like most things in this fandom, the answer really depends on how you personally view louis’ online behavior.

for those who don’t believe L sends any kind of message through his public social media (which is totally fair and valid) — the most likely explanation is simply that he’s enjoying a bit of GTA in his downtime. the timing of the follow and the post is probably just a fun coincidence.

but for those of us who do believe L sometimes uses subtle signals to point us toward things he wants us to notice, this follow feels interesting. especially because it would have gone completely unnoticed by casual fans. it’s the kind of detail only the people who track patterns (typically larries) would even catch, and that makes it feel a bit like a quiet nudge.

considering the timing — just two days after the official announcement from lthq about the new discord — and the fact that the rockstar post specifically references their official discord server, the connection seems worth noting. especially after recent fandom discourse about whether larries are welcome in the new space. this follow could be his soft way of saying, "you’re paying attention. keep doing that." or it could mean absolutely nothing.

as always: if you’re joining the new discord, be respectful. L's private life and larrie-related discussion should not be brought into that space that is supposed to be about his career. that’s not what it’s for, and we all know better.

Hello, I sent you an ask about harry raising flags and why he should be more brave and take a political stance because of his public image. I was interested in your view.

hi anon! thank you so much for your patience — i promise i wasn’t ignoring your ask. i just wanted to take my time and really sit with it before responding, because it’s a big, complicated question… and one that’s often been used unfairly to weaponize criticism against H, sometimes in ways that feel less about holding him accountable and more about discrediting him completely. so i want to answer with care.

context of your original ask for others: Hi since it’s pride month, I wanted to ask you: do you think raising rainbow flags counts as a political stance? And don’t you think it’d be nice if H did more for the community? I mean, with the flags, he kind of does the same thing with country flags. And just waving a rainbow flag doesn’t feel like enough if he’s not explicitly talking about it or showing his support in a more direct way. With L, I get it—his public image is totally different. But H's whole image is kind of built around that, you know?

you’re right — H’s image is very much tied to ideas of openness, pride, and inclusion. and you’re also right that waving a rainbow flag on stage, while meaningful to many, doesn't always feel like enough, especially when we’re living in a global moment where queer lives and rights are actively under threat in many places.

but here’s the thing: H has never operated outside of the machine. since he was a teenager, he's had to navigate the entertainment industry under extreme scrutiny — not just as a member of 1D, but as the face of it. his image was the most marketable, the most "palatable," and that came with a crushing amount of pressure. anything he did or said reflected not just on him, but on the band's brand, their profitability, and the careers of hundreds of people behind the scenes. (yet, even with that pressue and being so young, he still wore the jersey of the first openly gay NFL player in support, waved rainbow flags, etc.)

image management is a real thing. in the world of pop stardom, everything — from what you wear, to what you say, to what causes you align with — is meticulously considered. not always because the artist doesn’t care, but because teams (label, management, PR, legal) have to constantly assess risk. does this statement alienate a portion of your fanbase? does it hurt tour sales in certain markets? does it violate a clause in a brand deal? is it going to get distorted by tabloids and used against you?

and when it comes to queer issues, the double bind is even more intense — especially for someone like H, whose own identity has been the subject of speculation for over a decade. if he says too much, it’s “confirmation.” if he says too little, it’s “cowardice.” he is in a lose-lose situation, no matter what.

and yet — he has supported the community in more tangible ways than people realize. here are just a few examples (all publicly documented):

his tour raised over $6.5 million for various charities — many of which were queer-focused or queer-affirming.

he’s made space at his shows for queer fans to feel safe, seen, and celebrated — not just with flags, but with the culture he’s built around his performances.

he played a queer character in My Policeman — a deeply quiet, painful, and very specific kind of story that doesn’t scream activism, but speaks volumes about shame, repression, and love in a closeted life.

and through all of this, he’s never mocked, minimized, or distanced himself from the queer community, even as people have twisted his image for clicks, headlines, and gossip.

