she smiled gently and let out a breath. “gray is kicking like crazy...think he’s hungry,” she chuckled softly as she leaned into him. “i’m also horny as hell but i was keeping that to myself around current you.”

he nodded his head as he took her hand and breathed out while he watched her carefully. “maybe i should stay until well….at least until the baby comes then you’re better fitted to do something of a threat comes your way without risking gray’s life.”

she let out a breath and sniffled as she looked to her husband. “won’t he...won’t he be mad if i take away letting him be at gray’s birth?” she asked gently. “he didn’t let me hold penny when she was born and that crushed me,” she added.

he swallowed and moved to sit forwards a bit more. “you think he was concerned enough to drag me back to ensure she was safe?” he whispered as he moved to get up and move to sit beside her with a soft reassuring smile. “i really doubt he’d actually hurt her.”

she inhaled sharply and leaned against him, head on his shoulder. “Maybe...i just thought things were going well but i suppose maybe he just doesn’t want to bother trying,” she murmured. she sniffled and wiped her eyes. “he said if he needed to quiet her...he wasn’t sure how far he’d go. --how do i live knowing every day my daughter might be killed?”
