'Sunsets are proof that endings can often be beautiful too.' - Beau Taplin After several months of hiking through the most incredible scenery, making life-long memories, and learning from the physical and mental challenges one faces during a thru-hike, I have parted ways with the PCT. Earlier on during the trek I was diagnosed with a brain mass that prompted me to reevaluate decisions regarding my health and well-being. While at the time I was determined to stay on the trail, I have since realized that my priorities have changed. I left the trail with many different emotions, but also with the strong belief that I was making the right choice. Like any rewarding and life changing experience, the PCT has given me so much more than I can even describe. I can say, however, that I am forever grateful for all that I have gotten out of it. This morning sucked. I got stung by 5 bees before we even broke camp. I was sore, miserable and dreaming of being anywhere that wasn't the trail.
