most likely just extremely poor and/or homeless with either Traditional Naming Senses or they were. Not creative/lazy lmao. "We know we want more than one kid so let's just keep count of them."
But yeah my thought with them being orphaned was like 'whoever named them knew the family name but not the kids' names so they just kinda went "uuuh one two three okay done 👌🏾"'
As for how their family name survived my thoughts were mostly things like finding documentation in the wreckage or the neighbors knew a couple named Kirisaki lived there(but they didn't know the kids.) Also I believe there are like government records of people's addresses and you can get them from like city hall so. I imagine in a case like "yeah we found three young children here after this accident" or something similar they'd have to check the records of the address and family, see if they can track down any extended family to hand the kids off to. Maybe they insisted on home births and as a result slipped under the radar with their kids until they were discovered.
Zenji said he came up with his penname himself I believe! So I'm pretty sure that he wasn't Zenji before he became an adult. Plus in the flashback Zenji uses 'Jiro' to address Jiro, so they probably didn't have nicknames either.
I've talked in passing about my suspicions on the possibility that the Kirisaki brothers are orphans before so I'm glad that I'm not the only one who suspect that ahaha.
My theory on why the brothers' surname is "unusual" while their given names are super generic is that this is another Alan situation where the siblings got adopted by the Institute (after they became a ghoul?) and were given a new surname.
Also I wanted to pointed out that the Institute had somehow obtained the permission to cryogenically freezes Zenji's body instead of sending it back to the family for cremations.
Let's say the siblings still have parents/legal guardians, Darkwick still had to explain to them what happened to Taro and obtain the official permission for them to be able to keep his body instead of sending it back to his family for a proper funeral. This will comes down to how much Darkwick is willing to discloses to civilians (even if they're relatives).
If they're orphans, Zenji's last living relative would be Jiro so Darkwick only needed to get his permission. And considering how Jiro seems to hate Zenji, it's easy to imagine how little he care about what Darkwick wants to do with his corpse. "You want to keep that guy's body cryogenically frozen for a chance to revive him? ...I don't really care. Do what you want with his body. I have no brothers."
Elias: *cuts all the red strings of fate that connect MC to the ghouls except his*
MC: Huh? Is that... the sound of a bell tolling I heard?
Elias: Just the sound of (our) wedding bells, ahaha. ^_^
MC: Sorry, what?
Elias: Wedding bells.
MC: I'm... not sure if that's what wedding bells sound like...
Elias: Oh, don't worry your pretty little head over it, dear heart. ^__^
Wedding Elias card names only using 君 to refer to MC #whatdatmean
Rui speech bubble:
Irori's family name is Tomura, written as 十村, means "ten villages" which alludes to the fact that Darkwick used to consist of ten Houses and how his death is the tragedy that leads to the defunction of certain Houses一at the same time creating an even bigger rift between the ghouls and general students. In this essay, I will
Can I be a little un-woke and admit that I'm glad Irori is a boy instead of a girl like we all initially assumed thanks to the "Sleeping Beauty" case name?
Mostly because I feel like if they make Irori a girl, people will assume that there's some kind of romantic subtext that set off the Ultio ghouls and sparked the Clash. Not to disregard the possibility of romantic motivations completely even if Irori is a guy of course, but... sometimes people just can't be normal about men and women having a deep, meaningful friendship, y'know? It's one of my biggest pet peeve in fiction一discounting the friendship between men and women and only interpreting the feelings as part of a romance.
I know this is rich and may sound hypocritical coming from the guy who's crazy about all Ghoul/MC ships, but please trust me when I say that Ghoul&MC friendships are just as important and precious to me, hahaha. Maybe even more.
Who Killed Robin? Act II - Chapter 4
In English, Cornelius only referred to them as, "[Irori] and his ghoul friends" but in Japanese, he specifically described Irori and the ghouls' relationship as 親交の深かった[関係] which means "a very close, intimate friendship".
This, along with Alan and Elias's testimony:
Deadly In Love Act II - Chapter 19
One could conclude that Irori and the Ultio ghouls are very close and Enzo was particularly devastated because of the tragedy that befell Irori.
Pointing this out because I feel like the narrative seems to be pushing that this kind of close friendship between ghouls and general students is rare. Irori clearly didn't have any prejudice towards ghouls, seeing how he can endear himself into the Ultio ghouls' inner circle in the mere six months he's been attending Darkwick. And where did that get him? That's right: killed.
...So, what am I trying to say here? Well, honestly nothing much except for the fact that they keep vindicating Ed for believing that human and anomalies could never live together in harmony.
I’m very confused about the timeline from a jiro perspective. He said he woke up just before the clash, and it’s been mentioned that he was violent during the clash as a mortkranken ghoul who sent both general and ghoul students to the infirmary. But in 4/4 the day zenji died (see who killed robin pt 2) it seems like he was the last casualty and nicolas talks like jiro had just woken up. The title also says he’s a freshly awakened monster. Nicolas even says that jiro is a new student to darkwick?! So he wasn’t there when the new ghouls were assigned to their houses? And in the same flashback, it’s mentioned more than once that the clash is over. How does this work? The clash started bc an ultio student died, and jiro was one of the subjects. Here mid-year in april the clash is said to be done. Jiro is freshly awakened and a new student. The academic year starts in september. I’m confused when did the clash happen? How is jiro involved in all of this? How and why is he a new ghoul? So many questions… you made a post about it before so i decided to ask you
(Referring to this post) Hello, Anon! Below is my personal theory on what happened to Jiro in chronological order:
