Broken Phone

Just letting people know that my phone broke, communication with those I was conversing with will be sparse (especially on apps such as Instagram and Telegram) until the new one comes. I currently have 0 commissions in queue (as usual, probably because I suck) and a couple trades in the works. Patience is greatly appreciated.

Just a quick WIP/junk dump. Haven’t been able to get much done in the art department lately, baking for work and doing stuff for my tattoo apprenticeship has eaten me yet again. Hope everybody has been well!

***Just a tip about me: I can be very bad with checking my Tumblr when I’m busy with work. Best way to get a hold of me is by shooting me an e*mail!

Another WIP from my pile of backlogged gifts and things. My character Blondie with a friend’s caracal character dressed as Jimmy McGill/Saul Goodman. Bob Odenkirk is my ultimate weakness and has been since I was a little kid and saw Mr. Show. Most people who know make fun of me for it, but there’s nothing better to me than a sleazy-looking older guy with a good job and a devilish smile.

Sorry for being incommunicado as of late. Some of you know that my ‘regular’ job as a personal chef from my home is very time-consuming around certain times of year and right now is one of them. Been slaving over an oven 50 hours a week, but it’s starting to trickle off and I’m getting back into drawing.

Update

Been really busy with life lately. A little overwhelmed with settling in and starting to do art again.

Looks like I got a little bit overzealous picking up old projects and juggling them with the new. I took on too much too soon and I kind of petered out (if anyone follows my WIP thread on the FA forums it's pretty obvious. At one point I was putting up one 'new' WIP a day.) I'm feeling really overwhelmed and a little bit burnt out, to the point where I overworked a couple of things including a couple of those icons I was working on. Where most people can pump out something small in a very short period of time, I goofed and started to nit-pick everything to the point where what was actually pretty satisfactory turned out looking STIFF AS HELL and ultra boring; no personality what so ever. Right now I'm frustrated! I want to give people work that I'm proud of, which can be challenging after a four year break from drawing anthro art. Right now I'm gathering some good references, skimming tutorials, and I'm going to be doing some practice on paper to get the hang of composing things and giving stuff a little more expression and fluid movement. No one likes boring, static poses or faces that are just...there. Feel free to float any suggestions or tutorials that you might find interesting my way. I had a feeling that this would happen when I began, hence the 'pay upon completion' with my icons. Until I get the hang of doing this "part time" when I'm not working as a chef, I won't be accepting deposits or full payment on commissioned work because I sincerely want to be comfortable and confident going into this and make people happy with what I do. Some of the things I need to focus on include: *POSING! This is a big one. A lot of my old work is very bland because my figures were just...standing there doing nothing. *Composition/Blocking; I need to plan my pictures a little bit more, not just sit down and scribble something then delete it if i don't like it. *Environments; I do not feel like much of my work really has a 'vibe' or 'feel' to it because I really was stuck on just drawing a face/body and then just sticking it on a boring backdrop. ...I hope everyone is well, thanks for bearing with me while I get my footing again. Don't be afraid to e*mail/note me if you have any questions, suggestions, etc...I may not be online a lot but I try to check my mail at least every night (and my notes every other night or so since I don't get much interaction here) and I respond to everyone who sends me a message the moment I get the chance. To me, price doesn't matter. When you commission me or agree to a trade, I really do want to give you the best product I possibly can. I sincerely hope that with a little more practice under my belt that my time and the general outcome of my images will improve. I am going to try and push myself as much as possible. <3

Sorry for being MIA for a while. I’ve been moving and readying myself for school...also been grumpy because I’m gearing up to do crossfit, exercising at least 1 hour a day 6 days a week, and most importantly had to cut out all sodas, sugars, and the majority of carbs. Going to need some time to adjust to low-carb living again, I’m in the tired phase right now.

Also decided that I’d had enough with my Huion tablet and sent it back. Just now ordered a Wacom instead. My advice would be not to bother with ‘cheap’ knockoff tablets if you can avoid it, that Huion did not meet my needs and malfunctioned on me almost immediately to the point where I could find no solution. I tried everything that others with the same problem suggested to no success.

ANYWAYS, This guy’s up for sale on my FurAffinity account, if anyone’s interested. Did this cutie with my laptop touchpad and the Photoshop pen tool while I wait for my Wacom.

My new icon. I used an old sketch with a couple mistakes, but I still think its OK. I was going to do some more work on it, but I accidentally flattened and saved it so I can’t work on it anymore. ‘~’ It’ll do for now, though!

Tablet Arrival!

So uh...I took the trip to grab my new tablet. I’m getting a little carried away figuring out what project I need to focus on. This is just a fraction of the stuff I want to work on. Even though they’re small things like a chibi ref of Riley, a badge, and a headshot...it is very difficult reintroducing one’s self to digital work.9___6

Still I’m SUPER HAPPY to have a graphics tablet again and I plan on making the best of it. It would be great to open up for commissions and trades once I get used to using it again. I’ve still got a backlog of gifts to practice on so I’m going to plug away at them in the meantime...

This is a gift in progress for my good friend @awdplace. His wonderful character, Pixels! Currently I only have my laptop on me (my new tablet was shipped to my old address out of state and I cannot make the three hour trip to get it due to some pretty nasty weather in New England at the moment) so I’ve been relying on patience and the Photoshop Pen Tool. I was hoping to finish it before Valentine’s Day, but it’s taking me a lot longer than expected. None the less, I’ve been enjoying plugging away at it very much.

Andrew is one of the sweetest, most talented individuals I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing. Anyone who’s acquainted with me can attest to my lack of self-confidence and intermittent bouts of severe depression. He’s one of the handful of people I’ve had the pleasure of meeting online who’s been nothing but patient, uplifting, and an all around candle in the dark. On top of all that, he’s one of the most talented character designers and artists I have ever seen! His work makes me grateful for eyesight, he’s fabulous in so many ways,

It was so hard choosing which character of his to draw...as a matter of fact, this sketch started out very differently and came into fruition while I was still working as a baker/caterer. I was on the phone with a client who was ordering a cake and felt inclined to doodle Pixels on the corner of an order sheet.

Hope you like it, Andrew, and thank you for all the wonderful inspiration and positivity you’ve brought into my life! I promise I’ll finish her as soon as possible. I may not be on Twitter anymore, but you know where to find me if you need me!
