Tips for Better Morning Energy
Drink a tall glass of water before you have your morning coffee
Do simple yoga stretches before you take your morning shower or get dressed
Take a cold morning shower - alerts your brain to wake up as well as soothes achy muscles
Eat a breakfast with mostly veggies, berries, and protein (avoid having carbohydrates - specifically refined grain - in the morning to conserve the energy). Balance is key so you can have more carbs as the day progresses!
Put coconut oil in your coffee and less milk (or simply just avoid coffee)
Trade in your regular dairy milk for almond milk
Wake up before 9am - If you wake up too late, often your day becomes wasted.
- xoxo M
Goals and rewards
You must weight under the goal in the morning for two consecutive days to get the reward.

Getting ready for May exams
Hello lovely followers, it has been a while! I have been very sick the past few/many months, but I have decided to still take my IB exams in 42 days, as well as going full force for fitness again, as I really need to, well, get my shit together. I will be aiming for 36 points, without extras, which is indeed quite ambitchous considering that I basically missed everything these past 2 semesters. But I will try my very best, and I hope you want to follow me again on this intense journey towards getting that IB diploma! Updates will be coming soon, it freels good to be back!💫
It’s 2016. You need motivation? No, what you need is discipline. IT’S TIME TO FOCUS. Force yourself to do things. Force yourself to get up early, make your bed, go get ready, and go. Force yourself to make plans for the day, and follow through with all those plans. Force yourself to get to class early so you can look over the material. Force yourself to pay attention in class and turn off your phone or at least put it on silent. Stop texting your friends and going on Instagram in class. You are wasting your time, so why even bother going to class if your are going to be distracted? Be selfish. Stop giving your time to people that do not matter. YOUR TIME IS SO SO PRECIOUS. STOP WASTING IT! This is the most important thing that you can do right now, take care of you and your education. Stop being distracted by the world and it’s never ending problems. This is the time that you need to put toward yourself because you are the greatest investment of your life. EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. EVERYDAY is a chance to wake up and give your 150%. EXHAUST yourself. That is the only way to give your all. At the end of the day, you should be exhausted from working so much, from reading so much, from exercising so much. Don’t go home because you are tired. Do whatever you need to get done and don’t come home until it’s all done. Stay late at the library. You feel tired? Good. That is how you know you are giving it your best. Go to the gym, and give your work out your all. When you go home, you should feel like you are drained. You should feel like you have nothing left to give because you gave it your all. Because then, you can be proud of yourself and everything you have achieved. Giving it your all is what matters. Give your all every single day. Discipline your mind and your body and you will become successful. You fall back one day? That is O.K., try the next day. You are human, so accept your mistakes. However, love yourself enough to know that you will never giving. THIS IS IT. THIS IS YOUR LIFE. Right now, no matter what circumstances we are all in, is what matters. Take advantage of today. Write down your dreams and force yourself to work toward them, one day at a time. IT’S TIME TO FOCUS. THIS is your year. This is your life. One day at a time baby. One day at a time. Go ahead and don’t stop.

Alternatives for Overused Words, inspired by this post from Ultrafacts
How to write a good TOK essay
· Max 1600 words
· Use knowledge from all subjects you take
· Use knowledge from your life outside of school
· Use knowledge from CAS experiences (could, but doesn’t necessarily, give a good example for your essay)
· General and true questions (titles)
· Get different perspectives in your essays (for example use parents, family, do research etc.) Religion, gender, age etc.
· News and newspapers could be used to give different views
· All claims should be connected or supported by examples, and all examples should be effective and varied
· Don’t spend too many words explaining the example. Use 1-3 sentences to describe the example.
· Link knowledge issues to areas of knowledge and ways of knowing
· Step away from your essay to get a perspective on yourself
· The title should be exactly as given (no number needed)
· The title is the heading
· Well presented
· References are important
· Bibliography is needed as well
· Use personal example that other people will not be able to use
· The word count does not include: title, bibliography, pictures, maps, charts, diagrams, tables, illustrations, references
· Put word count in the end of the essay
· Do not hand in a first draft with more than 1600 words
Structure of the essay:
Paragraph 1: 150-200
Paragraph 2 and 3: 400
Paragraph 4 and 5: 400
Paragraph 6 and 7: 400
Paragraph 8-9: 150-200
Paragraph 1:
· Bring up knowledge question. Don’t state directly “my knowledge question is” or “KW =”. State it indirectly.
