HOW MANY YEARS HAS IT BEEN? I get nostalgic, okay.
You know what I miss?
Caroline x Klaus
That's what I miss. They were perf.
"Guess there's just no happy ending."
That’s not a mystery guy. That’s Damon Salvatore.
Have I mentioned Kol, as much of a douchebag he is.
Is pretty amazing?
But a douchebag nonetheless.
Titanic | Damon & Caroline
Caroline shook her head, wondering how she’d managed to catch his eye. He’d traveled the world and then some while she was a small-town girl from Mystic Falls who saw the world through the eyes of a Council she hated, of parents who’d never understand how it felt to want more to this life than Founding Families and bloodlines and a marriage she was being forced into.
She felt confined suddenly, as if this were a cage traveling on water, taking her back towards Mystic Falls where she’d be shackled forever and Caroline’s outburst surprised even her. Her mouth opened in shock for a moment after she’d said all of that, her cheeks flushing a furious red. Her upbringing told her that she should not question her lot in life. She was fortunate, of course she was, when so many others were impoverished… They were of a better class, she should think herself lucky… Everyone thinks that at a given point, Ms. Forbes. The storm inside her was far from over but Damon saying that, Damon admitting that was like applying salve to a frayed soul. She couldn’t be that selfish, surely, if others before her had indulged in this kind of thinking. Still, Caroline didn’t speak when he told her that. It seemed wrong to, given her previous outburst. It wasn’t until Damon laughed, until he told her she wouldn’t want his life that Caroline found her voice again and she lifted her gaze to his once more. “Is that… Is that what you’d want? A companion?”
The territory she was treading on was dangerous, undoubtedly. Her outburst had been a long time coming but, again, placing her on knife-edge from which she was was sure to fall. He promised that her secret would be safe with him, that dead men told no tales and Caroline was so utterly grateful in that moment. “Thank you,” she breathed out, though it was clear by the look on her face that the only person who’d ever hear those thoughts would be him. They walked again in mostly companionable silence until Damon brought their conversation back to safer footing - England and its classic touch, Scotland, traveling… Then the Council. It should have been the wake-up call Caroline needed, instead, she found herself laughing at his admission and she brushed a lock of blonde hair away from her face, “Your secret is safe with me, Mr. Salvatore,” she teased, “Caged women tell no tales either.”
Talk of his brother seemed to unsettle him, more than anything else had in their short time together and in the time it took to answer her question, Caroline stared at him, at the way the lock of hair fell over his brow, the way his eyes crinkled when he smiled a little, how his eyes always seemed to hold the shadows of something else, of a world that was different. He told her his brother was being looked after and Caroline vowed, after this trip was over, to make sure that was indeed the case if Damon wasn’t to stay in Mystic Falls. She’d visit his brother herself before her doomed marriage to Richard began, before it was considered unladylike to do so… And then he caught her staring and Caroline’s cheeks flushed again, though she smiled this time. “You, Damon,” she murmured, feeling emboldened suddenly, “Are the elder brother. You talk of looking out for him and yet you know enough to know he’s safe, though I can’t imagine there are many years between you.” They’d reached the end of the railing now, Titanic was traveling at an impressive speed and some of the people who’d stayed behind to wave off loved ones were beginning to disperse. Caroline watched them for a moment before turning back to Damon. “I think you feel guilty sometimes, though. For leaving him.” Her head tilted as she studied him. “Maybe… Maybe you wish it were him you were travelling the world with and not alone?”
The dark-haired male remained silent for a while, his arms folding upon his chest as he gazed ahead, brows furrowing for a second. The mere thought of being forced to marry someone... No, he never quite had liked it. It was all fun and games for the guys, of course. No denying it. But it was not the way he wished to play. When he looked to the one standing beside him...
