Well. This was escalating rather quickly. Herbert had been minding his own business, peoplewatching, but he wasn’t going to admit as much, when the whole debacle went down. Yet he did not move an inch as it happened. What was he, in all his five foot four glory, against an attacker at least double his size?
He had been further minding his own business when the SNAKE came out of nowhere, peeking over his newspaper, to attack the attacker. Seems he was only at the beginning of the odd things he’d see here.
Great. He had been AVOIDING getting roped into this mess.
“It is also rather ‘not nice’ to command innocent bystanders to do your bidding.”
“You have more than one hand. And a TAIL, as it seems. Call them yourself.”
“You gunna waste time running that big ass mouth or are you gunna be a good citizen and help me out?” She says, before turning back to snarl at this particular criminal.
If she were as strong as she was back home, she could easily hold them in place and weasel a hand into one of the pouches on her belt to grab her phone, but given the fact they stripped most of her superhuman qualities away from her, she was left with the strength of about a Viper in training.
“I mean I could just kill him and give her the bag back but normally where I’m from, people are- go to sleep-” She hisses, punching the squirming mugger in the face. “-people are willing to help the police, you know?” She’s wearing her tactical gear, Chimera Squad badge dangling from her belt, but here, XCOM had no authority so it didn’t mean much.
“You assume my character, serpent, that I’d hold any obligation to this city I’ve spent one week in to stop a crime between two people I don’t know, and of which each one’s part in the crime is.”
He’s crossing his hands now, staring defiantly back. What does she want him to do, run to the closest diner and make a call, running all the way back? Surely she would have killed the man by that point. Not that she didn’t look capable, in all her armored glory. Didn’t giant snakes eat people? She could easily get rid of him.
“Further, would it not suit your purposes as a wanna-be police officer yourself to simply kill and destroy any evidence of a criminal in the first place? One less threat in the world, making Radiale a better place, whatever helps you sleep at night? Because, further than that, I am invoking my right to stay the hell out of any business you may have with said criminal.”
He wasn’t going to ask, but it would behoove the BOTH of them if she happened to kill the man with blunt force trauma; her with one less criminal out ruining the city, and he with a fresh test subject.
