He shouldn’t exist. Not that she meant it in a cruel way or anything, but it should have been physically impossible for something like him to be real, but then the same could be said of her. Look at them, a couple of freaks in a freakish world…just her luck that she’d find an honest to god zombie in this hell-hole of a city. Strung-out, Z freak zombies, yes, those sorts were rather common place on the streets, but an actual, no joke brain eater? Yeah, that was a new one.
He sighed at her, but really, shouldn’t he have expected that question? It was only natural that someone might ask that, if they’d just been made privy to the same information she had, right?
Truth be told, Wynter didn’t know what sort of answer to expect from the ghoul, didn’t know what he’d say or what sort of explanation that he’d offer up, so she couldn’t really say she was overly disappointed when his only response was ‘I don’t know’.
“You don’t know? But I mean…s-shouldn’t you have some sort of idea? I mean…were there experiments? Radioactive spider? Voodoo?” she asked, probing a bit. What? Anyone would have been curious had they been in her position.
She was right, of course. By all means, he shouldn't exist. The procedure should have either helped, or killed him. End of story. Except something had gone terribly wrong with it all. Maybe something GeneCo was testing to get rid of the mass amount of bodies hidden under the city. Maybe a fluke. Maybe he was just a shitty kind of person that even death didn't want. Finn really didn't know. But her further prodding only caused him to stop in his tracks, giving her a sharp look. Shouldn't he have some sort of idea? Hell, he'd like any ounce of inkling the world had to offer -- but no. He had nothing. No idea. None. Notta. Zip. Zilch.
"Yeah, I'm sure it's voodoo." He replied dryly, "Someone in some backwoods creek with chicken bones specifically arranging them so I live only off dead flesh." Really, what kind of fucked up shit would that be? A ragged sort of breath was drawn in by the Graverobber as he started walking again, keen on getting this apparent member of the Spanish Inquisition back to where she was safe.
"I went in for surgery, next thing I knew, I was in the morgue." It wasn't much to go on, and he knew it. Something that had been prodding his brain, festering in all the possibilities since the moment he had reopened his eyes.
