This message ESPECIALLY goes out to anyone assigned male at birth. I know that I grew up in a big "boy's don't cry" type environment. If you're older than the age of 9 and you start crying in school, you're the object of ridicule and bullying.

The logical conclusion of that is to just stop feeling pain. After all, if you're being ridiculed for this, then clearly it means that it isn't normal. So why ARE you crying? The pain you experienced wasn't all that bad. A lot of it must have been all in your head. And that's something that really sticks with you.

But in life you get hurt. People hurt you. People take advantage of you. These people don't deserve your time, but they still hurt you. And you need to feel that pain in order to move past it. Otherwise it just wells up inside you. Sometimes it overflows and hurts others.

And when you do cry, dear god does it feel good to cry.

Fuck the people who said that you couldn't do that for yourself.