is it enough? maybe not for everyone. and that’s okay. we’re allowed to want more from the people we look up to. but i also think we have to be careful not to demand a level of “bravery” from H that we wouldn’t demand from others — or that we don’t fully understand the risks of.

outside of fandom, you’ll see this exact criticism aimed at nearly every major celebrity who doesn’t “go far enough” in their activism. and on the other side, the ones who do speak up get flooded with hate, lose deals, or become political targets. there is no winning formula — only the reality that public advocacy comes with very real consequences, especially for queer artists or those perceived as such.

so i guess my answer is this:

H might not be able to do everything you hope for. but he’s doing something. a lot, even, when you look closely. and in an industry built to silence, sanitize, and sell, that still matters.

I was just thinking. How much of an escapism is “faith in the future”? Why is it always keep your eyes on the horizon, paradise is getting closer everyday? What is there in some uncertain, undefined concept we will never ever feel or touch with our hands and minds? Why are we ought to never consider the now which is where we live and breathe and think and love? Can we trust ourselves to just carry that notion carefree in this moment of time? And the more of an untactful question, to what capacity can we say this is Louis’ toxic habit considering we don’t know him for more than 10% he showed us?

L has been chanting faith in the future at us since 26 march 2021—moments after his yearly nod to his x-factor audition (which he has not done since). then he kept doing it. march 2022. march 2023. march 2024.

so did he string us along? maybe, if you expected the future to be a single cinematic ta-da!—big rainbow doorway, he steps out, “surprise, i’m free and with harry.” but L’s compass is smaller, scrappier: survive the grief, build a record you’re proud of, sing it loud enough that arenas shake. when that’s done? pick a farther shoreline and start rowing again.

and notice—this march he didn’t tweet it. not because the mantra died, but because the boat actually docked: fitf cycle wrapped, lt3 sessions booted up. new horizon, new sticky note.

important footnote: L has also been yelling “be here now” the entire time. in “all this time” he literally says, “just have patience / it’s not how you spend the time, it’s if you waste it.” patience ≠ numbing out; it means don’t miss the friends you’re making, the love you’re trading, while you wait for tomorrow.

same energy in “holding on to heartache.” somebody calls him out: “you should be staring at the sky, the birds just passing by.” translation—quit doom-scrolling your own misery and look up; life is happening all around you.

so is the forever-tomorrow mindset toxic? it can be, sure, if it erases how heavy today feels. the mantra isn’t “everything’s fine,” it’s “don’t unpack and live in the pain forever.”

tl;dr: louis isn’t dangling an unreachable utopia; he’s handing us the compass he uses himself. keep the eyes forward and the feet grounded. make friends, scream the chorus, watch the birds, row toward the next shore. rinse, repeat, survive. ☼

the eye of providence is supposed to be the all-seeing eye. spiritually it’s about divine guidance, protection, and the idea that nothing is ever truly hidden. like the universe sees you, even if no one else does.

but it’s also super tied to conspiracy theory culture—think illuminati, secret societies, hidden truths. it shows up everywhere from dollar bills to music videos to random graffiti on subway walls.

now imagine louis tomlinson doodling it on his guitar in 2025 and harry styles sketching it on a journal in 2016. two halves of a “conspiracy” that they themselves keep calling a conspiracy.

imagine you’re driving on a winding, curvy road. most people just drive it, right? it gets them where they’re going. they don’t question why it bends left here or swerves right there — it just is what it is. but if you stopped and looked closer, you might start to wonder: why doesn’t this road take the most direct route? why does it loop around the hill instead of cutting straight through?

and the answer is: because the road wasn’t always a road.

before the pavement, before the traffic lights and gas stations and modern maps, that road was once a dirt path. a trail worn by foot, by horse, by carriage. it followed the terrain because it had to. it curved around trees that no longer exist. it detoured around rivers that have since dried up. and even though the landscape has changed, the shape of the road still remembers what came before.

that’s what it’s like being in this fandom.

