okay so i got like, three books delivered this week, and in anticipation i reread another book that i had, and lads, let me tell ye, it was like quicksand. so now i have a list, some from my head, many from my wonderful friends’ heads, of prompts that basically made us all very soft or very “pleasantly scandalized rich lady from the sixties who just found out a juicy bit of goss about the new neighbor”. i hope ye like them! (DO NOT ADD TO THE LIST. I WILL MAKE A PART TWO. AND THREE. AND FOUR. MANY MANY PARTS. EVENTUALLY. )

[ HAIR ]:          sender slowly reaches out to catch a loose strand of the receiver’s hair and tuck it gently and securely back behind their ear, letting their touch linger afterwards. (if the receiver has short hair, then the sender reaches out and gently runs their fingers through their hair to smooth it back.)

[ CLOSE ]:          while standing remarkably close to one another, the sender is unable to stop themselves from running their gaze across the receiver’s body, lingering for a moment on their lips, before returning to initiate prolonged, intense eye contact.

Camilla was tired. She was tired of the fighting, of the screaming, of the inability to get more than a few hours sleep, of the fear that tomorrow may never come…but what exhausted her most of all was the incessant bloodshed. It could not have been more than a fortnight since conflict began in the supposed safety of the harem walls, and yet, it felt like it had gone on for months. The scheming and politics concealed under a veil of peace had finally revealed itself, and who was to pay the price? Not the players, but the pawns, the innocent children who had little choice but to play the game their mothers began.

Too many had been killed already, and with each loss, she had little time to grieve her half-siblings. Just as those who were victorious had turned on the dead, they turned on her, and Camilla often had to maim or murder to protect herself. With each day that passed and each bloodstain that dried on the cobbles, she could feel herself becoming more numb to the pain of slaying her own kin.

What she could never become numb to, however, was how the elder preyed on the younger. Those reaching their teens would attack those who were so small they could barely hold a dagger to defend themselves. Some of the children had no concept of what was happening before their little lives were cut short. Camilla felt a need to protect those who could not protect themselves, as if it were an instinct; and that night, she had protected a small boy who could not be more than seven years of age from being stabbed by a brother older than them both. With multiple swings of the woodcutting axe she had claimed on the first night, she felled him, his face and body beyond recognition. And without a word, she had taken her little brother’s hand and made a swift exit into the main hall, down the stairwell, and into one of the baths.

There appeared to be no one there, which provided Camilla some relief. She brought the young boy to the edge of the bath and put her axe down before sliding into the water. She turned to him, taking his hand once more, and offered him a small smile. Camilla hoped he’d trust it.

“While we can, let us wash the blood off of you and your clothes, alright? It might be the only chance we get for a long time…perhaps until all of this is over,” she whispered to him, “and I promise, I won’t let anyone hurt you in the meantime.”

Soren doesn’t know whether or not he should be scared of Skrimir when he smiles at him like that. What he does know, however, is that he’s concerned—while he used to feel that way consistently, living in Gallia and knowing the new king relieved some of his apprehension. However, when that said king witnessed something he shouldn't have...he cannot help but feel ill at ease.

Almost instinctually, he takes a step back. “…What?”

Tetsurou exhaled loudly as he gently stepped into the private onsen outside of the room they had rented at the ryokan. The warmth of the water gently lapping against his skin and the steam enveloping the air immediately soothed him. He had heard that the hot springs of Karuizawa were healing to the mind, body, and soul, but he had not believed it until this very moment. Tetsurou slowly sunk down deeper into the water and sat down on the seat, letting relaxation wash over him.

“Kenma, hurry up,” he called out to the washing area within their room, “you gotta get in here; it’s great!”

“Isn’t the point of going to an onsen for you to relax instead of hurrying? I’m coming.” 

Tetsurou snorted at his boyfriend’s acknowledgement and leaned back into the seat. It did not take long for him to close his eyes and take in the peaceful quiet. He could see himself staying in there forever; overheating be damned!

After a few moments of near silence, he heard the light splashing sounds of Kenma getting into the water. Just as he did minutes prior, Kenma exhaled, and it brought a smile to Tetsurou’s face. Even his exhale was cute…his cuteness really did know no bounds. And when he opened his eyes to look down at Kenma’s adorable happy face, he couldn’t help but smile.

“Enjoying it, huh?”

“Mm.”

Tetsurou took a mental picture of how Kenma looked in that moment; it was rare to see him looking so relaxed and happy without a console in his hand. Any time he had an expression such as this on his face, Tetsurou almost felt like he was refreshed too. 

