Hey everyone there is no plainer way to put it, we need to make $1100 to make rent. I've been battling being sick for a week which lost me a ton of time at work and on top of everything hours are starting to dwindle as it is. I worked overtime for a month straight to try and get ahead but it barely kept us afloat for October. My name is Aya, and I’m reaching out from Gaza. I am addressing you after a complete year of a devastating war that left disastrous impacts on our lives. I led a good life along with my family that was once happy, but things took an ugly turn since war eruption. Despite difficulties, we managed to cope somehow. Yet, it has been a complete year of fear, anxiety and lack of certainty, and this isn't ending anytime soon. For this reason, we have decided to evacuate Gaza and start over in a new place. I love my hometown. I certainly do, but the survival of my family is at stake! I am appealing to you to help me save my family by raising the necessary funds to safely evacuate Gaza. You are kindly invited to read my story as I try to explain in simple words unexplainable feelings of misery, desperation and bitterness.

Sweet home, no more

At first, we were forced to leave the comfort of our house in order to seek refuge in a safer place. Well, it turned out that there's no thing such as a safe place in Gaza and, sadly, our sweet home was damaged. To a small family, like us, home means everything. It means safety, comfort and love, but no more!

A complete turnaround

Before war, we enjoyed a comfortable life. Our house was fully equipped with the latest gadgets. Everything we needed was just a click away. Yet, we have gone through a complete turnaround. Since the beginning of the war a year ago, we had no power supply, no water, and no cooking gas! We are literary a century back in time. We use wood for cooking and heating, stand in lines for water supply and manually move water from very far places.

It's me. I loved cooking, graphic design and reading. Yet, all of this sounds now like a distant memory. The war has effectively killed my passions, as all I am thinking about in the meantime is the safety and survival of my family. I worked as a content creator, studied to be a professional graphic designer and had big dreams, but sadly they are all gone!

Dad

My father, Ayman, worked as a respected computer engineer at a big tech company. He loved his work, but sadly, he doesn't work anymore as the company stopped operating in Gaza. My father suffers from high blood pressure, and I am seriously worried about his safety and health, considering the shortage in medications and healthcare services in the war-torn Gaza. My father is also occupied by our safety and survival which increases his illness. Being responsible for a family of five members isn't a small feet in normal conditions, not to mention in wartime.

My mom, Eman, is my sweetheart. Despite the challenges, she took care of us every single day for over a year of displacement. Regardless of the challenges, she kept on supporting us without complaining. However, I am increasingly worried that she might collapse under this unbearable pressure.

Granny

My 85-year old granny is the most vulnerable person in our family. she is chronically sick, and the lack of medications and healthcare only makes her condition even worse! My granny, who barely walks, is displaced over and over again and is forced to move dozens of kilometers every time we get displaced.

My brother, Ahmad, worked at a big tech company and was preparing to get married. He had a promising future and a great career ahead, but all of his dreams have vanished in the dust of war. He lost his job. I am really worried about his safety as he is growingly depressant!

The line between safety and peril

To safely evacuate Gaza, we need to travel through Rafah border crossing, which increasingly represents the line between safety and peril. However, we are asked to pay a huge sum (7,000 USD per person) which we cannot afford, as the war has drained our savings. That's why I decided to turn to you for help. Please, save our lives. Genocide flattens every discussion. There are no new conversations to be had about the destruction, death and cruelty. After more than a year, there is nothing left to be said about various media houses, corporations and international bodies of law aiding and abetting all that has been happening in Gaza, either. Fahed is currently supporting 13 family members in total- his own family and that of his sister’s.

He has to look after 8 children now, with the youngest being his son Yayha who is barely having anything to eat because the price of baby milk is exorbitantly high in Gaza.

The genocide has taken a toll on Fahed’s daughters. Sahar and Dana spent a whole year under the threat of bombs and right now instead of getting to be teenagers, they ask their father if they will survive. They have even said they don't want to live if they lose someone.

The family right now immediately needs clothes to keep them warm throughout winter. Fahed’s family is from the north and has been displaced several times before they came south. Displacement is dangerous and a silent killer because often essential items are lost and cannot be replaced in time.

Please consider that the weather has already turned colder around the world and that which is only mildly uncomfortable to us, presents a dire situation for Gazans. The families don't have a shelter and there is no way for tents to adequately protect from cold winds and rain. So right now the immediate need is for warm clothes and it can cost upto $400 per person. With THIRTEEN PEOPLE to take care of Fahed immediately needs to raise at least 5k to buy the required apparels. So please boost and donate.

I lived with my family in a warm house full of love and security, thinking about how I could achieve my dreams and become an impactful person in society.

But suddenly, everything changed. The war swept through our city like a relentless storm. In a single night, my home became just a memory, and the city I once knew crumbled before my eyes. The sound of planes and shells became the only thing people could hear. We tried to find shelter, a safe place to hide our dreams and lives, but the war followed us wherever we went.

We were forced to leave everything behind—the house, the memories, and even the university. We became displaced, homeless, with no destination, just trying to survive. I walked with my family through unfamiliar roads, searching for a place to take us in, trying to escape danger, running from one explosion to the next, from one ruin to another.

The war didn't just destroy our city and homes, it destroyed our dreams. My dream of completing my studies became far out of reach, and every day, I feel hope slipping further away. But despite all this, something inside me refuses to give up. There is a desire to escape this reality and build a new life, a life worth living. I dream of continuing my education, I dream of standing on my own feet again and achieving the goal I was once striving for: to help others who have lived through the pain of war like me.

I ask for your help, humbly. I can't get out of these circumstances on my own. The donations you gather will help me travel to a safe place where I can continue my studies and start a new life away from war and fear.
