COUPLE: Ocean Tribe x Desert Tribe [Tribes of the Ancient Builders]
____
"Ocean Tribe?" They could hear the whisper from their friend calling them. But the Ocean Tribe ignored it; they were too weak to speak up, nor could they move their body anyway. Their eyes glazed upon the ceiling of the underground city, and as their mind wandered just as deep as the city itself: What exactly had they gone wrong? Surely, it was their consequences back then of which then led to all this mess, right? But, they had changed, so what came? What happened? The Ocean Tribe couldn't know. All there was to do was to hope, to hope that the deities whom they had devoted their lives to would maybe hear their cries for help, and maybe their souls would finally be put to rest and be within the well. Oh, the Ocean Tribe could imagine it now. Wouldn't it be better for all of them to be put to rest? Like the Allays, they'd be freed, be carefree like the sweet Allays of Wellspring! No hunger, no more sickness to harm them, nor the Warden, nor the Wither, nor the...
"Ocean Tribe, please." Suddenly, they felt it, the touch of a hand on their face, to call them back to reality. And before they knew it, tears were dropping down their face without their realization. The Ocean Tribe was about to say something for once, yet, for some reason, they couldn't. They couldn't despite how much the need they felt to do it. Pathetic the Ocean Tribe was! Screw it! Continuing, it was no longer a touch of a hand, it was then slowly but surely changing into a hug, a tight hug that was.
"Please please please... Don't leave, don't leave me." The whisper of their friend came to them, then it turned into a sobbing, a quiet sobbing to make sure it was enough for the Sculks sensors to not hear them both. Yet, now their own friend was even more pathetic! Now they couldn't break down without thinking about the possibility of death when the Sculks sensors heard them! Screw it, screw it all! The hug tightened, but the Ocean Tribe couldn't care less. After all, wouldn't it be better for their friend to let it all out? They knew the Desert Tribe was stressed, stressed with literally everything that was happening right now. And the best they could do was to help them, by doing absolutely nothing.
"I'm sorry, I'm so sorry for putting us into this mess. We're idiots—I am an idiot for hurting you, for hurting us." And the whisper kept on continuing, but on the Hosts would the Ocean Tribe be able to hear it all! Their ears started to deaf due to the hunger. With just a movement, their body would ache, but for some reason, it didn't stop them from finally hugging back the Desert Tribe. The Ocean Tribe patting their friend's back as a reassurance, and maybe as a comfort, too. Maybe it did work. They could hear the Desert Tribe's sobs start to quiet down, but not gone completely. The broken hug was also the moment they put their hand on the Desert Tribe's face, to wipe off their tears. What a crybaby, it was as if they had died! Silence again filled the room. Now all one could hear were the sounds of dripping water from somewhere far away, and their breathing all together. They put their foreheads together, and without a single word coming out of their mouths, it already felt enough. They had each other, and it was enough. Suddenly, the Ocean Tribe maybe didn't feel the need to be in the Wellspring. At least, for now, this was better.
"I won't go anywhere. Never. Don't worry."
Today was a good day for the both of them.