What was even more refreshing, however, was seeing Kenma’s long hair tied up in a little bun on the top of his head, leaving his neck and forehead exposed. Typically, his boyfriend left at least part of his hair down so that his field of vision wasn’t too wide. It was an adorable look on him...if not a little hot. Seeing his bare neck was doing something to Tetsurou, and he didn’t know if the heat he was feeling throughout his body was the onsen or an arousal.

He couldn’t help himself, and he pulled Kenma onto his lap, which led to Kenma emitting a noise of surprise and confusion. Tetsurou wrapped one arm around his waist and another around his upper back as he leaned in to press a kiss to the right of his Adam’s apple. He let his lips linger for a bit, sucking gently on the skin. When he pulled back, he felt his already warm cheeks get even hotter.

“Sorry…you were just so attractive, I had to do that. I’ll put you down so you can go back to relaxing.”

A lack of sleep had become a common occurrence in Eliwood’s life as of late. At best, there would be pockets of time in which the gentle cries of an infant next door would cease for a few hours, allowing him and his wife to rest until their son woke them again. At worst, Roy was near inconsolable and restless, leaving both Eliwood and Ninian without sleep by the time the sun rose in the morning. The past few days had been the latter, and by the shade of dark circles that had begun to form under Ninian’s eyes, the constant fussing had started to take its toll on her.

Any time she seemed more tired than usual, or more stressed, or unwell, Eliwood was concerned. He knew her time with him was limited, and he was fearful of anything that could hasten the process and take her from him far too soon. As Ninian was propping herself up to get out of bed for what seemed like the hundredth time that night, he gently put a hand on her shoulder. “Stay here,” he whispered, giving her a small smile, “I’ve got him tonight. Please, sleep.”

Before he could hear Ninian utter even a word of protest, he promptly jumped out of bed and headed to the nursery, where their son was making his protests known that something in his little life was not how he wanted it. Upon reaching Roy’s crib, Eliwood very gently lifted him up and into his arms. “Shh, Roy, shh...it’s going to be alright. You were fed a couple hours ago, so it can’t be that, so…did you go to the bathroom? Or did you just need a bit of comfort?”

At the sound of his father’s voice, Roy’s cries started to fade into whimpers, and Eliwood gave him a smile before kissing his head. “I see…so you were just wanting a bit of company, huh? Well, Daddy’s here. And I’ll be here for as long as you need.” He paced around the room for a few minutes, gently bouncing Roy in his arms, thanking St. Elimine that his presence was enough to calm his son down. He would have felt terrible if it was Ninian who he wanted after telling her to go back to sleep.

Roy let out a very soft yawn and curled into Eliwood, his eyes slowly closing. Eliwood pressed one last kiss to his head and sat down in the chair near his crib. While he was successful in soothing Roy, his slumber was quite fragile—the last thing Eliwood wanted to do was risk putting him down and waking him yet again. He leaned back into the chair and gently changed Roy’s position so he was sleeping fully on his chest, and closed his eyes. “Goodnight, Roy. I love you.”

Eliwood must have fallen asleep, because he awoke to a pair of lips pressing gently against his. As the silhouette of his wife came into focus, so did the soft hues of an early sunrise. His eyes immediately widened, and he looked down at Roy, who was still soundly asleep in his arms. “Ninian…I’m so sorry. I meant to return to bed, but I suppose I was more tired than I thought…and I didn’t want to disturb him, so…” he brought a hand up to cradle Roy’s head as he scooted forward in the chair. “Were you able to get some rest?”

Soren nearly stumbled as he walked hearing Ike’s unexpected proposal—especially with how casually he asked it. His face immediately turned fifty shades of red, and he looked up at Ike. “Are you…are you serious? Are you saying what I think you are?”

“Well, look who it is,” Kamui said. “I didn’t expect to run into you out here, Leon.”

Upon hearing a familiar voice, Leon looked up from the produce he was looking to purchase and to his right. Kamui…it had been a few years now, he presumed. Both of their paths diverged quite quickly after Alm and Celica were crowned and wed to one another. While he stayed by Valbar’s side as a knight, Kamui went where the wind blew off on worldly adventures as a mercenary, which is what made him happiest. And now that Leon had relinquished his knighthood to travel himself, he understood his former companion’s feelings much better.

“It has certainly been a while, hasn’t it, old friend? How are you?” Leon offered him a small smile and walked over toward him. “I’m almost inclined to give you a hug. Almost.”