the story of larry wasn’t always this polished, this distant, this hard to see. there was once closeness. comfort. familiarity. accidental softness. and then — there wasn’t. the terrain changed. the industry paved over the truth with denials and distractions and girlfriends and “just friends.” but if you look closely, the path is still there. the bends in the road still tell a story.

so i don’t blame people who only see what’s on the surface now. i really don’t. but i also don’t apologize for remembering what came before the pavement.

because once you’ve walked the old path — once you’ve seen t — you can’t unsee it. and every twist in the road makes a lot more sense.

happy pride month, my loves 🏳️‍🌈

this fandom, especially the larrie corner of it, is inherently queer. not just because of who we believe H and L are, but because of why we believe it — and what it says about the world they’ve had to survive in.

this june, i'd like to encourage you to take the time to learn. really learn.

look at the legacy they coded into the background of their lives:

🌟 rbb and sbb stood for something. they still do. - george michael taught the world the cost of being outed. - divine broke boundaries with drag before most of us were born. - freddie mercury gave the world his voice while the world gave him silence.

learn about section 28 — the uk law that told a generation of queer kids they didn’t exist. learn about keith haring’s art and activism. learn about polari — the secret language gay men used just to survive. rewatch my policeman and sit with what it meant for H to take that role. really sit with it.

but go even further. step outside of fandom and learn about:

- matthew shepard, who was brutally murdered for being gay. - the stonewall riots, led by black and brown trans people. - harvey milk, one of the first openly gay elected officials in the u.s. - the aids crisis, and how an entire generation was lost while the world looked away.

and then — celebrate our progress. go to a pride parade if you can. stream queer artists. read queer authors. watch queer films made by queer people. donate if you’re able. volunteer if you’re willing. advocate always.

because at the end of the day, we exist as larries for a devastating reason: in 2010, it was more profitable to shove queer teenagers into a closet than it was to believe that the girls buying their music could love them as they were. and in the fact that, in the big year 2025, queer and trans people — especially in the u.s. — are still fighting every single day for the right to live safely, freely, and fully.

so yes — H and L are beautiful. but the reason we care about it is because it’s rooted in something real. in something painful. in something ongoing.

use this month to honor that. to learn. to grow. to love louder. to make the world a little safer and kinder.

it’s been heavy in fandom lately, and i just want to say something gently but honestly.

there’s been a noticeable rise in how quickly we jump to hate — toward each other, toward people in the narrative we’ve placed as “villains,” and sometimes even toward the very people we claim to support. and i get it. this space can be emotional and overwhelming. it’s layered. we care deeply, and that can make everything feel personal. but somewhere along the way, holding someone accountable has started to look a lot like cruelty. and those aren’t the same thing.

this doesn’t mean we shouldn’t call out harmful behavior — especially serious issues like racism, misogyny, homophobia, or abuse. those things should be named and confronted. but not every misstep, not every disagreement, not every uncomfortable post deserves to be met with a full-blown hate campaign. sometimes, the kindest and most constructive thing we can do is pause, ask ourselves why we’re reacting with so much intensity, and choose to scroll past rather than engage.

what is it in us that’s so quick to want to destroy? to dehumanize? that’s worth sitting with — not because we’re bad people, but because we deserve to understand our own reactions better.

we owe it to each other — and to the artists we love — to make this space safer, softer, and more thoughtful. disagreement is okay. discomfort is okay. but hate doesn’t have to be the default. it never did.

hi there! this may not answer all of your questions, but i thought this would be a good opportunity to expand on what i was saying yesterday about media literacy — especially for anyone who might be reading and feeling a little unsure about how these things work.

yesterday, we got a pretty unfortunate article from a publication i’m going to call L&S.

the first thing we should look at when we get these kinds of articles is the publication itself.

L&S is a tabloid focused on celebrity gossip, fashion, and lifestyle tips. it's not known for hard journalism or deeply reported features. it's owned by a360 media, which also owns publications like the national enquirer, in touch, star, etc.

