one of the oddest takes i have seen in the fandom that still gets dragged around like a moldy dog toy is "if you make jester buff, that means you hate fjord" wtf is up with that?

I've had people ask me about fjord stuff since he's my favorite, our best guess we came up with was people consider it very emasculating and that jester has to be delicate and lithe for fjord to not be made a fool.

I regularly draw jester chubby with some muscle since she canonically has 16 strength and I've had the fortune of no weirdos who think women can't be fat or buff crawling up to tell me I'm wrong (in fact I've been blessed to have the opposite of people actually really liking how she looks).

Fjord has the problem of either being hated by people who don't get him, or drawing in an audience that wants to loop him in with every single traditional male main character in fantasy who is THE center of the story. The guys who are endlessly cool and pretty much flawless and get all the hot girls. They think him being the leader and often aligning with traditionally masculine things it means anything in the story to push back against that idea is bad and an insult to him.

They don't like accepting that Fjord is a bit of a dork who is largely middle of the road with most of his stats, with Charisma being his real winner. They don't like to be reminded that Fjord isn't a ladies' man and that Travis repeatedly had said sucks with women and really can't flirt. They don't like that Fjord fails and is a bit silly and ridiculous. I just know that when we get to his late stage animated content where he embraces his faults and lets himself be silly, they're going to scream for days about how the show ruined him.

I pull double duty of defending fjord against people who hate him for incorrect opinions they have, and fending off his "fans" who think he needs to be a stoic badass who is the most important in the group. I like a man that makes me laugh when he fails and embraces a little whimsy.
