I'm taking a math elective that is typically aimed at mid-level education majors right now and, wow, you can tell the professor isn't used to people that DO MATH

like I do most of the simple computations in my head or on paper and she's always a little surprised. Most of my math classes since middle school haven't permitted me to use a calculator, I've grown a distaste for it in algebra, typing it in and checking that I didn't make a mistake takes longer that just doing it
