Today, I want to talk about a topic that everyone wanting to lose weight has trouble with.
Granted that we have determination and have lost a few or maybe a lot of pounds but the thing is, we eat when something triggers us. That is why we all have the same story, food was what got us into trouble. Food was what made us fat.
It also gave us comfort and made us feel good temporarily when we placed it in our mouths.
Knowing what is the stressor that makes you eat is very important.
It doesn't have to even be a negative feeling. For example, ever heard of the saying or seen that couples who have just got together gain a couple of pounds?
It called love pounds because they are so happy together that they don't care what they are feeling and just hang out all day eating at restaurants and what nots.
Of course, here are some other emotions that makes people stress eat:
1. Sadness - usually a broken hearted person.
2. Loneliness - they have nothing to do, they feel bored and so they eat
3. Anger - they need something to calm themselves down
I am sure there are others but these are just some of the more common ones that my friends and I can identify with.
For me, I eat when I am happy and that is not a good thing, because I am happy most of the time. Going to parties, socialising while snacking on canapes and finger food does not bode well for my waist line at all.
1. I have a healthy snack before i got to a social gathering. This way I don't overeat
2. I scan the party table first and then decide what would be the most healthiest options and limit myself to having only one dessert of my choice
3. I tell myself that there will always be another chance to eat more sinful stuff and today is not the say
4. I choose drinks with low calorie mixers
5. For every drink that I drink, I drink either a glass or two of water.
6. I try to eat more protein than carbs
7. I stand further away from the food table
8. I try to engage more in conversation.
What do you guys do to curb over eating in the even your stressor appears?
