Hermione hadn’t been able to focus much in the library as of late, he was always there, and wherever he went, so did the flock of girls that always seemed to be following him. They were never able to be completely quiet and he always sat at a table near her. Glaring at the girls didn’t seem to help much, it only fueled their whispers and giggles and they nearly always had an excuse ready for Madam Pince not to throw them out.
She had been looking forward to the tournament, for the chance to learn more about foreign wizarding cultures other than from a book. She thought she might get along with the Beauxbatons students, she knew some french and she hadn’t used it in a long while. But they kept mostly to themselves, moving in groups, closed off to the Hogwarts students.
The Durmstrang students had taken a liking to the Slytherins, or maybe it was the other way around. Either way, she wasn’t about to sit at the Slytherin table to discuss their lesson plan.
Add that to the fact that Harry’s name had come out of the Goblet of Fire and she found herself more on edge than ever. He’d come out of the first task alive, but he didn’t seem in much of a hurry to figure out the second task, something that annoyed her to no end.
And everyone in school, including Ron, was talking about the fact that the great Viktor Krum was at Hogwarts. She’d only learned about his existence when they were attending the World Cup, and while there was no denying that he was a good Quidditch player, it simply didn’t interest her enough to care. He was just another student, one that had girls following him around, guys asking for autographs and flying tips and one that disturbed her peace when she was trying to study.
She had to admit though, he didn’t seem very interested in his admirers male or female and she mostly saw him by himself, in the library, maybe fame wasn’t for him, maybe he was like Harry in that aspect. She’d be lying if she said it didn’t intrigue her a little.
But right now, she was annoyed. He was in the library once again, girls doing a poor job of hiding behind the bookcases and she felt watched. She couldn’t focus when she felt someone’s eyes burning on her and when she looked up, he quickly looked away. Twice. After the third time, she slammed her book closed with a loud thud and turned towards him.
"Yes? Can I help you?”