(okay, now that we know what kind of article we’re dealing with, let’s look at the contents.)

the only paragraph in the entire piece that mentions Liam is the first one. notice that this is only the journalist talking, not the source. this didn’t come from any of their teams, but instead from whoever wrote or approved the article. in mainstream media, the biggest headline involving the 1D boys in recent years was Li’s passing. (personally, i find it incredibly inappropriate to mention it in this context, but unfortunately the general public — and media — don’t seem to share that boundary.) L hates pity in his grief. he hates having it splashed across headlines. we’ve seen him push back against it before. this is not coming from inside his house.

“Louis Tomlinson is all loved up with new girlfriend Zara McDermott and it couldn’t come at a better time. After a rough few years that included the heartbreaking death of close friend and former One Direction bandmate Liam Payne, a source exclusively tells Life & Style the former boy bander is determined to make every moment count.”

the journalist then gives a timeline of what L has been doing recently, though their interpretation of those events is slightly different from what many of us observed in real time. that said — credit where it’s due — they did do some research on what he’s been up to and his “dating” history. the rest is a mix of filler and commentary, so let’s just look at what the “source” actually says:

“Things are very new with Zara but he’s excited, he really likes her,” the insider says.

this is standard. it could have come from any team member. it’s vague and easy to publish.

“They had the best time on her visit to Malibu,” the source confirms. “They aren’t joined at the hip yet though.”

so, a heads-up that we won’t be seeing them constantly together. which is interesting — it addresses fan speculation without giving anything solid.

The insider says keeping the celebrations girlfriend-free was part of the plot from the beginning, as they had “a boys’ trip to Coachella planned for ages” and he “did not invite her to join him.”

this is clearly aimed at fans (larries and antis alike) who noted her absence and speculated about it. it reframes that as deliberate — a pre-planned trip with the boys. but here’s the thing: most of that “boys’ trip” was his management. if they’d been honest, they could have said something like “his team had an artist playing Coachella and thought it would be great for the King-of-Festivals image after Glasto.” but that doesn’t sell the same as a “laddy lad bro trip.”

“He has very high hopes for things with Zara though,” the source adds. “He really wants to have a proper relationship — he is happiest and more grounded that way — but he’s vowing that he’s not going to race into anything too fast because he has always made that mistake in the past.”

“He’s trying to take things at a steady pace and will be flying to the U.K. soon to see her and some of his family, too,” the insider explains. “Louis is a relationship guy, so there is a very good chance this will be something significant, that’s what he says he wants.”

“Zara just got out of a long relationship, but she seems to have jumped into this both feet, they’re both in the honeymoon phase.”

this is all typical relationship narrative stuff. we’ve seen nearly identical coverage with El, D, and other rumored relationships. there’s no major tell here about who the source is. it could be from his team, her team, or someone being used as a proxy. what we can say is that if it wasn’t coming from someone’s team, the article likely would have said “a close friend” instead of “an insider.” “insider” is vague but gives a sheen of credibility — and they’d use something more specific if they had it.

one more detail worth noting: this article implies that L is not currently in the uk (since he’ll be “flying to see her”), which means either the source “leaked” this during his time in CR while she wasn’t there (and it’s just taken a couple weeks to surface), or he’s being quietly placed somewhere else for narrative purposes.

as far as directly addressing your ask:

i hear you — and your feelings are so valid. it’s really upsetting when an article uses someone’s grief, especially something as heavy as losing Li, to sell a relationship story. i think what happened here is that L&S tried to create a dramatic contrast — saying L has had a rough time (which is true), but now things are “getting serious” or “going from strength to strength” with Zara, as if that somehow fixes it. those phrases are just tabloid language meant to sound exciting — it doesn’t mean anything deep or confirmed. and the source is likely just someone giving a general narrative, not someone trying to hurt people or use Li's memory and passing as a selling point. it’s okay to be confused and overwhelmed by all of this — the media often makes things messier than they need to be.
