More random updates from the past couple of weeks...
- I turned thirty and didn't have much of a reaction until my total breakdown in Ikea over almost buying a brand new beige couch instead of some second-hand ugly monstrosity like the real me would have done (spoiler: we did not buy the beige couch; we have rehomed some very kind and very financially comfortable dude's sofa which has not one but two gaudy floral options) - we moved the bulk of what was left at the old apartment into the new apartment, whether or not we've actually unpacked it - there was actual concern that fiance might have whooping cough until we found out this is just how the unpleasantness progressed in the coworker that it turns out he caught it from (no seriously I grew up in a household with asthma, chronic bronchitis, multiple bouts of walking pneumonia, and a smoker - never heard a cough like this in my life) - I started getting congested and let's just not even talk about it ok I've seen what this looks like and already need an inhaler at the ready on a day to day basis let's just not - a visit from the parents meant very large and helpful gifts followed by awkward phone check-ins followed by a delayed slew of anxiety attacks - my tarot decks ended up in one of these boxes and I can't figure out which one - our most beloved furchild has blossomed in the new one-cat space to include meowing at us, sleeping on the couch sometimes, and actually playing again - it took a full week to get to the three dozen ears of corn we (ok I) decided to grab on the deep discount last-of-harvest flash sale actually processed (into twelve vacuum-packed two-cob meals' worth in the freezer, three pints of kernels for canning, six quarts of corn broth from husks and cobs, and one gigantic batch of roasted corn and cauliflower soup) - we've had soup so many times. And chicken. There was a ridiculous sale on roaster chickens about the same time we got our kitchen stuff into the kitchen and I turn the carcasses into stock and I've run out of quart jars now what. - a narrow bookshelf meant for single-row cube storage went up in the bedroom that's specifically dedicated to altar space, for both of us. I've got a family/ancestor/deceased cube and a not-quite-tangible-stuffs-but-also-yes cube. - the plants are adapting for the most part. The purselane may not make it but the indoor friends are doing alright. Winter is coming so if it's in the budget we'll be allowed to get more friends soon too. (I don't let myself buy houseplants during agricultural season when there are other plants I need to focus on.) - moving is some shit, y'all. Like damn. But even with my limitations and our very small vehicle we've managed pretty damn alright even if it's meant overall absence from the interweb.
