View from Magdalen Bridge Ā // Oxford 2008
It snowed in the winter of 2008.Ā
Though it didnāt snow as much as it did later in 2010 - the year the Heathrow became temporarily incapacitated because of it and I spent Christmas in a nearly empty student hall - I remember the snow in January 2008 fondly.Ā
That was when I started my PhD, or as they always called it there, a DPhil. It was already my second year in Oxford. But I canāt remember if it snowed in 2007. Probably I didnāt really care.
Onto Magdalen Bridge // Oxford 2008
By all means Oxford is not a big city, in that it is really more of a town, but it does extend beyond the compound of old colleges and university buildings. I lived in Iffley/Cowley area most of my time there, which is south/east of the centre.Ā
Past Magdalen College and the big roundabout at the end of Magdalen Bridge, youāll notice the landscape begins to change quickly.
Footpath over a creek // Oxford 2008
Over Christmas last year, I found a stash of old negatives back from circa 2008, that I shot in Oxford. I then made low resolution batch scans on my Epson flatbed.Ā
I didnāt even apply sharpening to speed up the process, as my primary motivation was to see the images quickly. The crazy part was, after that, I subsequently forgot about those files for one reason or the other.Ā
That was, well, until now. It may be the nostalgia speaking, but I think I rather like the look of some of them.Ā
Long time ago // Oxford 2008
Really, a long time ago.
