Serious Post

So, fun fact about me, I actually really hate conflict.

Dealing with the Silver v. Idia poll was so, so stressful for me. I didn't know what to do, or what was fair, or if I'd get personal backlash for responding to it. I was especially worried because it involved a character I'd made clear I preferred (<- world's #1 Diasomnia enjoyer right here).

Anyways, I've been suspiciously watching all my polls sense. But at the same time, I've really, really, really wanted to pretend it was all normal.

I'm pretty busy during the day, so I don't have time to monitor as closely as I'd like, but when I'd see an influx of new votes to balance the scales without any new interaction with the post, it's beyond suspicious.

But I really, truly didn't want to have to deal with doing this.

Luckily for me, I did get a very helpful anon in my inbox (whose messages I will compile below the cut) who did do the more tedious work of timing things, and found a consistent pattern.

So, here's the part I've been avoiding saying:

Leona Kingscholar will be eliminated from the tournament* on grounds of botting.

*he may potentially be removed from next year's as well just because I seriously don't want to deal with this.

I had leniency with Idia v. Silver because both sides were cheating and it was my first time encountering this problem. That is not the case here.

To the person doing this, I have to ask... Why? What do you hope to accomplish? I mean, getting Leona ahead, obviously, but why not do so legitimately? There are plenty of Leona fans in my reblogs and comments actually putting in the effort to campaign and show their appreciation for this character. And it does work, for the record. Votes and rates of engagement usually go up a little every time someone reblogs with even the simplest of propaganda. It's not an exact science, but at least it's honest.

Sebek will be moving on in the tournament.

Hi, so I'm a little concerned about the poll and hoping I'm just being weirdly paranoid, but I'm worried that someone's been quietly alt-voting for Leona. I've felt this way since yesterday, as I noticed when someone who liked Sebek reblogged the poll Sebek would get maybe a handful of votes in the thirty or so minutes after that as like y'know. New Sebek fan reblogged the poll, more people see it and vote etc, but then maybe ten minutes after that spike there'd be a Leona vote, then another ten minutes there'd be another vote and another, until the small lead Sebek had just gained essentially vanished. I was worried I was being paranoid, as surely it wouldn't only be Sebek fans following other Sebek fans so ofc Leona would get votes too, but it was just the strange consistency between these single votes, and the fact there was no other interaction with the post when Leona would get these votes (like no reblogs or likes or comments), that just made this uncomfortable feeling start to grow. It was still sitting with me this morning so I figured I'd watch the poll today and see if there was any merit to it and honestly it's just made me get more uncomfortable. Like for the past two hours that I've been watching it carefully, about every thirty minutes or so, Leona gets a vote. Like I know that's a small number of votes a fair distance apart, but it's again the fact it's so consistent and the fact it's been coming without any extra interaction with the poll that's making me feel weird about it. All four or five or these votes came without comments, likes or reblogs. They're not coming with a recent reblog either as the last one was from four hours ago, and I'm just really hoping I'm imagining it but I wanted to raise it so you could keep an eye on this as well, as it's really genuinely upsetting me to think someone's doing this again but in a way to purposely try and not get caught. Like there was a recent vote for Leona that broke that ~30 minute vote pattern, but it came with a like from a blog, so I know that was a real person interacting with it.I really don't like conflict, which is why I'm sending this anonymously, but I just wanted a second pair of eyes here and wanted to make you aware this could be happening.lo it’s the same anon that raised the concern, I’m back again with a heavy heart as I genuinely believe something’s happening. Honestly I’ve wasted a lot of time watching the poll today, I know it's a little sad, but it was genuinely upsetting me and I’m glad I started writing things down and kept writing them down after sending a message. I didn’t start recording properly until I got to work, but there’d been a vote somewhere around 9:30 for Leona without any poll interaction which is why, when there was a vote ~30 minutes later I started making notes because that felt really weird

Hello, this is the same anon that sent the anonymous message as I predicted it’d be around this time and it was which gave me enough backing something was happening to raise the concern[somewhere between me starting my first message and sending it around 12:15, there were two likes for Leona. There was a single interaction with the post, however, which was Like number 102]

12:40 – Vote for Sebek but there was Like number 103 alongside this[Predicted Leona vote was skipped here, most likely because the Sebek vote was too close and they didn’t want to vote immediately afterwards to not raise suspicion]

13:20 – Vote for Leona again around the next predicted time, again without poll interaction 13:25 – Vote, but uncertain who for as the percentages didn’t change. Again no poll interaction (double vote maybe to make up for the fact they couldn’t vote when that Sebek vote came in?)

13:27 – Vote for Leona, no poll interaction again (confident now the vote at 13:25 was for Leona and the cluster is in some weird retaliation to the legitimate Sebek vote) [Note: I checked the Leona Kingscholar tag in case someone posted propaganda to get legitimate votes here instead of reblogging, and these last three in a row were because of that, but there’s nothing here about the poll and the last thing posted was some art an hour ago]

13:40 – Another vote for Leona, again without any poll interaction, at roughly the same amount of time between votes as it's been for the past three hours. Sent this message to you because it was a punch to the gut at this point.If you'd like me to come out of anon to message you privately about this, please just make a post and I will do.

An aside: you gathered so much information here I feel comfortable just making an announcement.

Ok so this is starting to sound like some kind of stakeout, but I wanted to give you as much to work with as you could (and honestly just relieved I wasn’t insane, despite how upsetting it is seeing it written down) and I’m really sorry this is happening.

13:46 – Vote for Leona not following the usual pattern, but came alongside Like 104 so confident it’s a genuine vote for him13:56 – Vote, but the percentages didn’t change so uncertain who for. No poll interaction. Predicting another Leona vote between 14:10 & 14:20 as this feels like a more targeted push due to there being 0.8% between them now (Sebek was 2.1% in the lead this morning, just to put into perspective how insidious this has actually been). Don’t suspect they’ll vote on the hour as that’s too pre-planned and they’re trying to make this seem natural.

14:01 – Vote for Leona. I was wrong! They did vote for Leona on the hour, they’re really trying for that push to get Leona in the lead so they can go back to voting very occasionally and hiding that this happened. Again, as always, no interaction with the poll.

14:11 – Another vote for Leona, exactly ten minutes after the last one. Again no interaction with the poll.

14:15 – Surprise vote for Sebek, will also note there was no interaction with the poll to be fully transparent.* I suspect there might be a delay in Leona votes now because someone else has Perceived the poll. Next one is probably between 14:40 & 14:50 unless they're going to hold off until the next hour (so 15:10 to 15:20) to be extra certain they don't get caught doing this.

*this is fairly normal. Ghost votes happen occasionally. It's when they're timed and following a pattern that it gets weird.
