Disc Golf Tip # 1
There are so many theories going on right now about how to introduce the sport to New Players. This advice is for those who have tried the sport once or twice, and are looking to get more involved.
As you play more and more and people start to critique your drives, approaches and putts, don’t forget the main objective: Disc in Chains!
Next, don’t buy any new discs. And stay away from the expensive looking ones. When you enter a store that sells discs, ask for DX plastic. If the clerk doesn’t know what youre talking about, look for the cheapest discs on the rack. See if they have a used bin. DX plastic is the easiest stuff to start throwing with. Many times, Innova has a 3-pack for beginners that consists of an Aviar, Leopard and Shark. All DX. This is MORE than any beginner needs, but perfect for the price.
When you have these discs go out to the course and throw the heck out of em. The Leopard will leave your hand (right handers) and fly right to left dramatically. Your objective is to get that disc to fly straight. Once this disc leaves your hand and starts “Turning over” (that’s when the disc flies Left to Right) you can move on to more expensive plastic.
