Better Run, Outrun My Gun // Tix & Joe & Finn
Finn was at the door within a few seconds of Joe knocking, dark circles under his eyes and his hair messy. There was obviously stuff going on with him but, at that moment, Joe’s priority had to be Tix. “Well… I don’t know really. Tix needs a place to stay that’s not the hospital for a while so… Can we come in please?”
Joe placed Tix down on the sofa gently, wincing, before looking down at her and sighing. He walked over to Finn, gesturing with his head that they should leave the room for a second, placing his hand on the boy’s back and guiding him into the hallway. “Mate, I’m really sorry ta drop this on ya it’s just… She ain’t good.” He paused, unsure what to say. “She’s obviously got out the hospital, god know’s ‘ow, an’ she was just on the street. She started hittin’ this man, Finn. Like, proper hittin’ him. I din’t think she could do something like that but… Then she attacked me cause I stood in between them. It was like she weren’t all there, y’know?” Joe shook his head. “I’d say she could stay at mine bu’ I’ve got work an’ I can’t leave her alone so I thought you were the best bet. Would… Would that be a’right?”
The sofa felt like it would suck her in it was so soft, there was nothing so comfy in hospital. Or at least that's how it felt, as Tix's tired body relaxed into it, and she let out a sigh. She wondered if it was made of cloud, then tried to reel herself back in because she knew that she was having crazy thoughts, but it was hard to tell the difference when her mind was going a million miles a minute and yet stalling every few seconds to restart. Her mind was still playing tricks on her, showing her things that weren't there, and she was thankful that at least Joe's and Finn's eyes stayed the same when they turned into demons because then she could pull herself back in when she looked at them.
Finn. It finally dawned on her where she was, who was there, and she reached out a hand towards Finn's blurry form. Oh good, Finn. If Joe was the prince of the story, Finn was the white knight, Rae's white knight, and he could throw a punch. She'd seen the results of a Finn punch on Joe's very own face so long ago, and she knew he wouldn't hold back in protecting things, and the calming thought that Finn might even punch her if she got dangerous again made her smile. That was good, that was such a good thing, it made her feel like less of a bomb. She'd have to explain it was OK thought. "I'm going to explode," she said as explanation, then frowned, wondering if he would get it. What was a nice way of saying... Oh, ok. "Turn me off," Tix told Finn with the most serious face, then she smiled serenely and leaned back into the couch. Good, that was taken care of.