· State your thesis (basically short answer to the knowledge question) i.e. your main claim
· Present what you will bring up in the essay (to make it easier for readers to understand what you will talk about). Use one sentence do describe this. Basically bring up your main claims of each paragraph/perspective/view
· Make the introduction interesting, something that makes them want to continue reading
Paragraph 2:
· Start with a claim, which is connected to your knowledge question
· Explain and elaborate, clarify your claim
· Use an example to support your claim. Bring up persona examples that could perfectly support your claim. No fake examples.
Paragraph 3:
· Bring up a counter claim to the claim in the second paragraph.
· Explain and elaborate, clarify your counter claim
· Use an example to support your counterclaim
· Link this counter claim to your knowledge question. Sum up the insights quickly.
General tip:
Make sure your examples are open for people to understand. Don’t use complicated math, because the examiner might not understand it.
Paragraph 4:
· Claim
· Explain
· Example
Paragraph 5:
· Counterclaim
· Example
· Link to knowledge question
Paragraph 6 and 7 could look the same as 4 and 5.
Make it easy for the examiner to follow your ideas and understand what you are talking about.
Paragraph 8:
· Implications and significance. Why is this important? So what?
· Bring in perspectives. Explain a perspective that someone else would have. Only do this if you didn’t bring up perspectives in the pervious paragraphs.
· Bring back the previous perspectives and discuss
Paragraph 9:
· Sum up your arguments and conclude. State the thesis again, in short.
10 Steps to Reaching your Full Academic Potential
Always get feedback, whether that be on essays, exams, homework or your general performance. In all cases, especially those where you can’t obtain formal feedback {i.e. from receiving a graded essay or test back}, arrange to meet with your tutor to discuss your progress.
Study efficiently. Pay attention to when you study best {morning or night?} and where you study best. Work on a schedule that falls around that. When you study, give it 100% and don’t give in to menial tasks {such as checking social media} that will break your concentration. Do this on a planned break.
Form good habits. Get roughly the same amount of sleep each night from the same hour at night to the same hour in the morning, if you can. Drink plenty of water. Like I said, take breaks. Study daily, even for a short amount of time if that is all you have.
Set yourself deadlines and stick to them. If you can, start your homework/assignments as soon as you get them, and if they’re longer ones, set goals along the way.
Fail to plan, plan to fail. A teacher once told me that, and it resonates in my mind even ten years on. It is not wise to write an essay or assignment in your head as you go along. Give yourself a structure and brainstorm ideas, no matter how brief or comprehensive this is.
Study actively. Don’t write and rewrite notes over and over. Get the information in to your long term memory through active recall {testing yourself}, making visual aids {mind maps/diagrams} and teaching others.
Anticipate a certain degree of disappointment somewhere along the way. Even the brightest minds will falter, and understandably, this might knock your confidence or your motivation. Allow yourself to build on those errors in time for your next assessment - let that motivate you. Making mistakes is inevitable, but not making the same mistake twice is key.
Enjoy what you do. Take classes that interest you, and aim to develop a knowledge of that subject which is well-rounded and comprehensive. Taking the extra steps to immersing yourself in your studies will not only make the process easier, but you’ll gain motivation through your inquisitiveness and desire to learn.
Treat your studies like a full time job - that is what they equate to in most cases. Take breaks and know your limits, but remember that if your input is minimal then your output will be too. Resist that urge we all know too well, and don’t shy away from your education.
Don’t succumb to the pressures of studying in the same ways as other people. We are all individuals, and what works for one is not forced to work for another. Experiment with different aspects of your learning experience to find what works for you. If you’re not a morning person, that’s okay. If colour coding feels pointless to you, that’s okay too. As long as you are making progress and you are reflecting on your studies then you’re doing just fine.
Motivation for "Harvard students" or all students basically
1. If you fall asleep now, you will dream. If you study now, you will live your dream.
2. When you think it’s too late, the truth is, it’s still early.
3. The pain of studying is only temporary. But the pain of not knowing—ignorance—is forever.
4. Studying is not about time. It’s about effort.
5. Life is not all about studying. But if you can’t even conquer this little part of life, then what else can you possibly do?
6. Enjoy the inexorable pain.
7. It’s those who are earlier than the others, those who put in more effort, who can enjoy the feelings of success.
8. Not everyone can truly succeed in everything. But success only comes with self-management and determination.
9. Time is flying.
10. The saliva that flow now will become the tears of tomorrow.
11. Dogs are learning, ambassadors are playing.
12. If you don’t walk today, you’ll have to run tomorrow.
13. People who invest in the future are realists.
14. The level of education is in direct correlation with your salary.
15. When today is over, it will never come back.
Tough times never last, but tough people do.
