My experience over the past year has been overwhelming to say the least. I took leadership of a class of fifteen children and advanced their english level from bare minimal to now kindergarten-standard. Visited my family and got to know my roots better. Made cultural exchange with my students parents, and improved on my mandarin and cultural relations. Braved through death defying air quality and weather conditions. Met some amazing native homies who took me in as one of their own. Worked with some interesting people... Some are pretty awesome, others are unimpressively not by any means whatsoever. Perhaps one day I will relive the experience again. But as of today this chapter of my life is now fully written.

I panhandled a bit in Shanghai till I saved just about enough to fly back to Toronto on Wednesday. Score.

In Shanghai I had the pleasure, luck and opportunity of checking out the exclusively special Tim Burton exhibition gallery! Can't say it's a nightmare before Christmas as much as like Tommy in Wonderland.

Shanghai is this modern mosaic blend of crazy westernized commerce and institutions with old flavours of antique temples and pedestrian markets... here is a overpopulated grassroot market called the Old Shanghai (creative as hell)

For a score of time e people have asked when I'll ever grow up. And after a year of trying to find myself I can wholeheartedly say, never the fuck ever.

While i am enjoying a map of the 10,000 routes that run on Shanghai ' s subway system, I cannot wait to be dumbed back down to just three in few days when I gotta uhh, Ride The Rocket again.

I'm now in Shanghai, the holy fucking apex of western modernization here on mainland China! This will be my last tour stop for almost a year in China now, before I finally make my return to Canada on Wednesday. (at Shanghai 上海 外灘)

By the end of the last school day, while still on the height of schools pandemic spread of illness, nearly half of my class ran into my class and surprised me with voice recorded cards, drawings, sculptures and hugs. I was greeted with sadness as they asked for me to not go. I was so touched and had a hard time leaving my classroom even hour after work. Afterwards, I turned on my phone to see their parents posting albums of our whole year together with descriptions that brought tears to my eyes. Maybe I'm new at handling things like this, but I couldn't have asked for a more bittersweet experience. This class may have been my lifetimes pride and joy. But the best thing about teaching others is the fact that you inevitably learn something about yourself too -- and whether you like the lessons you've learned or not is an entirely different story for another day -- but for now I'm glad to have grown with my three and four year old partners in crime!