He did not see what her husband saw in her... He saw more. He saw so much more. And it was a shame that she would never come to spread her wings in the presence of that oaf she traveled with. It was a shame that she would end up like any wife nowadays... Standing aside him, being looked upon as a prize trophy. Somebody who could give him a son. Who could give him a few good scuffles in the bed. But no more then that. Her brilliant mind, all those thoughts. They would be washed away. As if they were never there to begin wtih. It was a shame indeed.
He blinked at the words given to him, turning his head a bit to look at her and opening his mouth before slowly closing it with a smarmy smirk. "Come now, Ms Forbes. Is that not what all of us want in the very end of it all? A companion to share things with?" he questioned simply, a soft chuckle slipping over his lips as he looked ahead once more, his shoulders hunching up in a light shrug. Perhaps she was right... Perhaps sometimes it felt nice to have someone alongside you. But mostly.. He had done things on his own. And through that way, he had survived.
He gave a faint smirk, putting up a hand. "Don't mention it, with pleasure." he stated simply, walking along. Only to let out a loud laughter when he heard the words spoken to him. Caged women tell no tales either. Lord, did she have a streak of humour in her soul too. That always seemed a good thing. "Am I ever so grateful to you, Ms Forbes." he purred out, giving a toothy grin, tilting his head a tiny bit to look at her. His face fell soon after however, eyes casting down for a second before he gave a nonchalant shrug and looked back ahead, pursing his lips for a split second before grinning.
"Yes. I am the older brother indeed. Not that much older, but older nonetheless." he finally confessed to her, coming to a stop as they reached the end of the railing, causing him to keep his eyes fixed upon the many people upon the lower deck. "... Guilty?" he questioned, turning fully to watch her, blinking once before giving a toothy grin. "Careful, Ms Forbes. You're starting to dig deep." he teased her lightly, wagging a finger once before licking his lips. But perhaps she was more then right... There were times he felt guilty for leaving behind his little brother... There were moments where he scolded himself. But those moments were quickly waved away. "No. He couldn't deal with the life I lead. I had to leave him behind for a good reason. And traveling the world alone isn't so bad in the end. You meet many people. Such as yourself, Caroline."
"Well how about that, i'm still alive and kickin'-- Well. What you can call alive, atleast."
"motherfucker i know you at least have alcohol"
"For a sexy bastard like you, you bet your ass I do~"
-
Leis chuckled. “Well, that is a fair point. Is there something special you want me to call you~?” He reached over to run his hand through the hair of the Damon he was speaking to, watching the other touch him as well. “Mm, either way this will be lovely~”
Damon shrugged a little bit as he thought over this for a few moments before glancing at the other man named Damon. “mmmm…You can always call me by my middle name, or a nickname, for confusion’s sake.” he said with thought. before scratching at his chin. “Or Just Salvatore.”
"Salvatore. Hmm, sounds good enough for me. Salvatore it is for you, stud." he spoke, patting the other Damon's cheek once before glancing towards Leis. "You however... You share my handsome face, but not my name. Which leads me to believe the obvious 'you're not us'."
Hey there sexy ;]
"Well hello there, Salvatore."
You can’t deny, we were badass.
"motherfucker i know you at least have alcohol"
"For a sexy bastard like you, you bet your ass I do~"
-
"Good, good. Easy to remember. Well Damon and Damon, I say we have some fun~"
"I agree…" he said with a soft purr, his eyes glistening slightly as his hand had ran along the other Damon’s cheek, admiring his mirror image.
"Damon and Damon is all fine with me." he grinned, tilting his head a bit and studying the face of both. "But how do we know who you're talking to? Aside from clothing, we look pretty much alike." he stated, giving a toothy grin as he felt the fingers of the other on his cheek. "Don't you agree, studs?"
"motherfucker i know you at least have alcohol"
"For a sexy bastard like you, you bet your ass I do~"
-
"We should utilize this opportunity. I’m Leis. Who are the both of you? Besides the sexiest things I’ve ever seen~"
"Leis? Cool name." he said with a slight grin "I’m Damon"
"Big surprise here, i'm Damon too."
